Here's what I see: there will be a short hubbub, then nothing will happen and the crowd will disperse. Unless KS does do something, but the most likely is that they're going to say that it's the backer's responsibility to deal with it, not theirs. I doubt anyone cares enough to start legal action.

It all depends on the critical mass.

If enough backers finally throw down, Wu's going to have to release now rather than later, and she hasn't treated them very well. Unlike the comparable Feminist Deck and Feminist Frequency KSes, the backers on these aren't true believers and sadly for Wu, shit like Feminist Frequency has already happened before, and she's trying to pull this literally over a year after there was blastback.

Putting it differently; people liked Anita way more than they liked Brianna Wu when Gamergate began; now that Wu's essentially a pariah in her own camp, and shit is hitting the fan, she's not going to have much of a base to draw on to hold the line. Her Patreon is essentially loaded by her pulling the strings, but we all know this really isn't sustainable, no matter how much Wu says it is. If the backers keep pressuring her, we're going to see a chimp-out.

This said, even if the worst happens and it more-or-less blows over (I personally don't think it's going to without consequences, since it's gained another 50 likes in the last two hours on KIA alone and tons more views, to say nothing of the responses), this incident marks the writing on the wall, and the beginning of the end - if she doesn't get it out, she's going to continue to slide from relevance, more and more, as the game of hers becomes an increasingly-distant memory. "I'm a game developer!" she'll continue to state, but this won't hold out forever - her game isn't on the market anywhere and she has no real inclination to release it if it means being put on any platform that allows public feedback, like Steam or GoG. The best case scenario is for her to release it and be done with it, but she knows it won't do well there, and that's why she avoids it so much.

Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't, Wu will ultimately reap what she sows and we'll be right there to harness the salt.

I personally would love to see Bri-Bri sued on one of the daytime court shows:

Judge Judy: To be fair, you promised this young lady a video game and she never got it! You're a scammer and a thief!

Bri: Your honor, "to be fair" is a very condescending thing to say and as a fellow woman--

Judge Judy: I don't care! You wanna talk about feelings go to Dr Phil!

So what is the common consensus on where the Kickstarter money went? I was thinking the motorcycle but I couldn't remember if the dates matched up.

First things first: Remember always that the Kickstarter was for the IOS version, as well as the PC and Mac version. Giant Spacekat finished that, though it is now currently unavailable in the endless wait for the PC/Mac versions.

That said.

We know from Emma Clarkson and the other former GSX employees that have talked to us (under condition of anonymity) that the PC version was finished -back in 2014. All that was needed was a new interface so it'd work on PC, and that, too, was completed. She wanted to boost the marketing of the game, so she tried first to false-flag it in feminist circles, but this failed. When Gamergate happened, Wu locked onto that horse and rode it for all it was worth. By all accounts though - the game was done by this point. The modding to the new interface was up, the conversion was done.

We know this because we've seen the screenshots from this, and the testimony of several of the developers Wu hired who list these accomplishments on their resume. They've got no reason to lie about it, especially since Wu got rid of them once the project was done. Revolution 60 is done in Unreal 3, so the conversion work needed was... Well, virtually nil. What happened is that Brianna Wu got all hopped up on being famous and important, and that went right to her head. She then tried to upgrade things to be "in line with her vision," but she provably barely knows what she's doing, and her upgrades made the game look worse.

Also @Smutley, do you think you could extract Revolution 60's audio? It's literally the only good thing the game has.

By now I don't believe that 'Rev 60: Dead On Arrival - Steam Edition' will ever see the light of day. Wu just doesn't have the skills or balls to release it...

...I think this is also the reason why she hinted at a new project, which does 'something-something VR' and 'something-something emotions'. If she ever gets funding for that, some of the money will vanish into hiring a few code monkeys to finish Rev 60 SE. But seeing that she is playing vydia for 13h a day, she doesn't even have the time to get that kind of money, even if she stumbles over a magic lamp.

She then tried to upgrade things to be "in line with her vision," but she provably barely knows what she's doing, and her upgrades made the game look worse.

I agree with this, and I think also in the process she fiddled with the code and broke something.

This thread is some of the best evidence of how incredibly dishonest gaming journalism is.

The fact is, there is an actual story to be covered here. This isn't like other Kickstarters where things go wrong and the creator just vanishes altogether. Brianna Wu hasn't vanished, she's still shitting up twitter for many hours a day, avoiding any mention of her game. This is a juicy story that any journalist who actually cares about journalism should be salivating over because the subject of the story is right there. You don't need to do any real investigating or digging. All the information is easily found and all you need to do is tweet @ her to get a comment (Or a non-comment, which is just as good.)

The ease with which you could create a powerful piece of investigative journalism and the refusal of anyone in "the business" to do so is basically why GamerGate happened in the first place. The story is so, so easy to tell and it's actually pretty interesting as well- but none of that matters apparently because of old alliances and identity politicking.

Every failed Kickstarter gets coverage because it drives views...this one...not so much, even after 13 missed deadlines. This goof misses deadlines more often than Chloe Sagal gets raped, all the while taking money on Patreon and speaking at tech conferences, yet no one in gaming journalism gives a fuck.

I'm waiting for Aronofsky to make a movie about it.

Hasn't Wu explicitly said it wants to get out of game development though? If that's truly it's aim, then just release the shitty game. It doesn't matter if it tanks.

I seriously think it's just not finished because Wu doesn't have the technical ability to finish it.

Wouldn't a software engineer have version control in place to ensure that they could always revert to a prior working version?

Requiem for a Peen?

Reading through the Kickstarter, it's not just the game he owes. Some backers are owed posters and t-shirts. Also supposedly an e-book. What are the odds that any of those have been done?

This is the tweet in question:

He deleted it because of how braindead fucking stupid it is.

Fun fact, the Android mascot was created by a woman.

This would also confirm my theory that the thing that is uploaded in Steam is not the Special Edition, is the normal edition, the Special edition must be broken beyond repair to the point that john dont even want to upload it

The only reason Flynt hasn't released the game is because he broke it to the point it's unplayable.

That's pretty much the most obvious and likely reason at this point, given all the evidence. But of course Wu couldn't admit that because he's a Godzilla of Women in Tech.
