I've said for a long time Ben speaks like how a stupid person thinks a smart person speaks. He speaks rather quickly, with confidence and you tend to get lost in what he's trying to say. But because you're on his side you just agree and say he's a great debater.

But he's not a great debater and while I wouldn't necessarily call him stupid because he does occasionally make decent points he's too far up his own ass to be a voice of... anything.

Benji is a shit debater because he rarely moves past intellectual lightweights like Dave Rubin and college students dumb enough to bother debating him. He gets outwitted real fast in every other scenario. However his fanbase seems to be okay with just going back to the same well of content without any growth on his part whatsoever. Is it just me or has there been an uptick in lolcow threads on conservative/right-wing people since late 2020 (many of them breaking the “no celebrity” rule)? It’s almost like we’re afraid the farms is biased to leftist lolcows (despite making up half of the political spectrum, leftists contribute way over half the lolcows). It’s like we’re desperately trying to convince people, both inside and out, “we make fun of the big bad righties, see? See?! (Please don’t cancel and arrest us)”. Maybe it’s a good survival tactic, I don’t know, but it’s kind of irritating me. At least allow an AOC thread (she and her army of simps can make as good of a thread as any celebrity conservative we’re letting bypass the rules).

Back on topic, Ben is being held up as a spiritual successor to Rush Limbaugh, but I don’t think it will work. Younger conservatives like Ben, but his “schtick” of being an obnoxious nerd rubs many the wrong way (especially more traditional Limbaugh-conservatives, who I feel are tolerating him because he’s the best they have).

It's a combination of two factors. One, Ben Shapiro isn't a celebrity and has been known to gin up drama. Two, following the God-Emperor's dethroning in 2020, a lot of people on the right lost their shit (particularly online, where they don't have to face immediate consequences for their words). Individually, these factors wouldn't justify a thread. Together, they create a storm of autistic conservatism that justifies a thread.

And personally, I think Ben needs a thread. He's the conservative counterpart to Moviebob: pseudo-intellectual, inflated ego, and thinks he's smarter than he really is.
