Double post but sounds like shit's about to hit the fan

"All the options" can range from reworking the game like Battlefront II's progression system to dropping the game like a sack of shit.

I'm genuinely curious about what this guy will reveal tomorrow. The game is such a clusterfuck that it's fascinating to know the details.

bf2 as shallow as the gameplay was was still ok at the core, the main issue was progression and that was easily changed.

It will probably be "Anthem 2.0" all over again.
given they tried to retool anthem from the ground up for some retarded reason, it would be akin to releasing a new battlefield because in the end it will look nothing like 2042. at which point some exec will say "why don't we sell this as a new game? people are stupid enough to buy it anyway" and there we go.

Exactly free to play will not fix a broken core experience, they destroyed what battlefield was and made it something different and worse to try to copy Warzone, how are they shocked it sold like ass? I've been playing Hell let Loose, rough UI and some technical issues but fills my need for an old school battlefield style class / squad based shooter.

Unfortunately, we will have to wait longer for a response, meaning either shit hit the fan HARD at EA and DICE, or this guy (despite his reputation of getting most of the leaks right), is making something up, which I hope this isn't the case.

DICE added a Zombie Survival mode to Portal yesterday, but removed it today, when people found out that it was an easy XP farming mode. And even if the XP were to be disabled, the game mode itself was pretty boring, as the zombies are just soldiers, and the goal of the game is to survive for 1 hour.

A crash dump for the game reveals that Denuvo may also be included in the game, but why?

The Worst Games of 2021 Lists have been coming out, and MoistCr1tikal rated BF2042 as the 2nd worst game in 2021, behind Balan Wonderworld. I do wonder if it will be the #1 Worst 2021 Game, for anyone.

Bold prediction, but I suspect EA will either downsize DICE or put the Battlefield franchise on hold for a time. I do not see how Battlefield as a brand can be salvaged from 2042.

4 launched broken as all hell, Hardline was overpriced, V was politicized (and stitched together) only to be abandoned shortly after. 1 was the only great Battlefield in recent times.

I don't see a silver lining for 2042.

I played it once and quit a couple of minutes after I got killed. I was waiting to respawn but the kill counter wasn't working despite the other players killing the zombies.
How could they ship that mode without even playing it? Who are the people that are handling the post-launch support? Are they all diversity hires?

still don't get what's apparently so bad about balan wonderworld, even if it is all I heard "it's bad" and that was it while 2042 and plenty of other games generate constant amount of lulzy material and butthurt.

Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. DICE is Swedish and EA is EA.

Now, is it DICE's turn to be put to sleep like and an old dog?

Most likely, as DICE had even more chances than some of EA's other studios that they euthanized, but they still blew it.

And here's a few more dev tweets that have aged poorly:

And even the Roadmaps (despite them not being reliable, because things change) was also a massive downgrade from previous games:

I remember when BF3 launched, they had the Back to Karkand coming out a month or so after release. Which I understand was just taking part of the original game and making it into a DLC, pre-order bonus.

The game's marketing touted an "aggressive DLC" plan. Then there was radio silence. They clearly had no plan. Then Premium was announced about 6-7 months later. Where I always felt the first few DLCs were inspired by working on the Frostbike engine. "Small maps with more detail, larger maps ect.

BF4 announced Premium at launch with titles for the expansions, but they clearly hadn't figured much of it out. I think China Rising was done by another part of DICE or another dev to be the first. Done while DICE was finishing the game. Then the next DLC was rehashed maps, so easy DLC. Then we had "Naval Strike." So Navy theme... "Dragon's teeth" which could be anything with the war with China theme. Which is what we got. Then "Final Stand" became future stuff, but the name could have been anything. It doesn't really fit.

What always stood out to me was how the description of "Naval Strike" changed over the months. It was originally described as, "the Chinese Amanda hits the high seas." I think they also said, "full naval warfare." We had artwork with vehicles, aircraft carriers and other stuff that didn't end up in the mode. Then the descriptions all changed to water-based combat and we got a mode on islands, small boats and not on the high seas. So clearly there was a watered-down plan or they just overpromised and didn't care.

This is clearly just anothing, "figure it out after launch."

Or maybe like BFV where it's some DLC and the amount just gets dictated by the success of the game.

If V modeled purchasable female characters after older Hollywood actresses, MAYBE I would've considered buying one. I'd rather them be unlockable, but what can you do?

Imagine how badass that would've been. They'd have their female soldiers, actual history, monetization, AND fantastic gameplay. Uneducated, my ass.

Been having fun replaying BF4. Still has decent server population on PC. In-game chat also seems to be more active too if anyone cares about that (it's a lot of shitting on 2042 lol).
Anyone want to play BF2?

Come on down!
How's the player count? Just found my BF2 disk and been wanting to replay it. Still my favorite game in the series tbh.

Yikes, these DICE devs are still in denial about the state of the game, trying to deflect blame to everyone else:
