I wouldn't be surprised if the preorder numbers aren't that hot.
  1. The controversy surrounding the game and the developers standoffish attitude towards criticism would rub a lot of fans the wrong way.
  2. The reveal trailer was terrible compared to previous trailers, and the game got barely any exposure at E3.
  3. The Star Wars Battlefront II controversy is still fresh in many minds, and the game's somewhat anemic postlaunch support is going to cast doubt on Battlefield V's.
  4. The game is launching in October, sandwiched in between other highly anticipated games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
All in all, I'm certain that the game is going to sell worse than Battlefield 1 or even Battlefront II did.

I like Battlefield, but I'm glad this is the end result to their agenda-pushing bullshit. The same thing should have happened when Activision removed the swastika and made black female Nazis a thing in COD: WW2, but they didn't act like total douchebags afterwards unlike EA. You say no lootboxes or season passes, but follow it up with, 'WW2 was full of chicks and if you don't like it, don't buy the game'?

It's almost like they hate money.

I remember watching it’s reveal trailer. It made me say “wait what?” out loud about 5 times. I kept expecting a reveal of Nazi mechs walking around or jet packs to explain how the weird ass cyborg pirate Cockney lady fit in to WW2.
This. They would have arguably been better served just launching fully into the fantastical elements, while saying they were doing alternate WWII or some shit.

Also, gallivanting around with SocJus shit is dumb, if you really want to push that shit through your game intended for children, then you should just be surrepitous about it and not talk it all the way up.

What good ploy to kill the dying Battlefield franchise while pleasing the SJWs by releasing the turd under other big titles so no one notices.

I would also say maybe people are getting bored of this kind of games.
It really doesnt look that different than bf1 and this is the 3rd BF coming during the same generation.

Even Life is Strange, a fucking centerpiece of Hipster douche faggotry, doesn't really escape this rule of logic, since the main reason people like it isn't how Social Justice the story is, it's because of the game's better moments of characterization, decent music, and how the story itself is told. It succeeds despite the fact that I'm like 90% certain it was written entirely by a procedural AI script intended to mimic hipsters. Divorce the hipster douche crap from the game and you still have, to hear the positive reviews tell it, a heartfelt, if incoherent story at its core.

Life is Strange works because it's written by Chris Divine, a guy who looks very Hipstery, but kind of the guy you wind up hanging about with. Not because he's a hispter, but he knows where to find that genuinely nice relaxing bar with the good beer you didn't know about. He's also a huge D&D and Donkey Kong Fan.

LoS's scripts also worked well because he can write genuinely good characters and every script went through a "Nieces test" where he'd get his nieces to check over the scripts to make sure they felt more genuine and alive. I suspect said nieces are in their late teens/early 20s as there was something wonderfully "90s flashback" shot throughout the whole game and something I really hope turns up in Season Two as well (As Divine is back writing for that too).

Tumblr creamed its panties over the characters dyking out, but the chances of you finding that ending were pretty fucking slim if you played the game by pinwheeling back and forth on choices as I did, which really let Divine's writing shine through. (Max going from an ex boyfriend to constantly flirting with Chloe made little sense from a story standpoint anyway.)

====================

Really the whole thing about Battlefield V is simply a culmination of events. The hardcore has been slowly bleeding from EA for years (most going off to other major developers and indie games) and they thought they'd staved this off by retaining the casual market via Battlefield/Dice and their sports games.

Then along game a series of expensive, bad decisions. Mass Effect Andromeda was panned by the public and sold woefully to the point EA pulled the studio. Any remaining hardcore fans were then driven off with them canning Visceral Games, an odd move as they'd made Dead Space using an old proprietary engine of theirs. Meaning the Cost/Profit ratio was fairly high on such a game series even when ramming stupid shit in like microtransactions.

Then along came Battlefront II and the very shady dealings that came with it. EA pulled a bait and switch with Twitch Streamers and Youtubers. Being given a "complete" version of the game to sign a contract for before it was essentially gutted for sale. Hence why you had a number of trusted youtubers and twitch streamers doing only what was contractually obligated of them by playing a game they clearly didn't want to.

Repeat videos and streams of Battlefront II vanished as soon as they appeared once their obligations ended and, surprise surprise, only niche youtube lets players seem to be getting in on Battlefield V.

To say Disney was unhappy about what happened with EA is likely an understatement and don't be surprised if the House of Mouse won't let EA release any more games with any IP they own (which these days is a lot of IPs).

This locking off of the game has managed to piss off the more casual playerbase that made up the majority of such releases for EA who're more likely to go for the less intrusive CoD or Rockstar methods of getting your dosh. Both of whom offered a lot of stuff in their base games, gave you easy ways to gain more stuff (Play the game for a bit, or do missions) and then offered up the quick n easy Shark Card/Loot Box.

I guess when you tell people 'Don't like it, don't buy it, you're too dumb to understand it' they'll actually listen to you. Whoops.

Also EA is a dumpster company that has run every IP it has owned into the ground still thinking it is 1998. Not even Activision has done that ever since it was taken over by Blizzard. Soon EA will just be like Konami, only releasing FIFA and Madden, nothing of note to anyone who doesn't give a fuck about sports games.

EDIT:
Also no way EA gets to keep an exclusive Star Wars licence after the contract runs out. Disney has had a ton of trouble with Star Wars as a brand and Battlefront 2 fucked it up even more. They'd be fucking ret.arded to keep it with EA and with the changes going on in Lucasfilm, that's not going to happen. Disney has lost its patience for fuck ups.

Because prior to 2018 and Battlefield soy no video game ever had a female protagonist. Truly those were the dark days of gaming.

I'm sure the game will sell just fine, right? I mean, we have professional marketing people at EA doing consumer testing to make sure they aim to the correct market.
If they are turning their attention to SJWS, feminists, anti trump left wing soyboys, that's because the market is there, right? EA wouldn't be stupid enough to shit on their old fanbase for the sake of social awareness and good press from such respectable outlets like kotaku.

I'm sure obese, purple hair feminists will all buy BFV. It was a game made for them, shaped to be appealing to them.

If the multiplayer is as good as BF1, it will still sell, but at this point they've sabotaged their image enough that I doubt it will be anywhere near as successful. EA is clearly trying to hitch their wagon to the Overwatch train, but the thing is Blizzard didn't start out by telling their fans how much they suck and the diversity elements weren't incongruous with the setting of the game. They found a way to make that game appealing to a wide audience as well as SJWs, whereas EA seems to think the correct tactic is to exclusively pander to SJWs, and we've already seen how well that works.

Honestly next battlefield they should make it set in the revolutionary war and you play as a female ninja with a katana and have to assassinate the king of england. Your backstory is you play as Maria Le-Rodriguez and due to the king of England raping the shit of your mom, you have to get revenge against him. Also, there is a scene where some guy talks about the king of england being good and you say "Free speech, more like, rape speech" and chop his head off while doing a sick back-flip
