Minty hits like a truck. I specced her into heavy armour but still she is somewhat fragile.

So, just did the Iron Throne. On Honor Mode, you're given 5 turns to save everyone and get out alive. Wasn't easy, and I almost lost one very important NPC whom I won't name for spoilers reasons. Here's where I sent everyone:

West - Lae'zel
South - Gale
East - Astarion and Wyll

I managed to save all the really important people and I thought everyone was going to get out just fine. Unfortunately, I think the AI ran into a problem. The gnomes held up in the western wing used Dash, but for whatever reason the game had them stop early in the tunnel leading to the ladder. By the final turn, they had all but made it:

I sent two of my party East so that one could fight the fish people while the other would open the doors. I had Astarion shoot the levers at turn 3, but it looks like I needed to hit the levers at turn 2 in order for everyone to get out. In hindsight, I'm not sure how that would have been possible without using Misty Step at least twice. But even with 6 turns, that final NPC in the back there would have never made it so... I don't get it.

I can only think it's bugged. But thankfully all the really important people made it out alive. Sleet Storm came in very handy here. I had Gale cast it in the South corridor where all the fish people spawn. They kept falling down over and over. Hilarious!

Heavy armor is a misnomer for both this game and 5e proper.

Dex is still the god-stat, and with the existence of non-dex capped medium armour, I'd say medium armour with dex is actually the way to go if you're looking for god AC that can't be touched by anyone that doesn't have a +10 to-hit and above. (Saves are another matter, but I'm sure resistance cantrips or whatever is enough for that).

Only exceptions seem to be the Helldusk Armor and the Armor of Persistence. Helldusk has 21 AC and doesn't require proficiency while AoP gives damage reduction, Resistence, and Blade Ward. Awesome armors.

EDIT:

There's a way to get the Helldusk Armor in Act 1 without cheating.

Meanwhile two braindogs after the crash ended my first honour run.

I think mine has ended, unfortunately. After the last hotfix, for whatever reasons, my saved game won't load. It reaches 100% and my game crashes every time. Not sure what the fix is. My run stopped after I defeated Viconia. I decided to let the Sharrans run through a pincer with Gale channeling Sleet Storm and Shart channeling Wall of Fire. The fight was extremely trivial:

They never even touched my party. They kept on slipping and standing in fire until they died. I got Shart to Fireball the ones lingering and lying prone on the outside. Gale nuked Viconia with Artistry of War (the unique scroll from Lorroakan's tower) Only two NPCs actually made it through the fire and were promptly smashed in the face by Lae and Astarion.

I ran into a bug, however. When I went to talk to Viconia after downing her, I didn't get the cutscene where she and Shart have one last talk. Instead, I got a repeat of the cutscene before she attacks. This kept on happening over and over again, so I finally just had Lae smack her with her sword and moved on. Thankfully nothing was broken after this and Shart was reunited with her parents, ending her quest.

I haven't found a way to load my save, so I'm going to try to uninstall and reinstall the game. Hopeully my save isn't corrupted or anything. Also going to reinstall my drivers since my game seems to enjoy crashing in Lower City a lot. I'll know later tonight if I can continue. If not, then all I got was a tough Lae'zel origin, cut short of killing Gortash, Orin, Raphael, and the Absolute. All I got was a happy Shart and a half-squid romance between Lae and Astarion...

I didn't even know this cutscene existed when I did the fight. Viconia just died somewhere between her going down and getting knocked out (I did notice this), and me mopping up the rest of the mooks.

At least she got sweet bling.

You can even spare Viconia's life, if you want. But that shield is the best in the game. Also, incidentally, if you're a Vengeance Paladin, your Oath will break if you spare her.

Why would I even want to spare the shitty drow's life? (I know I know, she's a darling from prior games apparently). I already stabbed Minthara without blinking earlier in the game.

Total Drow Death.

EDIT: Apparently newest hotfix broke all quest items. Gonna pause my game here then. Maybe come back to it when Larian got their shit together.

She also wants to die so she can go be with her god, so not killing her is sorta a “lol you wish, bitch” kinda thing.

I think I spared her but looted her body before killing the last enemy in the encounter.

So, yeah, after reinstalling the game and my drivers, just confirmed my save data is completely gone and my Honor Run with it. I thought I had everything sync'd with Steam, but apparently not. And I was so close to the end too. 😭

Hopefully they'll patch it soon, reaching act three in Honour mode isn't easy.

So glad Larian didn't netflix-up the monster hunter as all those hard-Rs would concerning

Maybe it's because I'm playing a monk, but I didn't find Auntie Ethel all that challenging in Act 3. Were people trying to merk her at level 10 or something? (My monk kit is pretty much complete even then, so I doubt there would be any difference beyond a slightly harder time hitting her or simply having less HP).

You can cheese it easy without even going into the cave under her house. What you do is pickpocket her and then run a little ways away until she discovers it. She will chase the character who pickpocketed her. Thing is, you can run away from her and she will follow. Last time I ran all the way to the Gur and stopped. When she confronts you about the pickpocket, just attack. She will transform into a Hag and turn invisible. Try to find her out, but note she needs to run back to the house in order to teleport below. This is where you take every opportunity to nuke here down. If you fight her this way, she never summons adds. Only downside is if you wanted to bargain for her hair; that is only possible if you fight her in her lair.

Something else you can do is lead her outside and then use the Arcane Lock spell on the door to her house. She will actually repeatedly jiggle the handle but will never be able to open it. Then, you nuke her down asap.

Hopefully they'll patch it soon, reaching act three in Honour mode isn't easy.
I'm giving it another go; this time I'm using Shart origin. I respecced her and made her a Paladin and discovered that your dialogue gets re-tailored for it in some ways. The game will start referring to you as a [PALADIN OF SHAR] on rare occaisions. That's pretty awesome! Makes me wonder if Larian had scrapped assigned deities to Paladins at one point in time.

A made her Devotion Paladin too. I want to see if Aura of Courage completely negates Fear of Wolves.
