Reminder that the plan for AOE is supposed to go something like this. Keep in mind, I could be wrong about a few of these details because they change all the time, and the overall way these things are actually supposed to happen differ from person to person, but the overall gist of it seems to be this.
>There are multiple timelines
>Mikasa is the cause of the timelines and because of this Mikasa has to die
>Eren married Historia and the baby is his
>Eren will stop the SC by killing them all and then complete the Rumbling
>With the timelines ended, and everyone and everything dead, Eren will live the rest of his life on a farm with Historia and their kid
>Eren will also suffer from crippling guilt, depression, and PTSD from what he did
>Absolutely nothing bad results from the entire world's ecosystem being FUBAR
>THE END
Ah, yes, the "Multiverse". Only shitty writers will unironically use a "Multiverse" to end their story, because they're too much of a coward to just end their story right there and then
Its the same thing that ruined the study group harem manga, the author is too much of a coward to just choose a girl and end their story
Something just occurred to me regarding the curse of Ymir (or as this thread has lovingly nicknamed it, Titan Cancer): we as readers have no real reason to believe that shit is real. You would think that such a curse would physically manifest itself in the afflicted the longer time goes on, but the bodies of Titan shifters don't seem to weaken or degrade over time as they reach closer to their thirteen-year biological expiration date. If anything, they improve. I wouldn't be surprised if Isayama wrote off the part about a random Eldian baby receiving shifter powers if the previous recipient wasn't eaten beforehand, and even then, how would they even know they were born with those powers to begin with? In any case, I feel like the curse mostly exists from a writing standpoint to justify killing off characters when it's convenient like Grisha or Ksaver, since the curse means they're gonna die soon anyway.

Not going to lie, before it was confirmed as real I thought the Curse of Ymir was Marleyan Propaganda to get rid of people who'd wise up to their propaganda.
People bringing Attack on Titan into politics is stupid given Eren is an Elliot Rodger/CWC tier incel who murdered billions of people because he couldn't get family pussy.
Nah because that ending would be loved by Eren fanboys, I can do worse that would piss off everyone in the Attack on Titan fanbase
Pretty much the same shit but Eren pisses and shits himself while crying how Mikasa would never bone him while Armin just watches and does nothing.
When we cut to the present, Mikasa carries Eren's head but it's taken before she could bury it as literally everyone decides to have a soccer game using Eren's head as the ball. Mikasa shrugs her shoulders and just has a steamy kiss with Jean as Armin laughs it off.
Everyone sees the force ghosts, but right after Eren is among them and is crying at Mikasa kissing Jean, but then the rest of the force ghosts take him away and proceed to endure him to many tortures for thousands of years. Floch and Zeke are also punished with Eren as even the parents of both Yaegerbros join in. The last of Eren's screentime is his mom repeatedly hitting him with a shoe while his dad beats him with a belt as Zeke and Floch are both pelted by rocks.
Time passes and pretty much everything is the same but Mikasa becomes Jean's trophy wife and everything is still the same. When they get to Paradise, everyone on the island just drops their fascist ways for no reason, and they build a statue in Armin's honor as the entire world is in kumbaya as they move forward because Armin good, and the story becomes exceptionally happy.
Historia has a passionate kiss with Farmer-Kun and says he is the greatest man a queen could love, Farmer-Kun doesn't speak at all but gives a smile.
Everyone else in the cast hooks up, except for Connie who is later revealed to have gotten arrested after being in a romantic relationship with his mom.
Timeskip passes and then the last panel is a PSA for why war and racism are bad.

We need to dig up Jesus' corpse..and put it in Niagra Falls because him turning all of that into wine is the only way to get enough Alcohol Content to cope with how much this post hurts me.

Ok so I read Attack on Titan, it's good actually and all of you are wrong*.
I read the first post and followed the thread on and off because I love (figurative) fandom trainwrecks. When AoT started the amount of spergy thinkpieces ("I served in Iraq, here's 12 pages on the best titan-fighting tactic") so I went out of my way to avoid learning anything about AoT except by reading updates in this here thread wherever it made the first page of Multimedia.
Unfortunately between JapanPost committing sudoku, vicious hohols, and suspicious kazakhbros, I ran out of stuff to read, so it was either this or rereading Sonichu. (And I would have still picked Sonichu had Chris not raped his mom.)
*
The anime is ugly retarded garbage for piss guzzling mouthbreathers. I tried watching it despite the ugly character designs, because the colored pages looked interesting.
- the edgy intro song sounds like a Survey Corps anthem (or the show's shitty fandom's anthem), completely contrary to the book where Eren is the edgy aspiring titan-killer and is alone in that. In the books, the Survey Corps consists of people who were severely fucked in the head and for that reason exclude themselves from normal society (city guard) and careerism (cops). They're all fucked up in different ways; Eren is the only one who's an edgy wannabe titan exterminator. The intro song reads like a Survey Corps anthem and implies that everyone in the Survey Corps is an Eren, which is false.
- similarly, the closing song does Mikasa dirty. She's not talking much less singing about her feefees, the fuck is this even.
- Marco is the first major character to die in the books, for like a third of the run. His death in the book is preceded by a cool well-paced and well-placed flashback sequence making it sad and impactful. That sequence is repurposed for exposition in the anime (at this point I quit), so when his death comes it must land as a wet fart.
Because tastes differ, my thesis is that AoT does not get worse. Everything that's retarded in it was present (not just plotted by actually shown) from the very beginning. If you think it was consistently cockshitting terrible, we good. If you think it got worse, you're wrong.
I will eventually go through the thread (or at least the highlights) in my spare time and reply to what stands out, for now I'll just post what I remember from earlier.
NOT BAD: The pigs
Perfectly fine. The story is about a civilizational threat, and it's set in a world of humans in which civilizations exist and technological progress happens. Progress making titans obsolete is the plot driver for the second half of the story. In 2000 years, titans go from being regarded or remembered as gods just because they could move heavy loads (and that was life-changing for communities of the time) to being used as elite shock troops and WMDs by non-titans (but no worship or anything); in a generation they'll be test targets for nukes. Thus the pigs. (Also, Ymir might have been falsely blamed for letting them out.)
NOT BAD: "Eren plans to end racism by genociding all other races, he's got absolute divine power and can't come up with anything better"
I wish that were his plan, that'd be ultra ballsy on Isayama's part. But if it were, so what? his goal was to save his race from racism. Genociding all others is a valid solution.
Eren does not have godlike power. He has a measure of control over the physiology of Eldians. It is less than what Ymir (the progenitor) has, and hers is less than what the organic god has, and whatever Eren tries to do has to go through Ymir and the limits of human speech. He's got that, and destructive power.
NOT BAD: titan cancer
There are stories in which using magic subtracts from your lifespan, most notably The Wild Ass's Skin. This is a different story, it's about trying to use unlimited (destructive) power in a limited interval of time rather than stretching out limited power for as long as possible. A completely different, opposite in fact, incentive, much more appropriate for an action manga and for a non-interactive story in general (in non-interactive stories, the obstacles which consume the resource, and the limit if it's expressed in arbitrary units, feel like ass-pulls).
NOT BAD: "Lel they all chillin in the paths"
Bad but not part of the plot. It looks like poetic license / executive meddling after Isayama killed those two Turks the chapter before. Also they're not in the paths, they're in the afterlife. It's a shitty poetic hope / cope.
NOT BAD: Gabi accepted by Sasha's family
Imagine being Sasha's father: a random reverse nigger, crazy with grief and obsessed with your dead daughter, who you're meeting for the second time ever, points at what you think is a small Eldian orphan girl, says she killed your daughter, and tells you to kill her on the spot. Of course you'd refuse.
And from a story construction perspective, Sasha is the only character with a plot who gets killed. That's too few! but not getting a reconciliation plot out of her would've been a waste.
"NOT BAD: "Isayama was "inspired" by Game of Thrones and derailed the story"
No he wasn't. The only thing that smells like a retcon is the Eren distracting wifey away from Bertoldt so she can eat his mom (or something) - that didn't happen in chapter 2.
NOT BAD: "At least ten years"
Completely normal. First, Eren is a kid in that scene, contemplating his early death no less. (Terminally ill children in the thread are welcome to provide their own perspective.) Second, he only has this outburst after Armin trolls him. Third, he immediately takes it back.
NOT BAD: "Annie is still in the crystal"
I don't understand what the problem even is. So she is, so what? Lots of other stuff happens in the meantime, it's not like the characters pull up a sofa and act out a sitcom around her until she comes out. (I'm watching the Berserk thread, which I hope will be a glorious shitshow I was been denied here, what with Mori Koji now at the helm, and I know the protagonist party there had been stuck on a ship for years. Sticking one villain in a crystal doesn't hurt the narrative whatsoever.)
NOT BAD: "lololololol Eren got his head shot off"
I was looking forward to this but it wasn't funny. Dude immediately turned into a horrific monster, that was by no means an L.
BAD: the walls make no sense
(I'm keeping to the premise here, pre-wall-titans, pre-basement.) If they were constructed before titans started attacking for whatever reason, why are there salients? If after, how where they constructed considering you can't give your balls a good scratch outside without getting eaten, why are there gates, and why isn't the whole inner space split into more easily defendable sections of equal size? Also gates (weak spots in the walls) make no sense! just have lifts. And why are there salients on the inner walls? Why are they populated, why aren't these people working the fields instead? How much damage to a wall do titans cause? Have the walls even been breached? If yes, how did the humans reconquer the outer wall? If no, why aren't all those other faggots in the fields?
(Do titans beeline for the southern outer salient? If no, it's useless. If yes, the north outside the wall must be titan-free.)
NOT BAD: "Wall titans make no sense"
Wall titans make the best of a shitty premise, because there should be a minimum number of sources of magic. The other possibility is they were put in place by an advanced race to isolate naughty Eldians in a corrective prison which then went bad, like it went down in that Western anti-racist book with a titan rumbling (the first book I ever bought; ah, the halcyon days of youth). If you saw a wall titan and thought, wtf, this is retarded, you were 32 chapters late.
BAD: exiling people because of the lack of food
Say what? Potatoes take like three months to grow. People can live on reduced rations for a while - this is much less likely to lead to a revolt/coup than sending them to certain death (this is a fact - we know poorfags starve from Sasha's example and we know abandoning people will lead to a revolt/coup because if fucking did! from the breach of the middle wall fakeout) - and the newly displaced can be immediately put to work in the fields. Gourmet island has a population problem, they've got huge swaths of arable land lying fallow. Food stores are probably in the central city, not lost in the outer salients. All they lost is one round of crops from the outer wall. So what? Shitty harvests happen more frequently than colossal titan invasions. Again this was your cue to bail. If you think killing 30% of humanity because of a shitty harvest is ebig drama, you have no right to object to Eren's plan.
BAD: Historia's predicament and future generational curse
Doesn't need to happen. Milk shitbeard and make a shitton of royal-blooded heirs. If it's impossible, titanize Historia and have her cranking out kids (no chance of dying in childbirth with titan healing). One of them will be a boy, and once he hits puberty you're set. So: Historia dies young, one of her kids dies young, a couple generations of lottery when one person in a thousand to ten thousand dies young (still bad but not personal any more), and then you'll have a supply of old people approaching "natural" death from the Big Three whose lifespan will only be extended by titan cancer! It won't solve Eldia's looming problem of titan obsolescence, but it does put a stop to goffik generational drama.
BAD: speaking of shitbeard, Levi was done dirty.
He all but disappears from the second half and doesn't even get to kill shitbeard, just slices at a meat puppet. Sad.
BAD: breaking kayfabe
Isayama was doing good killing sufficiently developed secondary characters to maintain the illusion of danger. Then it all goes to shit. Characters are supposed to be fighting a world-ending threat and NO ONE FUCKING DIES except poor Floch, but he's supposed to be a villain - which makes him the only sympathetic character.
(Floch is a hero and deserved to live. Even a "better death" won't do, there's no "better death" when it comes to this type of character. Redemption through death is a retarded trope. All else being equal, he should've lived and got to see he'd been "wrong".)
GENIUS: Elena, a wokeshit reverse nigger pretending to be a minority for oppression points and "advocating" for another minority while planning a genocide of said minority.
ULTRABAD: none of the reverse niggers die.
Completely fucking unjust. Yes I hate them all and I'd rather they all died, but objectively at least one should've.
BAD: shitbeard talking to Armin
While shitbeard is wrong and Armin is when right talking about life, each of them draws the "wrong" conclusion from his own stance. Shitbeard says life equals breeding but advocates genocide, which is a fail state according to himself. Armin says it's ok if you had a good run and got to touch squirrels and stuff but objects to a graceful wrap-up.
BAD: Armin talking peace with reverse niggers
The whole scene is retarded. First there's no guarantee that a blood test actually shows titan powers - it might just check for Eldian dna, which doesn't go away when the magic associated with said dna fades. Second, a group of titans set on infiltrating normies no matter the cost can allow one of their own to die. They're soldiers and have seen worse.
BAD: Armin's promotion
Telegraphed so hard it's obscene.
BAD: Falco titanizing on a ship
He should've used a rowboat. If he failed to titanize, he'd only have sunk the boat. Engineers, my ass.
GREAT: an attractive visual style, good-looking characters, good character designs (clothes/equipment), hot women, no sameface, no dildoface, no porn, no rapefests.
BAD: the ass rockets are magical after all
Which is only revealed in the second half, forcing the reader suspend disbelief twice for no reason. It would've been better to either keep them vaguely realistic or get it out straight away and place the source of magic inside (or outside) the outer wall - inside would've emphasized the necessity of reconquering the outer wall, outside would've circularly justified the existence of the Survey Corps. Or, best of both worlds, make ass rocket fuel vaguely realistic, too, say they need platinum catalysts (or whatever) and here's the only platinum mine.
NOT BAD: Ymir, Historia's girlfriend
The fuck is wrong with you not being able to keep track of two characters named the same? How do you survive IRL? No wonder you lost in 'nam, those superhumans can handle 40 million Nguyens.
Also she's ultra hot. I started noticing her before she even was in the character roster.
BAD: making a big deal out of Levi's surname
By the same rubric. So fucking what.
BAD: Ymir keeping her name on gourmet island
Should've picked a less conspicuous name, 1) having realized she's not a god and 2) hanging out with Historia. It's good she didn't suffer the consequences for it, because she absolutely should have, and that would've been more retarded.
"At first, I wrote the names of the worst bigots I could think of like I was cleaning up the world, one name at a time, so that eventually no one will ever do wrongthink again."
"Since Kirx's appearance six years ago wars have stopped!...and global crime rates have increased by 70%."
Eren does not have godlike power. He has a measure of control over the physiology of Eldians. It is less than what Ymir (the progenitor) has, and hers is less than what the organic god has
It's definitely bad, and she should have been killed after she shot Sasha in the first place. That was one of the first major moments of retardation in the show, letting her live.
I agree it's not really that bad, it's extremely exaggerated and blown out of proportion by people, he's not an "incel" because he wants to be remembered by the girl he loves after he's gone. And their love is mutual (except Mikasa doesn't know that until after he manipulates her into killing him--wow he's retarded btw), it's not like it's unrequited love from his end, far from it.
However, he doesn't take back what he said. He just tells Armin not to tell Mikasa. It's a dumb scene and sloppy, maybe a little cringe, but I see what they were going for; giving him an emotional moment and revealing that he's not an aloof asshole like he pretends to be, acting tough.
Floch is a hero and deserved to live. Even a "better death" won't do, there's no "better death" when it comes to this type of character. Redemption through death is a retarded trope. All else being equal, he should've lived and got to see he'd been "wrong"
Floch wasn't wrong though, not in any sense (you put it in quotations so I'm not sure what you really meant about how he'd see he's wrong). He really was a hero, much more than Eren who betrayed his people by trying to break the "Titan curse" instead of wiping out the enemy, which ultimately resulted in them being wiped out in the future.
Never forget that Eren's an incel that could've easily told Mikasa he loved her at any moment, and she would've been on his dick faster than Levi is on a cup of tea, but he didn't because he's violent psychopath with a canonical intelligence stat of 3/10.
