Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

I can't find the post in question, but IIRC Null said at some point that both the resident contrarians and their most vocal opposition started reporting each other's posts constantly for "revenge rating", which turned it from an admittedly irritating sideshow to actual work for the mods, which is why he took Dyn's advice to restrict ratings entirely.
 
Revenge rating, especially on here, is among the absolute most retarded concepts I have ever heard.

I mean I know it's a thing, but I am just disgusted and exasperated.
 
The only sticker I would like added to the thunderdome is thunk provoking. I mean, come on, this is the home of the Deep Thoughts board. So many posts that get me thunking and I can’t rate them appropriately.
 
If any of the mods or dear leader want to comment, have the changes improved things? I know it was and still is an autistic shit fest here, but have reports and whining gone down since the sticker change?

Jesus christ, the shit with the stickers. Good lord. But I HAVE noticed less retardation, because if you want to call someone an autistic retard, you actually have to post about it. I mean, I don't give a shit, neg rate me, shower me in your hate. I don't give a fuck. I don't respond to negative stickers anyway, because if you want to engage, engage. If not, then give me an autistic sticker or a dumb sticker or whatever.

Though some people were too thin skinned and then got really fucking passive aggressive with reports and it was really annoying with both sides reporting each other. And now, of fucking course, people want them back like there was no problem. If Null puts them back, people who whine or engage in report wars will be banned from posting because I don't want to hear it. If you're too thin skinned for a sticker, maybe you shouldn't be posting here.

And stickers are MEANT to be passive aggressive and/or troll the shit out of you. I know we're all autistic and we love to see numbers go up on a counter that has no meaning and we don't like seeing red or it going down, but fucking hell, get a grip.

So basically Null got tired of A&N being the center of the site with all its autism and decided to curb it with rating restriction. So basically, we don't know how to act and a section is paying for it.

The point, and it was with digg too, was to cut down on "I agree" or "+1" posts. If you're old enough to remember forums before Reddit's ascent you'll know how common and cancerous that shit was. The voting didn't completely fix it, and part of reddit's problem is it is infested with faggots as much or more than the votes.
