Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Maybe my post wasn't worded clearly enough. I am requesting that the current megathread be locked and a new one be created at the same time, and that this happen around inauguration day. New presidency, new politisperging thread. That's all.

Seriously though: I’m fine with whatever, just used to years of being behind the members wall because the politics thread was too embarrassing for the public/rest of the site.
 
Calm down guys, I said in the OP that if mods had different plans that they were welcome to delete my thread. My main concern was that we were gonna have to make a new thread anyways because the current one was getting too big so I figured I'd jump the gun and do it myself.
 
I made 2 variants of an animated banner (I'll make them a GIF and transparent later) for the US Politics General once the thread comes back.

Indeed it is, I threw it together in pixlr in 30 minutes so it's not very good but I can post it here if you wanna use it
 
when can we expect the politics general back? We didn't get three months of election like last time, and there's a lot of day-to-day shit beyond the now-finished presidential race

plz don't theme it Trump-related, you and I both know that thread just veers into a general thread about American politics/current events instead of being about any individual politician.

Constructive suggestion: Change title of thread to "2024 U.S. Election" to avoid confusion and signify the non-Presidential races may be discussed there.

The Presidency has been decided. Right now people are mainly debating whether the Rs can keep their narrow seat lead in the House.
