On the subject of games I dont want them to play: any Tales of game ever. They're simple on the surface but Arin would be too stupid to even read or figure out how to execute combos based on Novice-Medium-Advanced chains or adjust his play style (and AI patterns) based on the enemies. I doubt he'd be able to link/unlink characters in Tales of Xillia. He'd just run around and get killed until he ran out of life bottles or the computers beat the enemies. Any JRPG would be bad news though, even with how simple or predictable some are...then there's always the fanbase running around holding whatever they say as gospel. That'd piss me off so much...

This is also why I wasn't happy when Arin and Jon continued playing Chulip, that game takes planning and attention. Grumps can't plan or pay attention. AT LEAST they didn't play it very long in the end.

I loved Chulip, and I was hoping they would at least look up a guide or something... It would've been fun to hear their commentary on all the crazy kisses in the game. Of course, Arin doesn't have the patience for that.

Yes, really. The main Grumps reddit blew up with a bunch of entitled fans pissing and moaning over how Ghoul Grumps was a tradition by this point and that to forgo on those episodes was very inconsiderate of the Grumps to do that to the fans who looked forward to those episodes every year. To make up for the 'goof up'; the Grumps released a short, goofy video of Arin and Dan wearing skeleton onsies while they danced around the office (everyone looked drained) and released one Ghoul Grumps episode (a Friday the 13th survival game). Needless to say, the spoiled fans were not impressed.

I still have very little sympathy for Arin because he thinks it's fun when those fans run roughshod over other people or communities (like whoever wrote that gamefaqs guide or the entire Miiverse) so when those same fans turn on him it's more poetic than anything else.

A bit late to posting this, but I wanted to make sure I got all my ducks in a row with this, so strap in for a bit of a long post.

Apparently, this one seemingly random nothing episode pissed quite a few people off due to the fact that they used another YouTuber's video to show the ending of Double Switch.

Should clarify for those who don't know that this isn't the first time they've done this. They did this once to show all the alternate endings of Bloodborne after Arin forgot to eat the Umbilical Cords to unlock the final boss, and again in Dead Rising after he couldn't fight the military and endgame enemies because he was so damn under leveled (you're supposed to be level 40 when you enter that area, he was level 19). However in both cases, people gave them leeway because not only did they credit the people involved in both the video and description, but nobody expected them to play through those games all over again or grind for episodes just to watch a cutscene.

What makes this especially exceptional was that the video was posted a whole week after the initial 3 episode run of it post-schedule change, so people legitimately thought that the series wasn't going to come out, and instead of them finishing the game, what happened instead was the entire episode is them making fart and shit jokes over someone else's walkthrough. No interaction, no real humor, they don't even comment on what's in the game.

The thing too is that Double Switch, to my knowledge, is a super short game and is heavily inspired by 90's FMV games where the entire point is to play through what's essentially an interactive movie where you earn your ending. Length and redos aren't an issue this time around.

It also turns out they never credited the guy at all, and instead used the description to advertise their merch links. Twice. One right under the subscribe link like they always do, and one in big hideous "PAY ATTENTION TO THIS" spacing and asterisk lines, whilst being written in all caps. The only mention that this was someone else's video was...they showed the title of the video.

And to top it all off: that was the only Game Grumps video for that day, with the only other upload being a TMPH schedule. This lead many fans on the main subreddit and in the comments pointing out that, A.) they basically just stole views from a small channel because they were too lazy and frustrated to finish the game because they read a walkthrough wrong (and yes, you read that right: they used a walkthrough for an FMV-based game and still somehow managed to fuck themselves over), B.) if they were going to do this, this should've been in the Free Slot on Fridays given it wasn't an actual "Game Grumps episode", and C.) if the schedule was made to cut down on stress and focus on other projects, why are they still half-assing episodes of the main show.

Give DSP credit: at least he actually plays the games he plays. He might be godawful at it, but it's much more interesting to watch than an awful episode of Mystery Science Game Grumps 3000.

Have to disagree with you on that last bit (and only that last bit) but "Not succeeding in games despite using a walkthrough or being told what explicitly to do in chat" and "I can't beat the game so I quit and/or just watching the ending on youtube without crediting the other channel" are DSP Staples.

well they have started the resident evil 2 demo. which means that there either goin to make it the next series or they just wanted the quick views for whatever reason.

It's a one shot - it says so in the title.

So, once the demo is finished, that'll be it.
mm I dont know maybe its me being optimistic but it could be referring to the fact that the demo itself was 30 minutes I dont know but I actually hope they continue when it releases mostly cause there commentary on it was.....ok which considering the state of the channel and the re not being many jokes ive laughed at lately or found funny is extradinary only real issue is that I found the joke at the end just them being unorinal and downright insulting considering the time we live in now but that might be a subjective opinion

it's probably lost to the sands of time and I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but does anyone have screenshots of that long as fuck post Arin posted to Reddit about fans pointing out that Suzy was an obnoxious cunt?

Okay so it's not as long as I remembered but it's still terrible

Suzy has almost always been universally hated by the fans, she isn't funny and wasn't a good addition when she was on the show. She's only been on there a handful of times, hasn't she?

Also, if she loved the fans so much, why would she want to scam them?

But even looking back at a few video's during the Jon era, I could detect Arin being a impatient complaining douche with getting his ass handed on Donkey Kong Country 2 and ragequitting that game

It was Jon that ragequit because he refused to get lives in the early levels from his attempt to speedrun the game that totally backfired.

and getting butthurt over people calling him out over how bad he is at Star Fox 64.

This, however, is very true.

Do you understand that if he even touched Tales of Vesperia or Tales of The Abyss, I might accidentally unironically pull a DSP and scream "BULLSHIT DOODS" & "BUGGED LIFE MECHANICS"

I haven't checked their channel since last year but I have to say, Arin's new artstyle is... very 2005 Deviantart. The old classic was rounded and smooth, while this is very... offputting. A lot of angles and unnecessary lines. It looks like he tries to imitate jhonen vasquez with the eyes in some, but it just makes the image even uglier.

f you're referring to their channel mascots (the heads/avatars); I don't think Arin made them - he had someone else create them for the channel.

Sorry I'm a little late on this one, but yes, Arin no longer draws the grump heads anymore. In my opinion, it feels like he's too lazy to draw them anymore, which is odd considering how you can just re-use them? Although going back to the merch peddling theory, their artist also draws other works of their designs that I think they use on merchandise, so it could also be to tie it all together into one consistent look. That Arin is too lazy to do.

Anyway, this is their artist, while the grump art is sub-par, I actually enjoy what she's able to do with more colors and details. I guess it's proof that anything the Grumps brand is on turns to shit.

This, however, is very true.

I'm willing to bet that was a temporary ragequit since the DKC games have battery saves. The thing is that the DKC 2 was towards the end of the Jon era.

What even is the appeal of Game Grumps? Every episode sounds like the worst radio show ever. They just talk about random shit with no real topic while only occasionally bringing up the game itself. The game is really just there for visual.
Do people actually find anything they have to say interesting? “I had a car, and it exploded.” “I was in NY this morning and now I’m back on LA”
Seriously, who cares? I can only assume the audience consists solely of people who have no friends whatsoever and use their show so they can pretend they’re sitting on the couch with them.
Part of me hopes that they laugh along and say shit like “oh, Arin~” or “oh, it’s just like that one you when you-“
