Is it a complete waste of time to attempt to use software that allows you to play PC games on mac? Im getting a base level M2 mac mini as a glorified smart TV and it would be nice to have the option. Im buying the stupid thing no matter what, I was just wondering how retarded it is to go down that rabbit hole.

Late and gay, but you could have just gotten a Raspberry Pi for 50-80 dollars. I suspect that thing has "smart tv" options. And Linux distributions that essentially serve as a frontend for things like Retroarch.

He said PC games, like, computer games people actually play, not shitty totes dark and gritty clones of Sonic for the Sega Genesis.

(no offence intended, I'm a big fan of drilling clowns to death)

I think he's talking about how you can stream steam games from your desktop PC to a Pi 4 or 5 using Steamlink. With a bit of tinkering on a Pi 5, you can set up Emulation Station to emulate everything up to the Gamecube, stream Steam games from your PC and launch Kodi to watch pirate streams and play videos you have downloaded on your PC and shit. You can use Konsta Kang's images to set it up like an Android box and you can install apps from the Google Play store that will let you use official apps to stream steam games from your PC, watch stuff like Netflix/Hulu/Youtube, play your pirated content via Kodi or VLC, play native Android TV games and emulate classic consoles.

Is it my imagination or is macOS more buggy then it used to be? Sometimes when clicking between apps the mouse gets super big for a split second, for example.

I remember Snow Leopard being rock solid and Tiger was still pretty good

There are at least several much more profitable and cheaper option to Mac Mini.

First of all, Steam Link is now Android app available on many Smart TV's. If you don't have Android based TV and still willing to play games from Steam there is Ebay with used Steam Link devices for 50 bucks or so. Be frugal.
Secondly, if you aim for multimedia center streaming device I would consider buying NAS devices from second hand. Many of them can be reconditioned by replacing default OS with custom one. What's more PLEX is availble on every device that is capable of rendering graphics. Thus, with such device connected to you router every Smart TV capable to connecting Wi-Fi or ethernet will be streaming your porn seamingly in your home or wherever you wanna be by unlocking port and putting some effort to make you NAS visible outside your local network.
Lastly, you can do some tinkering with Raspberry Pi which in my opinion would be cheaper than NAS but requires much more effort put into it to make it running.

The only reason for Apple Mini would be having whole ecosystem in house revolving around Apple solutions such as Apple Home, Apple TV and so on. Hence, I wouldn't recommend that option unless you have some spare money.

Is this compatible with the M1 iMac? I'm trying to find a dock that can work with both the M1 iMac and a Lenovo Legion Go (USB4 with display port alt mode) that I can connect two monitors to and several usb devices. So I don't need to buy two expensive hubs and a kvm
I don’t see why it wouldn’t if it’s Thunderbolt/USB

Just had a random thought come up? What are the true Apple Cultists up to. I do not iPhone users, or people who buy a MacBook to browse the web. I mean the fanboys who obsessed over every new Mac, people who hear the name John Scully and groan. The nerds who revered Steve Jobs pretty much like republicans over Trump.

I used to follow Apple fanboy sites because my family had Macs until they determined Windows XP was good enough to stop paying the Apple tax. Forums like MacNN (pretty much dead) and MacRumors (still alive) are insanely nostalgic for me.

Well I got my answer and yes they’re still around. Discussing Steve Jobs vs Tim Cook like it’s Kirk vs Spock. Say what you want about Apple fanboys, but I appreciate that the real ones do know their history. If I met a real Apple fanboy and talked about the first computer I ever used the Macintosh Quadra they would be able to tell me all about that piece of antiquated junk I mainly used to play the lamest shareware games on earth.

On that note is it easy now to emulate OS 7 thru 9? Because damn I now really want to play some old shareware.

I bet nobody here ever had Quadlink by Quadram and ran Apple ][ emulation shit on a PC in the '80s on a card that basically had an Apple on it.

I had an Apple IIgs.

It didn't work as we didn't have the floppy drive or any disks, but still

I doubt you ever had a card on an IBM PC that allowed you to run an Apple ][ natively.

I knew an old guy some years ago who had worked under Steve Jobs while at Apple. He described him as a fascist, lol. A great leader and a real dick he'd say.
