Can they not just convert random old buildings into soundstages anymore? Stargate has a long history of that, as The Bridge Studios, where SG-1 and Atlantis were shot, was a former bridge fabrication facility (most famously, the Golden Gate Bridge was built there), and heck even the original film's sets were built in the Spruce Goose's hangar in Long Beach.
