Anthony got a bump in popularity last year when this July 2013 livestream footage of him drunkenly telling his cousin how much he always wanted to fuck her found it's way back to the internet after he tried to bury it years prior.
It had some success in a cringe subreddit which resulted in it finding it's way to this cringe compilation that, as of this post, has 640,934 views. Anthony even made the thumbnail. Not too shabby.
A whole new audience completely unfamiliar with him from Opie & Anthony were introduced to Anthony Cumia and what did they think...
Anthony's 2nd biggest success last year was publishing his book. He sold 4 copies at his big Barnes & Noble book signing.
Material like this private DM Anthony sent someone got added to the mountain of evidence of what a creep the guy really is. When he was on Opie & Anthony, he could get away with saying things like this:
The Opie & Anthony Show was generally a comedy show with a lot of the comedy being very dark so it gave him a built in defense. When I was acting like the Tex Avery wolf around that child...that was a joke. This show is full of exaggeration for humor. He didn't really get found out until people noticed some of his behavior where he couldn't use that defense.
Like the time someone noticed that Anthony had 'liked' some Vines made by what appeared to be underage girls.
Anthony would confirm that nothing fishy (foreshadowing) was going on by immediately deleting his Vine account.
He did end up kind of talking about it on his show at the time, The Anthony Cumia Show, except he didn't mention shutting down his Vine account (or mention Vine at all), didn't show any images and claimed what people had a problem with occurred on Twitter. Pretty sneaky, Nana. Muddying those waters.
Someone may have noticed the Vine likes because Anthony previously got catfished by a 39 year old man posing as a 14-15 year old girl called @SelfCuttingGirl (or "Alyssa").
The model Anthony is referring to there was his girlfriend at the time, model Melissa Stetten. A month after they broke up, she wrote a blog about her time dating Anthony (she would later delete this) which is very much worth reading in it's entirety. But here's the relevant part in regards to the catfishing:
The man who played the part of @selfcuttinggirl, a groomable 14-year old girl, gave his side of the story at one point but was later deleted. Good thing someone saved all the text of it.
It was not an iPad I got from Anthony it was a Apple Macbook, someone else got me a iPad off my (or selfcuttinggirl) amazon wish. I never ONCE asked Anthony or anyone for anything, but if they sent me something, its their fault I guess.

I was always a big fan of O&A so i would listen to the show and tweet as 'her' during the show. That should have given it away. She was NEVER at school. It was during a Jocktober that i started this and before long Anthony started to RT me, and everything blow up after that. I would tweet and guys would come out of the woodwork to 'hit on' me. The Paramorecunt account become SelfCutterGirl but was taken off by twitter and i cant recall way. I think I tweeted a underwear pic and someone reported it. Never knew for sure. I made a new account, "SelfCuttingGirl". I returned to tweeting the show and Anthony soon not only RT me but followed me. Then after a few days Anthony DM me, i never DM him first. We talked a little and i thought it was funny. I thought for sure he got the joke or would very soon. The DM went for a few days then he gave me his number to text. So i did. We texted about Star Trek (who was better Mudd or Q), we talked about the show (and at the time how he felt one of the co-workers was really boring and lame). I was overwhelmed with being somewhat on the inside. Now if i wanted to add to a topic during the show i could txt Anthony and he would bring up my point on the show. Or I could tweet him and he would RT, getting me more followers. Not just my "selfcuttinggirl" account but other parody accounts i was doing.
Is this sad? YES! Before all this started i was married and had a good family. But things happened months before i started this and i found myself divorced and my house being foreclosed on. Also doing this i was laid off at work. So around me everything we falling a part and i escaped like the loser i am in to twitter. When I was "Alyssa" i didn't have to worry about the ex, the kids, the house, the job, etc.
Soon after screwing around as her, i meet a real teenage girl on twitter and we kind of worked together. I will not say who she is but she was in on it more than anyone knows.
It went on for over a year or more of me tweeting as her, doing fake fights with this girl that was helping me, etc. Then I got greedy and the truth came out. The 'hunter' did not hire someone to look in to me as it was said on the show. What happened is this 'hunter' started to DM and asking me to sell things for him on Ebay. I would get some of the money. He got really creepy over time as we started to text. Then he started to want to send me all kinds of shit in the mail. I gave him my address , before long he was sending me toys to sell for him and some as gifts. As he started to want to meet 'alyssa' i started to not talk to him as much. However he wanted to send me money for helping him and i gave him my real paypal account, saying it was a family friend. That is how he got my name. A friend of his then google images searched some pictures i used as 'alyssa' and they found her photo bucket. I was busted. The 'hunter' then told my female friend and he told Sam, who told Anthony.
My friend still talks to Antony and i have told her to tell him that i would repay him for the notebook and the $200 he sent me to by a iPhone. But she told me he said he didn't need my fucking money and to get lost. As for the Hunter guy, FUCK HIM, he was a fucking CREEPY and would talk very dirty to me as 'Alyssa'.
Anthony would a little but it was never as creepy as it was with 'hunter' did it. That guy is weird.
So I was busted and i deleted my Selfcuttinggirl account. I was still shocked all this happened, it was amazing. I would tweet about watching The Fall Guy or tell Anthony about some old show i liked. I never thought everyone would believe me. Is it my fault they did? I was so over the TOP i don't see how people believed it.
On the air a few lies did get told. Opie acted like he had NO IDEA who "Selfcuttinggirl" was but that is BULLSHIT. He was RT me a lot and even DM telling me to "KNOCK IT OFF" when i tweeted he was dead. He knew the name. He was RT a lot of my tweets about the Boston Bomber days before i was found out. Jimmy said he 'blocked me' cause he knew i was a fake, that he could always tell. I never really talked with Jimmy but as for as i know he never banned me, i aways could see his tweets, maybe he just didn't see mine. He did email me a few times and did DM me asking me "What is a Paramore Cunt?".
Anyone that remember, or followed me, you know i made twitter fun and thats all that matters. Was it wrong to fool everyone? I guess so. Do i feel bad for it? I feel about screwing with Anthony cause he was a nice guy, i was kind of shocked about that. I am sorry that it all got out of hand with him. As for the "hunter"? It may seem strange that someone would admit to being catfished, make up an obvious lie, wipe their Twitter and then later publicly address questions about the subject on reddit. However, the Cumia brothers are both unbelievably stupid men who think of themselves as devilishly clever. Anthony was trying to court the Opie & Anthony subreddit community at the time to drum up business for his terrible paywall basement show. He likely thought no one saved evidence and he could address this as a rumor. Appear transparent in an effort to conceal the truth.
So, what was his response when links to evidence started being sent his way?

The man who catfished Anthony also made reference to interacting with another person they called "Hunter". Someone put out a theory that this may have been Anthony's long time right hand man and former police officer, Keith Maresca and Anthony responded with this.
Turns out he was referring to this guy.

Also mildly unrelated, but the old producer of the OnA radio show will sneak onto the sub from time to time to shit on ant (who i believe is in a working relationship with again) and jim before deleting the messages. the last message i saw was how jim ghosted ant recently when ant had a massive health scare.

Nah, I think Keith is too dumb to pull off something like that, nor does it make sense that he would need to: a lot of people think that the reason for Keith and Ant's creepy, co-dependent relationship in the first place (didn't Keith and his wife live in Ant's house at some point?) was because Keith had ton of dirt on Ant that he covered up from when he was an active member of the NYPD. That seems to make a little more sense as to why Ant made Keith head of all the behind-the scenes-operations at CM, despite not having any producer (or even basic tech duty) credentials whatsoever.

Hate to kill the mystery of it, but in this clip Opie is referring to having found out Anthony ran, or was one of the operators of, a Twitter account that would brutally beat Opie, up to and including making fun of his (allegedly) retarded baby daughter. It was revealed on Reddit at a time when Opie pretended like he didn't read the O&A board, so he couldn't admit that's what he was talking about outright. But that's what it was.

The best part is that there really was no evidence that that really was Anthony other than hearsay from one jilted former associate. Sadly the account from the original AMA was nuked but if I remember correctly I don't think he even said anything conclusively, just something like "I think that was Ant". I'm not sure I really even believe it, but even if it were true it's hilarious that something so dumb and petty would be the big dark secret that Opie could never reveal. I'd agree, but the former employee was Danny, the only person who could have reasonably been described as one of Anthonys actual (i.e. not discount Wack Pack poker rejects) friends before falling out. While he could have been saying that just to get a fight started, I'm more inclined to believe it was actually ol passive aggressive Pissy Eyes. It just seems like something ol big talker Cumia would do instead of ever provoking a real life confrontation.
It very likely was Anthony but if I found out it was any other person on the O&A staff I wouldn't be surprised. As time has gone on you realize all of them hated Opie but were nice to his face while talking behind his back. Don't get me wrong, dealing with Opie sounds like a nightmare even when based on Opie's description of his own behavior. But thinking about it from Opie's side paints a pretty unflattering picture of everyone else. Many of them didn't just tolerate him but actively defended Opie against people criticizing him and hung out with him socially outside of work. They did all that while secretly despising him and constantly bashing him in private. When he finally finds out and confronts them about this, they gaslight him. Jim admits to secretly hating Opie for over a decade in the foreward to Anthony's book.
But as for the identity of @BizarroOpie, take a look through these and judge for yourself.
UPDATE: Cream Pie Jones, a former O&A intern, has confirmed that former producer Derek was @BizarroOpie as people originally believed. He also mentions that Opie thought it was Anthony.

This makes sense because Danny would have likely known about Opie's old suspicion that Anthony was running that account. At the time Danny said it was Anthony, there had been no contact between the two for a while which makes me think it was an attempt to get Anthony's attention.

Unfortunately I can't find Danny's comment where he took it back but he basically said he misremembered that it was Anthony and cited the Mandella effect. At the time that defense didn't make any sense but it now appears he was making reference to Opie thinking it was Anthony.
One mildly negative O&A reference sends Anthony into a tizzy when talking about Seinfeld.
Man, Anthony sure is showing time who's boss.
Nana is now living in obscurity (aka behind the Compound Media paywall) but he used to try to interact with potential subscribers online. It always began very pleasant but the criticism would eventually sent Anthony spiraling as evidenced by his brief courtship with the O&A subreddit.
