I'd agree, but he landed Bill Burr recently. A year ago if you said he'd be getting people actually gave a shit about, I'd say you were full of shit. He's plugging away at a low-rent podcast, but he's not routinely humiliating himself either.

Bill still remembers the old days. Maybe a couple years ago now, he used "Douch-chills" on his podcast, and gave O&A credit as the source. Reminiscing, he sighed and said something like, "I wish it could be like it was..."

All those guys are fiercely loyal: Robert Kelly, Rich Vos, etc. I think Bill was supporting someone who supported him from way back, rather than Opie "getting" a current celebrity.

I don’t get that impression at all from listening to the WhoAreThesePodcast? podcast. The host plays snippets of Opie’s show every week at the end of his podcast and Opie comes off as being as delusional as Maddox, if not more so.

I'd stopped following the show right before Ant got canned. As much as I love Jimmy, I couldn't take Opie's laboured breathing into the mic any more. I'm not really up on what's happening (as far as Ant's troubles, I prefer to remain blissfully unaware) :/

I hadn't heard of the "WhoAreThesePodcast?" podcast. They follow the Lolcows of the Podcasting world, I guess? In one of their latest episode synopses, it's said of Opie: "This guy is the gift that just keeps on giving!"

Maybe Opie isn't the one who could "leave it alone". In that episode, he was apparently "uploading a video to call out Joe Rogan". Maybe Opie has some Lolcow potential himself, flying under the radar has Ant remains the bigger attraction.

Opie is doing a lot better then Anthony. Sure, he's not a huge radio host anymore. But's he found success in far more important aspects. He's enjoying life, is raising a family and is doing something he actively enjoys. Sure, it's a small podcast that doesn't draw in tons of listeners. But he actively enjoys doing it. He's no longer the miserable co-host of a radio show where the fans hated him. He comes off as a much happier human being compared to his O&A days.

In short: Opie is living life and enjoying it to it's fullest. Cumia is in a never-ending cycle of misery that has no end in sight.

Right on. I kind of got that from the series of videos about Cumia, I was just wondering what else he (Opie) might have been doing, so thanks for that clarification.

This is the video he's talking about.
"No pressure, Joe!"

Opester has a ton of cow potential, but it's harder to get him to visably react anymore. When he had a radio show and a caller got him pissy, it was in real time and he would snap in an instant. Nowadays, he's blockhappy on Twitter and his podcast is recorded and uploaded with editing. It's harder to ambush him on air like it would be for Jim, or get in a compromising position like Ant is always in. Shit like blowing up his ego and giving him enough courage to go after people on Twitter and do shit like he did with Rogan and Luis J Gomez seems like the only real avenue I can see atm.

I still think Opie and Anthony were never the main autism attraction. The universe of autism surrounding them is where a lot of the funny shit comes from. The wackbag/reddit followings produced autism gold, with the pinnacle being one of their fans ending up on To Catch a Predator and plugging their show while Chris Hanson was questioning him. God that shit was funny.

The Ant and Opie's Lolcow content's come up after the show fell apart, exacerbating their worst qualities as neither of them seems to recognize that it was those worst qualities that caused the show to fall apart in the first place.

The Pests were (are?) people from here, basically. One of them's gonna try to shoot some people, one of them will think he's god, whatever. In addition to the fan that ended up on To Catch A Predator, there was also the guy who ran a fan-site that ended up getting arrested for child porn

Does Opie have fans? I remember that there was a collection of absolute morons who genuinely supported him on Twitter but they were mostly old truckers who I doubt can figure out how to listen to something that isn't on SiriusXM. I've only heard clips of Opie's podcasts from other sources but he comes off as a sadder version of Scorch now.

He does!
And all the people who know he's messed up , like me , would step on our mothers spine for him and Ant to make up haha .

His podcast is different than the old days and has listeners. I'm not one but good for him .

Both guys are multi millionaires and could just fade away .

Am I the only one that didn't think Opie ever really had a place? The comedy of the show was centered around Anthony, Jimmy, and whoever the guest was. I still think if Jimmy and Anthony could work together with Sam as the board op, you'd have a show as good as O&A with fewer issues. Jimmy's SiriusXM loyalty isn't going to allow that, which I understand, but from the perspective of a listener, I care more about the show's quality than the financial needs of the performers.

Nope. Opie is absolutely useless and was always a detriment to the show, his entire career is due to the sheer coincidence of bringing Jim and Anthony together. I would say he had a talent for finding funny people but based on his new crew and his tendency to bring complete bores on the show I can't give him that credit. People used to trip over themselves to explain how he had some sort of role on the show (hence the "steering the ship" meme) but his awfulness became more apparent when he attempted to go solo.

So ok...I was with them in WAAF Boston 1994-1997. I remember being poor driving a parts truck 2 shifts a day listening to radio and drinking my Dunkin Donuts as a teenager. I remember the Menino prank, then to us in New England, they fell off the radar.

I missed the ascent into millionaires in the 90's and the Sex for Sam thing.

I bought a new car in 2006 with XM and got caught back up, right, so I missed all this history but still NEW "oh shit I got XM what channel is O&A!?". Now an adult with money etc.

Diving in, I didn't feel like Opie was any problem.

I did in 2007 XMas season, start to question why he would always go "HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON muttered joke" when guys like Patrice were talking of Vos was on a fucking rooooll

I never really saw the issues until Chip became a character all the time and O&A had that fight I think in 2008 or 2009 over the grapes and yogurt. From then on I kind of realized oh ok I get, they've been a duo forever.

It wasn't until Ant got canned in July 2014 I noticed what a drain Opie was.

IMO, you need BOTH of them to balance the ship. I do pay for Compound media but I rarely tune in, if that makes sense.

YES, Norton, Cumia + ROberts as Replacement Opie would be fucking killer. There are some good Cumia shows now that Artie "3 stories" Lange is in the hospital.

Chip wasn't my breaking point with Opie, as I wasn't and still aren't a big fan of Chip, but moreso Uncle Paul. There were even cringy Uncle Paul skits that were only funny because you knew Opie was writhing in his chair.

This wasn’t always the case. Opie’s main contribution to the show was being the bully who was an asshole to other weaker kids at the schoolyard and always got away with it. And the fans loved him for it. Case in point Stalker Patty.

I always love O&A back in the day. Hey that rhymed! Anyway...Anthony's podcast is just well, sad....and his guests...even sadder. He lost any edge he ever had and is a rather disgusting cat if ya ask me.

Opie seems to come and go...good days bad days....bully...victim...ya never know. I liked some of his pop ups but I think it's because Carl Ruiz was pretty fucking funny. I have not listened to any of his Opie's podcasts. I guess I just don't care enough.

As far as Jim and Sam...they suck. I cannot stand to listen to them at all. Jim is a total putz...brown noser….weak assed boy. I though Chip was funny the first few times I heard it but that got old quick. I will not listen to any of that shit ever again.

Sam....oh good lord. What a nuthin'

Ok carry on....

Opie gave a good balance and brought good knowledge on how a show should flow and rhyme due to his background in broadcasting. His two issues were IMO one he didn't have a quick wit and thus couldn't keep up when Ant, Jim, and guest comedians when they were riffing hence him becoming a joke killer in some cases Opie worked like classic radio with set up bits not anything freestyle. Last Opie was way too thin skinned especially for a guy who liked to give it.

Now I'm expecting Opie to talk about nothing inherently being wrong with being a cuck.

Ant was on Joe Rogan about a week ago. I'm only about 2 hours into it but I'm not seeing anything very cringey yet.

It'll only be cringy if you understand just how much he's lying about various shit. He still dropping the "And these fans, they're like the children of divorced parents!" gem like it was the most poignant bomb he could drop, ignoring that everything people have been fucking with him over has been based in reality, and not because "they mad Opie and Anthony ended".

If you have free time, the Beige Frequency docs on YouTube document everything in detail, and while Anthony isn't wrong about "obsessive people hounding me!", he's blatantly making shit up about what specifically they're doing and their motivation for doing it.

Goddamn he looks like a ghoul in that photo with Joe. How does alcohol fuck up your face like that?

Then again, he never was the photogenic sort..
