Why is funimation allowed near things:

The voice actors even have an issue with the British accents. I was thinking it would be one to sound better with all the different nationalities and their accents- nah. ends up they suck at imitating accents.

And news today; they're delaying episode 7. Instead they released the dub of episode 5.

Edit: (I thought about a future) God forbid they get up to the introduction of Gascoigne or any other group related to the two factions of France. I don't want to hear their French accents.

I know I'm late on this one, but it's related to recent stuff so whatever.
I finished the original Franken Fran manga about a week ago, and I have to say, it might be one of my new favorites. There's so much to like about it.
The art is great, especially on the monsters. The characters are memorable and unique, Fran's concept of morality is a blast to watch. It can flip from funny to fucked-up page by page very well. I highly recommend it. I love the 'big messed up family' that grows as the series goes on, especially watching Veronica and Fran interact with each other. My favorite chapter is probably the one about The Wandering Jew. It was wholesome, more mellow, and the ending was done so well on that one.
The new run, Franken Fran Frantic, seems to be capturing the same spirit of the original so far. Even if it's only on chapter 3 or something, I'm enjoying it, and I hope it revives some interest in the property as a whole.

No. The Shaman King 4kids dub was perhaps the worst dub I've ever seen. Completely unwatchable.

It's not a good dub, but it's probably the closest we've gotten to a "good" 4Kids dub that wasn't "So bad, it's good" or one of their Pokemon dubs.

Anyone that could do accents for them either live in or moved to LA a long time ago. Beyond what's left of their old guard, they're just stuck with a bunch of people who can barely act, let alone put on an accent.

Also, gotta love production issues on the Japanese end of things. Only reason why recaps are a thing in the first place. Makes me wonder why Japan can't just stop and take a look at how shit their industry is. It's populated by overworked and underpaid animators and the mouthbreathing fandom on both sides of the pacific with little inbetween.

I read some Franken Fran a decade ago I think, I liked it quite a bit but unfortunately I fell off it after a point, I'm glad to hear it's still going though.

It really is a shame to see Funimation fall so hard.
Most people with talent there either went into voice acting for western animation/video games because it pays better or moved to LA.
You would think people that literally worked in a library would know to at least flip through a book enough to figure out how mature the content is, or at least read some reviews. Even older books can have some extremely mature content. I remember that one time I had to write a book review for a class, and the criteria was that it either had to be fiction from the middle ages, or fiction about the middle ages. I found a book that was written in the 19th century, and within about ten chapters, the main character who was a princess was brutally raped by people trying to sabotage an arranged marriage.
Most people still think comic/cartoon= for kids

Uh oh, Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express 999, and Space Battleship Yamato manga creator Leiji Matsumoto, who is 81, suffered an apparent stroke at an event in Italy and is reportedly in serious condition.

The website for the Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported on Saturday that according to Italian media, artist and manga creator Leiji Matsumoto was hospitalized in Turin, Italy on Friday after collapsing. The Asahi Shimbun noted that it is suspected that he had a stroke and that he is in serious condition. The newspaper added that according to Italian media, after Matsumoto started speaking inarticulately at an event, staff took him back to his hotel, and he was then taken to hospital via emergency transport.

The Kyodo news agency also confirmed on Saturday through the Corriere della Sera daily newspaper that Matsumoto has been hospitalized for a suspected stroke and is in serious condition, but the agency did not confirm the other details noted by Asahi Shimbun.

The Leiji Matsumoto Cultural Association, the organization hosting Matsumoto's stay in Italy, noted on Friday that Matsumoto is currently undergoing medical examination, but his current situation remains unclear.

Matsumoto was in Turin to attend a series of events that celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Captain Harlock anime's debut on Italian television. According to the Leiji Matsumoto Cultural Association, Matsumoto was scheduled for an autograph signing at the Cinema Massimo on Friday, but was only able to sign a few autographs before retiring to his hotel room and undergoing medical supervision. At the moment, Matsumoto's commitments on Saturday and Sunday are currently being evaluated.

Matsumoto was born in 1938, and he debuted as a manga artist in 1953 with Michibachi no Bōken (Honeybee's Adventure) while he was still in high school. His notable works include Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express 999, and Queen Emeraldas — all of which inspired multiple anime or live-action adaptations — and he contributed designs and created the tie-in manga for Space Battleship Yamato. He also supervised animated music videos for French electronic pop group Daft Punk's Discovery album, and the videos were strung together into the INTERSTELLA 5555 film. His designs and works have influenced multiple generations of artists around the world.

In 2001 Matsumoto was awarded the "Medal with Purple Ribbon" honor, and in 2010 he was awarded with the "Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette." In 2012 he received the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) decoration from the French government.

It really sucks. You get these 'recap' episodes, and then when it doesn't sell, they rush it and fuck up the story (looking at you Akame Ga Kill. Manga was far superior). The problem is that Western companies are exploitative and don't really do anything to give the studios cash to solve the problem, just the people who have the rights. Then everything rests on Blu-Ray sales, which are exploitative towards the consumer because they're extraordinarily expensive and go like 'Episodes 1-3!' and you have to buy 10 of them just to get the series. I mean, the silver lining is that they're still made for a Japanese audience and the West is ancillary because it really isn't giving them much cash.

So to me its not a wonder why dubs are trash. Anime is a razor thin margin as is. But still, Funimation is trash, Crunchyroll is trash. I'm only subscribed to HDIVE because Sentai Studios seems like the only decent licesnee around.

Immortal Hounds is a good, reverse Ajin. Instead of a few people being unkillable, most of the planet is and it's the ones who aren't that are hunted down because they are viewed as monsters for possessing the ability to somehow strip people of their immortality. Worth checking out.

I watched a few episodes of the logh remake that's out on crunchyroll it's okay.

Ooh, don't have to ask me twice to talk about what weeb shit I've been watching.
Some guy I know told me to watch Demon Slayer. I didn't know what the hype was about until now, it's a great show.

Also watching Happy Sugar Life and of course JoJo. Aside from that I've been cautiously eyeing up Beastars because the weird Twitter furries on my timeline are going apeshit over it and I want to see what that's about. Please Take My Brother Away season 3 is ongoing so I've been watching that on and off too.

Finished the Yusuke's ordeal and artifacts of darkness arcs of Yuyu Hakusho and I've also finished episode 2 of Genkai's tournament. This show has a pretty fast pace.
