Beastars is pretty rad imo, though discussion is pretty hard because of all the fucking furries.

The anime skips a couple of stuff, and strips some of the violent scenes a bit, so I'd recommend reading the manga afterwards.

Just started watching Shield Hero. Liking it so far. Is this what Sword Art Online would have been if it wasn't absolute trash?

Was the twitter meltdown when it came out honestly over what happens in the first episode? Its not even remotely controversial. This anime has a bitch character in it. So what?
It shouldn't have been controversial, but in this age of special snowflakes, controversy was made. I find it amusing because I've read translations of the original webnovel and oh boy does that contain a few things that make what's done in the first episode look like a romp with friendly puppies (think essentially consigning a villain to another villain for the creation and distribution of a snuff film, then watching it to make sure first villain is actually dead). The Light Novel version, which pretty much everything else Shield Hero is based on (mangas, spinoffs, anime) begins to differ relatively early on from the original webnovel, but there's still potential for another round of controversy to strike thanks to the perpetually offended.

I actually liked the Shield hero quite a bit. I started reading the Manga- then had to put it down because work was picking up. How far does it deviate from the webnovel? Is it becoming a story of its own or is it a watered down version of the original?

Take anything I say from this point on with a grain of salt, as it's been years since I read the webnovel translations and I only got so far into the Light Novel translations before they were officially licensed and the internet translators stopped working on it.
I believe the main divergence happens pretty much immediately after the Queen returns and how the heroes end up experiencing their stays at Experience Buffet Island which is also a resort. In short, there are heroes other than the four summoned heroes, and they play a far greater role in the Light Novel (and other adaptations) than in the webnovel, where with maybe one exception they're mostly mentioned in passing at best. Once the Spirit Turtle arc begins, the stories diverge even greater, particularly with the roles the other three heroes play in the disaster, with them essentially waking up the sleeping evil, getting party wipes and then spending their time wandering around causing trouble or going insane in the webnovel whereas they're held captive by a hostile party in the Light Novels and other media. I assume the divergence continues though I never read far enough to find out.
I'd say that the Light Novel isn't a watered down version of the original and it's better directed and focused. After a while, the webnovel pretty much became a slice-of-life where Naofumi tries to build a town and his companions keep causing hijinks, then goes suddenly into serious and tragedy with a few named characters dying, and then the original ending of the webnovel had
Naofumi and Raphtalia die fighting the ultimate big bad and suddenly find themselves in the library from which Naofumi was summoned, no explanations given. This was later changed, obviously, because that's a kinda shit ending.
So if you like either of the manga or anime adaptations, odds are you'll like the Light Novel too.

Just finished Macross 7. The Beauty of Completion.
Basara's a bit crazy, but I see the method to his madness. It takes alot of guts to move the universe with the power of Rock and Roll.
It was fun seeing the Fire Bomber group becoming superstars.
I wish I could see some development of the Battle 7 bridge bunnies

In the songs category, Urusei Yatsura took the top spot with its opening theme "Lum's Love Song" by Yūko Matsutani. "Change the World" by V6 from Inuyashatook second place and the impossibly catchy "Jaja Uma ni Sasenai de" by Etsuko Nishio from Ranma 1/2 took third.

Does Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer even count as a Rumiko Takahashi work? It's one of my favourite anime films but I recognize that it's mostly Mamoru Oshii doing his own thing with Takahashi's characters.

That is a very good question there, I often see it as an Oshii film with Takahashi characters thrown in too.

Mujaki and Baku actually did appear in an Urusei Yatsura chapter that I think predates the second film but the story of the film otherwise doesn't have much of any similarity to anything from the manga.

Because false rape accusations never, ever happen ever.

Twitter has been melting down over anime consistently starting with Shield Hero and then Goblin Slayer, both of which were wildly successful in spite of them. Nowadays Twitter is weeping and moaning over anime tits while the Japs are pretty much like, "Yeah, your Marvel films are sexless and we don't care what Westerners think."

So they've been losing their minds lately. Hilariously, every time some dumb cunt goes "Where are her organs?" The latest thing they've tried to meme, people brigade them with images of real women who basically look identical to the drawings they're whining about.

Aside from the usual SJW bitching about sexy women Shield Hero was dropped right into the shitty MeToo climate which caused even more tard rage when it showed quite brutally that women can lie to screw a guy's life up just for fun.

Yeah, saw that happen when some freelance artist made a sexy Captain Marvel.

People on twitter cant comprehend that,
false rape accusations exist.

It's such a foreign concept to them.
