"DON'T PIRATE, SUPPORT YOUR AMERICAN ANIME DISTRIBUTORS LIKE FUNIMATION!"

This is something that confuses me immensely because here in Venezuela we technically don't know Robotech, we got the actual Macross with the same dub as Robotech but with the actual names (Hikaru has his name unchanged) and the opening (Robotech has the sci fi jingle that everyone knows, the original one has its personalized opening that was not translated here) it was confusing when people were bitching about the one that is on Netflix, go full Fansub if you want to check Macross because Harmony Gold just refuse to let their cashcow die any time soon

Also Netflix released the trailer for the new Ghost in the shell, people are again bitching because she doesnt look like the major even when is stated hundred of times that she can change her body completely because she has never had a original human body to begin with, she has been using a cyber body since she was still inside her mother

"The Robotech Franchise is Joining Funimation!"

Bro, dude, bro stop encouraging Harmony Gold and continuing to stop any chance of an official Western release of Macross for the sake of an ungainly patchwork job of a show mostly nostalgic boomers like these days, you're scaring the hoes.

"DON'T PIRATE, SUPPORT YOUR AMERICAN ANIME DISTRIBUTORS LIKE FUNIMATION!"

"How do they spend your money?"

"They make a series with a bunch of American animators from the Bay Area based on a webcomic and pay Harmony Gold even more money to sit on the Macross rights and do nothing wi-wait, where you going? Come back here!"
That doesn't even count the shit Harmony gold put Fasa through just to fuck with them.
I understand people's feelings about some of the series vary (I enjoy Delta, sue me) but I and many others would like the real product over Harmony gold's 3-way rapebaby

Dorohedoro will be receiving an anime adaptation and is scheduled to come out on January 12th, 2020. MAPPA, known for Yuri On Ice and Zombie Land Saga, will be in charge of producing the anime. I never heard of the manga even being a thing, but i'm super glad I decided to check it out: Dorohedoro's fantastic and the art style is fucking wicked.

Whoa whoa whoa, wait what?

This season is following Stand Alone Complex lore, right? Wasn't it stated for that series that she was a young girl who was so disfigured in like an airplane crash or something similar that she could've died had they not used cybernetic technology to save her life?

Also lol at people whining she doesn't look like how the Major usually looks. Yes, she fucking does, right down to the purple hair. Do they not remember the CGI OP of the first season? Looks just like that, except I think the OP has a better look to it tbh, and it's coming up to 20 years old.

Yeah but is never stated how young she was when it happened but people rolled with the idea that it was from the womb because she stated that she never knew how it is to have human body and become very weirded after suffering Ghost pains in her arm

I'm hyped for that as well, the manga is great. But the only thing I'm worried about is the ugly ass CGI they're using for Kaimen, and other scenes as well.

She doesn't look like the Major usually looks, because I like how the Major usually looks, but this design I hate. It's not the details (I haven't watched/read the source material), it's the goddamn creepy face.

Well, the character designer for new Ghost in the Shell is Ilya Kuvshinov, check out the guy works in the link. His characters are usually cute feminine female characters. So I'd say new Major design is lacking that bit of "mature" tone/vibe from that 1995 movie and Stand Alone Complex people used to. Although, so far I've seen from the comments, people dislike the 3D direction and overall art style. For me, she looks okay, just feel like a generic or preset female character in an anime video game.

Other than that, I agree with your spoiler part.

I like Ilya's style tbh, and good on him for earning a position as a character designer.

I don't know, you can only do so many variations on "fit adult female with dark/purple hair", his design looks fairly conservative and like a fusion between SAC and Arise. Overall I'd say it's middle of the pack, teetering upward, but I think I'd need to see it more to really know.

It almost looks like they merged Deunan from Appleseed's face into the Major's since they're both created by Shirow (it's definitely the eyes, though), but I also have a feeling they used mo-cap. That doesn't help, either. It's weird because Sola Digital Arts has some great potential in the CGI department (Appleseed Alpha and the Starship Troopers movies are visually stunning), but looks like they dropped the ball on the character designs.

But I'd like to see Batou, Aramaki and the rest of Section 9's designs first before deciding to write it off as a miss or not.

Sorry but fuck 3DCG. It always looks like shit to me. I only accept it in small doses and it makes me sad we're getting a GitS 3D. They did do mocap.

The whole thing looks like hot garbage. And the Major looking different is fine. But the animation style is trash.

Aren't most 3D CG Animes also in some low FPS? The ones on Netflix like Ajin seem to run on really low FPS.

At least on Netflix. I have no idea why they are sticking to this trash style. To appeal to Western audiences? I have no fucking idea who would rather have shitty mocap CG than just traditional animation.

And they are at least on Netflix. I could not even get through Ajin.

Ajin's manga is far superior. Especially if you are into Existential Philosophy since human life is a common theme in the series. Netflix censored out a shit ton of stuff anyway, so you aren't missing out anything really. It's more popular in Japan and didn't really catch on anywhere else.

From the reviews of CG I've seen they say the same thing though about appealing to western audiences. Though the western audience also dislikes it. I agree it looks bad, I can specify it down to usally looking like Kiddos first 3D project and choppy motion. I'd rather have 2D animation if they can't even get the 3D characters like their 2D counterparts.

if they made it look more of an in-between like into the spiderverse was I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it.

I was watching that first Starship Troopers CG film just recently again and I was amazed at how still pretty great it looks despite being from 2012.

And I feel how it does it is how you do CGI animation like this right, in that the characters were halfway between realistic and anime, they were obviously very stylized and didn't look "real" but they were still meant to look semi realistic and not like 2D animation.

When it comes to the action/adventure genre CG as just a replacement for 2D animation looks very poor, it should try to look semi-realistic even if it's still stylized, again, like the Starship Troopers movies.

By the way for some reason I find the CGI boobs and butts in that Starship troopers movie very funny, just something funny about the concept of CGI nudity to me.

Yeah, I just stopped and planned on reading the Manga because it was painful to watch.

I think Netflix is very confused as to how to go about Anime. Its like stereotypical Western Company. Commit or don't bother. They're trying to rope 'new' audiences in, but normies in anime are limited to a very small handful (Attack on Titan being the biggest modern wise, and that's ending soon). Western audiences watch anime because there's nothing like it anywhere. We've got a billion shitty budget tier CG movies and series. We don't need more.

The problem is doing good CG is always going to be much more expensive than doing good animation. Take that massive waste of money you did on mo-cap and spend it on great artists and animators. Mokoto has been represented tons of ways. I even liked Arise.

They should have, but this project looks extremely low budget and I guarantee Netflix overpaid. Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorites of all time and the fact that they animated Castlevania but did garbage 3D for this pisses me off.
