Fuck yeah, I can do a quick refresher on the early episodes I have watched, then. I slow to a crawl when it comes to long-runners if I don't have physical copies on hand, since I don't always wanna be on my computer. The couple of times I had it playing on the TV, Saint Seiya looked great in spite of low-quality files I downloaded, so having it on Netflix is actually a godsend. And perfect timing, too, I had just name-dropped it as a recommendation to someone as an old-school shounen to check out.

I hate how you do things, Toei, but sometimes you make up for your short-comings.

Did anybody actually watch that netflix remake? Honestly, I'm surprised to see that it wasn't quietly canceled before release.

I'm surprised too, I think the biggest issue had to have been less Shun's gender swap (as dumb a move that was) and more the fact Son clearly knew next to nothing about the franchise and hiring him after he fucked up the Avengers was not the smoothest move Toei could make.

I did, and made a review in this thread, the thing is only Saint Seiya in name, Eugene forgot that we are not in the 90's and we don't have to butcher anime to cater to american tastes (like Card Captor Sakura)

The game based on the movie, however, was so terrible that Miyazaki never allowed videogame adaptions of his works ever again

and are truly a collector item, i have only see some covers and screens, im not very good in emulating weird ass japanese PC games, wonder how much he had to be sidelined to allow Ni no kuni to happen, was when he retired from the industry for the 10000000th time?

After receiving my yearly reminder to check and see if Berserk was out of hiatus, I checked and found to my surprise that some shit had actually happened since the last time I read when Casca regained her sanity and made me cry like a bitch last year. Most of it is just Griffith and co doing their boring ass schtick but apparently I missed this chapter back in September.

I dont even fucking care she is dressed up like a Peter Pan boy-whore. The official best anime waifu has returned after over twenty fucking years.

Honestly while the story is still meandering as hell, I cant help but hold out hope I will live to see it end in a blaze of glory that makes it all worthwhile. I know im a dumb nigger for still having hope a franchise I love wont shit itself to death, but goddamn it I have been wanting to see this shit resolved since the freaking 90s before I even had internet and when I was watching Berserk VHS tapes on the sly

Watched it with some friends and alcohol. I'm not too invested in SS since it was just shit I watched as a kid, so I'm mostly free of bias when I say it was fucking terrible and not worth anyone's time. It compares as well to the original series as watching bumfights to Rocky 1.

Red Bard did a video on Ghost Stories, and she actually reached out to Steven Foster to ask questions about it. The one answer that sticks out is that it was Steven who mainly wrote the script, many of the jokes were all him. The entire dub was not fully ad-libbed as initially believed (and was talked about by Monica Rial, who I think gave the majority of the improv), only some lines were ad-libbed.

Didn't realize Steven was a homosexual. But then that means the director and both male leads are fags. Stunning. Brave.

Saw the intro to Beastars was released on YT and it's a neat little stop-motion piece!

I didn’t even know the Japs knew how to do stop motion. I also read the manga up to current over the weekend. It’s actually really good. It also amuses me that the author is the Baki author’s daughter.

"The Robotech Franchise is Joining Funimation!"

Bro, dude, bro stop encouraging Harmony Gold and continuing to stop any chance of an official Western release of Macross for the sake of an ungainly patchwork job of a show mostly nostalgic boomers like these days, you're scaring the hoes.

"DON'T PIRATE, SUPPORT YOUR AMERICAN ANIME DISTRIBUTORS LIKE FUNIMATION!"

"How do they spend your money?"

"They make a series with a bunch of American animators from the Bay Area based on a webcomic and pay Harmony Gold even more money to sit on the Macross rights and do nothing wi-wait, where you going? Come back here!"

So GenXers are boomers now?

But in all seriousness... no, I don't really care about this. Honestly, so long as it keeps the damn thing available what do I care? The first Macross show is undoubtedly the best anyway.

Ideally, the best solution for the Robotech/Macross debacle is for Viz or Sentai to buy the Macross license and the rights to Robotech from Harmony Gold and give a proper release of Macross while Robotech gets a reboot that's American-made but anime-influenced. That way, Macross can finally get a proper American release while Robotech can come back for the Gen X nostalgia spergs and maybe get a new Zoomer fanbase as well.

Although if we're going to give Robotech a similar treatment as Voltron: Legendary Defender, let's try not to pander to the Tumblr crowd like Voltron did.
