Out of all the old Saban dubs I think they only had interest in Samurai Pizza Cats because that had a big cult fanbase.
Yeah I recall how often people never shut up about SPC for years. It was like a rite of passage one must take to say they're an anime fan because they happen to see this show on TV once.

They put out Goshogun but not Macron 1, though I think getting the rights to the other series they used and the pop songs they used would have been a barrier. Maybe that one should stay back in the 80s.
Macron 1 alone would be a mess to deal with since it was two shows crammed together as well. I'm glad they got Goshogun by itself (both the show and movie, though I prefer the movie only).

The old Saban dubs largely exist on VHS - and a lot of them on the Just for Kids label, whose tapes were never very-good quality... But that's no barrier if you want to really watch them.
Nope, you just have to keep a VCR working.

All of the major characters are psychopaths but Heero and the acrobat are so cartoonish that they make normal psychopaths like the guy that unironically calls himself the god of death look normal and well adjusted.

I still like the designs of Gundam Wing's mobile suits the best of all non-G Gundam. The movie versions are a bit much though.

So does Heero ever shoot up a school at some point in the series?

Rewatching old school Inuyasha dub right now and honestly it's nowhere near as bad as I remember,

The InuYasha dub is pretty decent tbh, think it's helped that by then, Ocean's VAs and crew had enough experience under their belt to pull out a fine performance compared to Ranma 1/2 and Escaflowne's rough dubs.

The show itself I think just couldn't live up to potential since it dragged and dragged and made up stupid in-story excuses to nerf OP characters like Miroku. Like I get why it's popular and has a loyal fanbase, but this was a plot that had no business being stretched for so long like it was.

I watched the season 4 premiere of My Hero Academia yesterday. T'was interesting.

Fairly filler episode recapping seasons 2 and 3. A reporter finds out Deku is All Might's successor by deduction, and questions him about it in the episode, which was kind of interesting. OP and ED were kind of forgettable, the ED less so.
It was a decent episode.

The Plot Hook of "A investigative reporter deduces the true meaning of "You're Next" made sense, seeing as Bakugo did. I loved the guys quark, and given that All-Might was somewhat in the background in the second half of the 3rd season it was sensible to spend an episode reminding the audience of how important All-Might was to The Public before going into Sir Nighteyes and Midoriya meeting to make Nighteyes seem like less of a complete dick for no reason.

Ginga. You know. The anime and manga with the dogs. The manga is better. Ginga Densetsu Weed as an anime was okay, but the animation was pretty much shit half the time.

Ranma 1/2 is a classic IMO as well for Slayers.

That's what you get with Studio DEEN. Though it's not like the original anime had stellar animation either considering Toei's own palette was was pretty full in '85.

That one just didn't have a chance to shine. Just so we're clear here, the first series was Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin (often translated for export markets as "Silver Fang") and the follow-up was Ginga Legend Weed. I first learned of these series through finding the first three volumes of the Weed manga that was published by a small-time manga publisher in the early 2000's called Comics One (if anyone remembers them), I think at the time people often referred to these shows as "Fist of the North Star with dogs" and they're right, it feels so much of that, though sadly I couldn't finish Weed as there was only 3 volumes released and nothing after that (I assume the publisher folded or dropped the series).

There's this manhwa about a teenager and an older woman engaged, in the latest chapter there is a timeskip so the teen is now 18, and also they're watching a movie together:

Did the author just draw over a scene from Freddy vs Jason?

I've actually seen that a few times in different manhwa. Mostly with landscapes though. They'll take a real photo, and edit it somehow.

Wasn't there a mangaka some years back whose manga was canceled indefinitely because she got in trouble for using/tracing over copyrighted photography?

Not sure. I know there have been some copyright disputes in the past, but I don't know about that particular one. A lot of the copy right disputes stem from Asian companies having far less strict copyright laws than we do. Gate Thus the JSDF fought there's anime is on hold likely because there are alien xenomorphs in later chapters in addition to stuff taking place in real life venues like Mcdonalds. Of course you also have to consider that they rip each other off like motherfuckers anyway, which can be illegal in some cases even over there, so it really wouldn't surprise me if some manga artist didn't get their manga axed for something like that. Shit is crazy competitive over there. Recall that, that whole anime studio mass killing in Kyoto was over a guy who thought they stole his content.

Side note on gate: I think it will get a season 3 anyway, and it will likely have alien xenomorphs in it. Corporate vs national lawsuits are almost never successful, and the anime is being produced by the Japanese military.

In light of things happening right now, like Hong Kong, Trade Wars, South China Sea territorial disputes, wouldn't that be too soon since latter chapters include China and some antagonistic sentiments and stereotypes of Chinese ? Or would they water it down ala Red Dawn 2012?

I'm assuming you're talking about the spies that come into play later. I'm not really sure tbh. They haven't really cared if things were offensive in the past, so I don't know why they'd change now. Remember, Rory killed soldiers from the US, China, and Russia during the bath house fight, and they even joked about knowing some of the soldiers were from the US because they had nigs. Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that they changed the target audience from young adults, to teens going from the manga to the anime, I would think that they'd of still kept in the rape scenes. Really, if China keeps pissing the internet off, it might make them double down on things to keep up with the internet zeitgeist, and thus appeal more to their target audience.

There's also some environmentalists and anti-whalers hat play a part later in the light novel, would they skip that or make vague references to that one person we kept talking about that keeps talking about the climate? I get a feeling they might water down some parts considering their own problems with their neighbors. And I think they might replace the 'xenomorphs' with another alien type being. Fox/Disney you know.

Not sure. I know the last about 10 chapters or so of the manga have just absolutely railed against the media, and the anime so far has been kinda critical of it, so who knows. Hasn't gotten to the part where the empire is trying false flags yet, which is where the big anti media stuff comes in. As it stands, the Japanese LDP party has a super majority so I can't imagine that they would care too much about running that kind of content, even if it pissed some people off.

So I watched Nausicca yesterday. It was my first Ghibli film and overall a good first impression. If the later Ghibli films continue this streak then I can see why they are so widely renowned. Toonami Aftermath is airing the fist of the North star movie so I'm watching that now.

Fun fact it's not actually a Ghibli film, it was technically made before the studio existed, also executives refused to fund making it unless it had a manga version to base it off of(As most anime movies were in the early/mid 80's). As Such Miyazaki made a manga that ran until well after the movie came out in 1984. In fact the movie only covers about 1/4th of the manga's plot. And yes, the manga IS officially translated. The game based on the movie, however, was so terrible that Miyazaki never allowed videogame adaptions of his works ever again. And the less we speak of the original "dub", known as Warriors of the Wind, the better.

I remember the No Game No Life guy got in a lot of trouble for something like that but don't remember exactly what.

Is a sad day to be Eugene Son, for those who have been reading this thread he was the guy that ruined to oblivion Saint Seiya making himself be declared a heretic for tarnishing the cult of Mexico but in a unexpected move of Toei, they put all the classic series with the original latin american dub and japanese dub on Netflix, this is pretty much a declaration that there is not going to be S02 of that abomination of Saint Seiya that he made

The Latin American Netflix twitter account is now full of Saint Seiya shitposting and people celebrating

The only things that have not been added for now are the movies that no one care because they are not canon, but all the classic sagas (Galaxian War, Sanctuary, Asgard, Poseidon, Hades and Elysium) are now in Netflix
