The original NGE dub was not the best but it was a lot livelier and had more spark than this current mess.
ADV for awhile had some dub work that was, at the very least "not bad".
Anyways, some naive fools thought that issues like dubs vs. subs and this version of a dub vs. that version of a dub, etc. would be eliminated by such achievements like DVD tracks - since part of what is supposed to have fueled so many dubs vs. subs wars during the 1990s and so on was that subtitled anime on VHS tended to have retail prices that were higher than those for dub VHS releases and some people who prefered subtitles were miffed at having to pay more. That is supposedly just one reason. Since most DVD releases had tracks for both the sub and dub versions, anyone could pick which one they preferred and that would help cut down on the nonsense, was the thinking. I personally thought that was naive - just like life, dub vs. sub finds a way.
