Dandadan does not read like normal manga. It reads like someone got really fucking high, watched ancient ailens for 72 hours straight, and started writing a story based off his coked out hallucinations. The "fanservice" is tame and when it does happen it either serves the plot or is goofy. Or its just Jiji being buff. In any case, a slop isekai would be better fanservice than Dandadan in terms of raw booba on screen.
100% agreed. Its just annoying when normies start to berate an anime because of things it portrays. Dandadan is probably one of the more wholesome anime out there even when a few guys or girls sometimes in states of undress. I mean it literally ends every arc with a family dinner.

Bro even the romance in Dandadan is more wholesome than most anime id argue. Its literally zoomer girl meets zoomer guy the romance, and its really dorky, doesn't pull the usual anime tropes, and it took like 160 chapters to get a proper I love you in a scene that really fucking meant something, and now they're kinda sorta going out, working their way through it naturally. You don't get this shit from your normal anime. Nothing about Dandadan is normal. Half of it feels western, half of it feels drug induced, and the rest is wholesome.

I actually really, really appreciate that Okarun confessed before the end of the Manga. Nothing is more unsatisfying than a "will they/won't they" that gets dragged on for 500 chapters. I think more than a few people (myself included) are a little irritated bout how MHA handled Deku and Uraracha's relationship in that it literally never goes anywhere and neither of them talk about it and then it never gets brought up again.

I feel the time it took to get there was perfect given how big Dandadan is shaping up to be. Not too fast, it gave time to establish their relationship and WHY they would like eachother. Now we get to see how it shapes up. Truly masterclass writing. And yeah we didn't get blue balled until the end. We actually get to see what the two of them being together means instead of "and they lived happily ever after the end".

Did we even get that? I don't actually remember. I thought it ended with Deku as a UA Teacher and Ura off doing her own thing.

I didn't keep up with MHA though if I remember at the time, I think people were mad because nothing fucking happened with them

I was current with it lol, yeah nothing happened with them. Nothing happened with anyone actually. The last chapter has an 8 year time skip in it, and then 8 years later everyone's gone off and become adults and are doing their own things until they magically give Deku a new way to be a hero and then it ends with a splash screen of all of them as adults.

On one hand, it works in that after high school most friend groups don't stick together. I remember there were like 20 people I considered friends that I'd hang out with in High School and like three weeks after graduation there were 4 of us left. These days there is 1.

But on the other hand, it isn't satisfying as a reader to have numerous relationships friendly or romantic go literally no where and not matter in the grand scheme of things.

AIC's Megazone reboot is seemingly still alive because they posted a bunch of new designs for it on their website today. Also, Decade's toku with the Garland is available to watch on YT again if you didn't get to see it yet.

I went to look at the translations out of curiosity fom seeing commentary elsewhere, and while someone may say that this episode was censored because Momo never took off the shirt on-screen or whatever, one point I saw was someone going 'you know, the Flatwoods Monster saying banana makes more sense than organs', so I went and checked.

Now, the thing is that in Japan, the word used in both situations is seiki [性器], which means genitalia. The original version didn't use any furigana, just using emphasis stuff, so you're supposed to pronounce it as 'seiki', therefore Viz or whoever translated it as 'organs' because the second half of the kanji is technically correct [genitalia is sexual organs]. The animation uses furigana to make you pronounce it as 'banana', which is why the dub has that.
Motherfuck MF Ghost got a second season somehow. It's airing for the autumn 2024 season.
I mean, they ended the first season RIGHT before Kanata's qualifiers, so if anyone would know, it's the staff.

So uh, is Buso Renkin a parody or not?

I'm going to treat it as such until proven otherwise.

ABSOLUTE CRINGEEEEEE

Why are code geass fans so close minded and judgmental? R1 was okay but then they get all pissed off at anything that isn't explicitly worshipping Lelouch and Suzaku and dont care about anything else. Is this some IRL geass phenomenon or just the typical retardation from most fandoms?

He's also not the mastermind tactician that the story makes him out to be. Though I guess he is by anime standards where facetanking everything like DSP seems to be the go-to play.

and the only thing I remember is a comment someone left on the page that hosted the scanlations saying that the villain looked like a fag
He's a pretty memorable fag(?), I'll give 'im that. Honestly am digging his design.

It's not really a parody in terms of being completely irreverent, since things like Kazuki's heart problem aren't really treated as a joke last I checked, but Watsuki decided to go for humor over full seriousness after what he did with Rurouni Kenshin. And that's considering he ripped off Marvel to make enemies out of Gambit, Omega Red and Venom, to say the least.

That said, if you want to call this a parody, you have to bring up the scene parodying the 'I'm behind you/no I'm behind you' scene.

It's the birthday of the best male seiyuu!

He is great at being husbando and also moe. I appreciate that Kabakura (moe gap) is one of the few (rare) characters can have bickering moments with their lover but obviously love about them a lot. Like Rumiko Takahashi's characters, otherwise mostly side characters such as protagonist's parents.

Not in that voice acting list, I adore his performance for Mayama in Honey and Clover. Then again, I like Mayama the most in that anime, other characters are great too.

IIRC that scene involves Momo, Aira, and Okrun, and they're all only half-naked. Doesn't really matter.

People are so weird about Dandadan's "fanservice" if you can even call it that. Its not like after Momo's abduction the fanservice is played particularly tantalizing. Also as the character's get better at using their powers, I appreciate details like Acro-Silkie holding her skirt down while she fucks people up because she's learned from experience if she doesn't she'll be flashing everyone.

Also also, lets be honest, Jiji is the most Fanservice'd character. The dude literally can't keep his clothes on and he's built as fuck.
Well, to be fair, I do think at the start he was being a bit more "fanservicy" while he was still trying to get his bearings. Aira was pantyshot fiesta during the Serpo fight. I wouldn't file them as tantalizing either (hell, I was finding it funnier how many times Aira would get sniped mid air and denied), but they were there and after the nessie arc you just don't get them anymore. There the question is actually if his editor was all like "if you want to succeed, you need some fanservice" and the author went with it and dialed it down to what he actually liked or who knows, I mean, it's not like it became puritanical either Rin's magical girl setup is pure cake (and hilarious). Also, I read all of fairy tail and Greatest Disciple Kenichi which started with fanservice, and specially the second one became hentai light, so I'm not saying this as a "oh no, the smut!". Also, the fanservice in Dandadan is tame as fuck when it's even there, which is why I find it funny that there is so much pearl clutching about it.

This is one of the greatest highlights for me in Dandadan. I know that the standards for battle shounen romance are a few KM under the ground, but even if we ignore that, it's honest to god good. It's organic, they have chemistry. I really like Aira and like her dynamic with Okarun... but Ken and Momo is just so right and the author has managed to properly set it up.
And yeah, it's definitely refreshing to see the confession be in what I'll dare call the "end of the prologue", I hope it fully develops in like 30-50 chapters to properly dating while still investigating all of the weird shit that constantly happens.

And good shout about MHA, but that series already had huge problems romance wise like Deku and Uraraka never interacting and the few times they do they barely have any chemistry at all. Deku has more chemistry with his fucking bully for fucks sake. But well, lets not kid ourselves, most mangaka have never had a girlfriend when they start and odds are a good chunk of them get outright anxiety when interacting with women, so I'm not surprised they are so horrible at romance. You have the smart ones like Oda that goes "nope, no romance" and then the ones that expect to tackle it and it's just a disaster.

On other topics Oshi no Ko ends in 4 chapters. Shame on me for reading 2 series from this hack that have crap final arcs, never touching anything from him again.
