How about Ergo Proxy? Both have similar tones and post apocalyptic environments.
I have yet to watch Ergo Proxy beyond the first few episodes but from what I saw it seemed way more abstract. It just didn't hook me at the time.

Help me kiwifrens. For job-related reasons I was stuck next to a weeb store, listening to them play the same song on repeat for about an hour or two. It was J-rock featuring a male singer, song sounded vaguely like Dorohedoro's opening and the only thing I could discern from the chorus was CHANGE! THE! WOOOORLD!!
is it this?

Started reading this niche hidden gem.
Volume 1 cover.jpg

Plot is about a young mother who joins the local milita as a sniper to fight in a civil war after her husband gets killed and her daughter kidnapped by the opposed communist revolutionaries "Liberation Army citizens".
Has some good small scale firefights and sniper kino.
To bad it can take a lot of time until a new chapter releases.

I hate [CURRENT YEAR] anime fans. They can't help but insert gender ideology bullshit into everything and then complain when an anime doesn't cater to them in that way.

I find the exact opposite, people love Brotherhood a lot and think the 2003 anime is 6/10. Personally I find Father to be a much more interesting villain then Hohenheim's goth lolita ex even if I admit that the Anime only origin of the homunculus' adds a lot of weight to them the manga/brotherhood version lacks.
Do it objectively the right way. Watch until the lab in the original then skip the first episode of Brotherhood.
Got to chapter 122 on Blood on the Tracks.

Fuck me, Sei just can't catch a break. His dad died, his middle school lover has moved on and got her own family, and now it looks like his mom is gonna have to live with him. Granted, if he didn't kill his cousin during his mental breakdown, he would probably be in a far better position in life.
This manga is great. I think a binge read at the end might be a better move than serialized though. Is there anything else like this recently?

Do we have any Texholynze fans here?
Texholynze got more popular in around Trump's Presidency. I used to be on anime sites like Myanimelist and I noticed during then it became to the point where everyone I saw had it. Despite the fact that it was nowhere near the top anime.

Best character has the 2nd amount of favorites.

Similar to Legend of the Galactic Heroes which had a massive popularity around 2010 to the point that everyone who was a Mod there had it in their favorites.

Upside is that it doesn't seem to be the Martin fiasco where he told them exactly how it ends but none of the flavor so those events just happen like an autistic kid telling a story that's all plot but no characterization.
So be it, if we'll never know the TRUE end, if there is even evidence that there was a top secret end in muria's head only, who knows maybe he was improvising the story as he went which is not uncommon, who is to say that his team won't improvise the same thing by accident or by care.
If it's only 'okay' (which iIfully expected from the living muria anyway) I'll still be happy because at least it was seen throught to the end, plus I have no qualms with those assistant getting paid, imagine being late every month cuz you boss is too bust playing idol maker.
And of couse if it's shit, i'll just consider it my first doujinshi, and then wait for fans to do a better one.

Rumor was they were pulling the weight already, not that rumors are important

i never thought i say this about ouran highschool host club but, based?

I wonder if they'll revive that show the same way they did Fruits Basket, since there were a lot of things they left out in the manga. Though yeah, I fear current year will try something or bitch many times if they try to bring it back.

Honestly I hope they don’t, IMO it’s one of the few instances where a non-faithful anime adaptation is actually better than the manga because yes while it’s far from complete (…I think it adapted less than half the volumes) it also changes some details (mostly for the better, IMO) and adds some of its own storylines as well. The anime-only ending isn’t awful either, not the best thing in the world but pretty decent. The biggest thing for me is cutting out the love triangle with the twins and replacing that rather cliche conflict with a much more interesting dynamic between the three of them.

Just gonna copy my recent post from another thread here:
Since we’re clearly defining “woke” as “containing qualities that would be considered ‘woke’” rather than “written with the intent of virtue signaling leftist politics”, I’m putting my vote down for Ouran High School Host Club. Retards would definitely consider Haruhi to be non-binary (she isn’t, she just doesn’t mind pretending to be a prettyboy to pay off her debt to the host club) and her dad is a cross-dressing bisexual who works at a gay bar (hilariously referred to as a “tranny” in Funimation’s English dub). These would all be major red flags in a current-year Western project, but it’s actually just a pretty comfy slice of life reverse-harem-ish rom-com about a middle-class girl in a uber-rich private school that occasionally pokes fun at Japanese gender roles. Also one of the rare cases where the anime is arguably better than the manga.

Check out Boy's Abyss. It's currently at 96 chapters, but I'm waiting for the entire story to finish up in order to binge read it. Also check out Ciguatera, it's a bit different but deals with abuse/bullying and teen angst. It's a great story from the creator of the gross out gag manga The Ping Pong Club. They're both on mangadex.
whatever you do, do not tell trannis to watch gintama. their heads would explode!
The okama characters are hilarious. Troons get upset about them since they reinforce the fact that they look like men, no matter what they wear or how much makeup they apply. It doesn't reflect the uwu cute anime trap delusion.
