Have the G-Reco movies been good so far? It seems like they're going to end up being a similar length in total to the TV series so I don't really get the point of them tbh.

I've never understood why the show got targeted for such harsh criticism, yeah it moves fast but that's better than being bloated with filler. The writing style is obviously very different to the typical modern popular fare but that's only a good thing imo - I remember trying to watch the first season of Attack On Titan and being shocked at how much padding, repetition, recap foootage etc. it was filled with, but apparently that's the way the current anime audience like it. Really though, if someone claims to enjoy a show like Zeta Gundam they have no right to sneer at G-Reco, as both have the same primary issue of garbled plot exposition. Somehow though Zeta enjoys a glowing reputation while G-Reco is a punchline, makes you wonder whether people are actually watching and appreciating these shows or just mindlessly parroting memethink to fit in.
pretty good, it kinda explains the story more and have new additions and characterization like internal monologues.
The thing about G-Reco is that it doesn't do the usual anime exposition. Unlike gundam which sometimes stops and they explain things, G-Reco just use characters talking about it, and sometimes it is brought again later. It is almost like watching a documentary without narration. Quite unique anime.
The animation touch up is so great in a series which was already good, the new eyes in g-reco looks great

That narrative style is also found in shows like Zeta which is why I made the comparison. If people are familiar with Tomino's work there's really no reason they should object to G-Reco's writng. And yes I agree, the show is already an extremely impressive production, the amount of incidental background animation is superb - there is something going on in pretty much every scene which adds so much life to the series, plus the art itself is consistently beautiful. So many modern shows rely on digital effects to create a sense of visual dynamism in lieu of hand-drawn motion, so it was great to see such a lavish "last hurrah" from veterans doing things the old-fashioned way. Looking forward to the movies being even more impressive when they're done.

Got to chapter 122 on Blood on the Tracks.

Fuck me, Sei just can't catch a break. His dad died, his middle school lover has moved on and got her own family, and now it looks like his mom is gonna have to live with him. Granted, if he didn't kill his cousin during his mental breakdown, he would probably be in a far better position in life.

I don't like FMA Brotherhood, it's too safe and lacks immersion for that reason. I never felt that it'd end with anything but a happy ending, even though not only I wasn't spoiled but was primed by 03 to expect a downer ending. 03 is dumber but also stronger when it's good. Another problem is Arakawa's art style - it's beautiful and one of the few I can tolerate at all, but she's got a very clear divide between good / evil / npc.

The best shonen manga is Galaxy Express 999, I'll fight everyone on this. The anime improves on some plots (but fucks up others when they either stretch a short chapter into a full episode, or stretch a normal chapter into two episodes which it can't carry, or cut a fight scene for budget reasons, or censor). The ending is also good, even though they do Maetel dirty a bit.

I don't like Vinland Saga. I have it pirated to my phone and it just takes up space because I'd feel guilty about deleting anything Viking-related. The lunk was murderously boring (goatee guy did the world a favor by offing him) and edgy boi has inherited that and nothing else.

The Sei of Chi no Wadachi ("Blood on the Tracks" is a mistranslation) is a massive dipshit and pussy who deserves everything and more. Your submissive, weak-willed pussy of a mom saved you from getting murdered for the lulz and from becoming a cuck father to one of your school bullies' baby at 14, be thankful, cunt. I much prefer Mori Koji's Sei even though the author is a lolcow faggot who's never drawn a visually interesting page once in his life.

The anime cheese of Spy X Family is killing me and turning me off of the series. The brother and the newest episode are fuckin trash.

Seeing people talk about Full Metal, a buddy of mine asked which version he should watch. Told him for more action and closer plot to the manga, watch new. For more dramatic and slower paced story, watch the 2003 version.
It's telling that any time someone posts about FMA, it's usually the 2003 version they talk about.
2003 was when a good portion of people discovered weebdom and brought a new wave of cancer that not even Inuyasha could do.
Aren't they also making a Zombieland Saga movie?
Neat. That's a good show with catchy songs

Machikado Mazoku keeps being great. Hopefully we get another season and that the author gets better health

Suicide Island wasn't bad, but Holyland is the best Mori Koji manga I've read. PG13 Shamo with a light delinquent manga bent was a great idea.

You are correct! I forgot to post the movies they will also be releasing.

All 3 movies are to be announced release dates.

"Yuri!!!! On Ice the Movie: Ice Adolescence"

"Alice and Therese's Illusion Factroy" (No idea what this is or what it is about. It is an original work)

And "Zombie Land Saga the Movie".
I wonder if Demon Slayer opened the floodgates for anime films considering it takes a massive amount of money.

Would not surprise me at all. The amount of money that movie made is insane.

The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie MAPPA animated also did well from what I saw. Not as well as Mugen Train of course. But well enough.

I’m a couple of days late to reply to this, but funny looking ad aside, I’m actually looking forward to this one. The first season was objectively entertaining mainly because of the humor surrounding it (I’m willing to argue that out of all the Love Live specials, this one actually had a great mix of comedy and idol tropes that reminded me of the last LLS movie that aired almost five years ago):

If they can give more cool songs to the soundtrack while showing off more facial expressions like this:

Then I’m sure the second season will be worth it. The recent special that they had for the recent Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club looked pretty decent.

I haven't watched it since it aired, but my biggest complaint was that there was absolutely no room for the plot to breathe and in general just goes nowhere. It felt like a 50 episode show rammed into 25 episodes, complete with the most half-assed ending I can think of since the show just goes nowhere.

But I'll probably watch it again at some point given I hadn't seen as many of Tomino's non-Gundam shows back then. Maybe I was disappointed because I thought it would be more like Turn A Gundam with the artstyle and beautiful animation and nothing compares to that.

Hibike Euphonium just got a season 3 announcement and I almost cried of happiness.

Help me kiwifrens. For job-related reasons I was stuck next to a weeb store, listening to them play the same song on repeat for about an hour or two. It was J-rock featuring a male singer, song sounded vaguely like Dorohedoro's opening and the only thing I could discern from the chorus was CHANGE! THE! WOOOORLD!!

I think it might be an inuyasha song if you can make out "change the world" part unless these weebs are the rare kind that look for j-rock songs/bands that aren't used for anime songs.

Do we have any Texholynze fans here? I don’t know about it’s mainstream popularity but it’s legitimately one f the most depressing and unique anime’s I’ve ever watched. It’s a futuristic cyberpunk style anime in yet another apocalyptic world setting, but what makes it unique is that it’s not particularly flashy or action focused at all, it’s actually incredibly slow paced and atmospheric, focused on its world to tell its story rather than characters.

I must warn newcomers that the pacing is incredibly slow for the early parts, many people will probably not want to continue past the first due to the deliberately incredibly slow pace and lack of dialogue, but if you stick around the payoff is incredible and leads into being one of the best written, beautifully animated and incredibly Sad anime’s I’ve seen. Also, the whole series is free on YT so no issue tracking or buying it.

It is also has one of the best ending songs and soundtracks I’ve heard, it’s worth watching for that alone.

Time to play some Tchaikovsky and Chopin as means to celebrate.
Also, don‘t spoil me as to what happens in the second half of the first season and second season. I still have yet to finish it, thank you!

No joke, Texhnolyze was one of the first anime(s) where I vividly remember that I had to take a break from watching it since most of the episodes took me back down to earth, but in a very dark headspace. The ending song was actually one of my choices for being dark, but also musically speaking, one of the most beautiful pieces of OP’s I’ve ever heard.

I always believe that this anime was like a bigger brother to Serial Experiments Lain, while also that being a little sister to Ergo Proxy. If anything, I’m debating now whether or not to stop making excuses and finish up watching this anime. It was a very surreal and mind bending experience.

Certainly one of the more memorable anime series I've watched. Never seen another show with quite the tone it had.

As a (…ex) euphonium player I’ve always felt like I should watch this series out of solidarity, considering it’s such a niche instrument to pick as a headliner since to normies it always sits under the shadow of its bigger brother the tuba. Maybe now’s the time to get around to it.
