Percy Jackson? Didn't that movie come out over a decade ago?
Anyway, from what I've heard, the whole series got pozzed to hell anyway. Get your kid reading the Bartimeaus Trilogy instead.

Truly a cultured series that doesn’t seem to ever get acknowledged. I really like its power system, where all magic is derived from enslaved spirits rather than from the magicians themselves. I doubt it’s an original idea but it’s something I don’t recall seeing in any other media I’ve consoomed.

New thing being made. They raceswapped the main girl. In the books she’s described as “blonde hair, blue eyed”. In new thing she’s black.
I think they might of fucked up the races of all 3 characters
Grover was supposed to be a ginger but played by a black guy again and I think they might of unironically white washed Percy since I swear they described him as looking like he had some faint traces of Mediterranean decent (black hair and olive skin) though its been years since I picked up any of the books.

It’s always frustrating to check back in on a manga 6 months later and find that it still hasn’t actually been updated. So many series just stop in the middle of key stuff. Peacemaker, Iris Zero, Last Inning.

also, I am always amused by the drama on scanlator/translator pages, fights over “turf” or how long to wait to reupload. Like, no one who isn’t part of the group cares, they just want their series to be competantly translated. it’s important work, and I appreciate the people willing to do it, but everyone should get along.

So i checked out SpyXFamily and i must say that they failed with the recration of Berlin. they are clearly going for an old berlin vibe but fail to understand that old berlin was build in a time when germany was ascending to the top of the world. it was build as capital of the world, like nyc in the 30s, tokyo in the 70s and shanghai in the 2000s.
they lack the sense of scale and prestige the city was build with.

the story is fun.

I finished reading the Digimon V-Tamers 01 manga. man, It isn't my first digimon manga but holy shit, it was great. It had the same vibe I had reading pokemon special: great reading for children.
Then I go to mangaupdates to add to the list and found out that there is an oneshot with crossover with Digimon Adenture 2020.

so fucking good, I really like V-Dramon, and the way both Taichis are drawn differently is great.

You can read the full story here.

Also, I really like it when V-Tamer Taichi and Zero do a little victory dance after a battle.

On the subject of forgotten YA novels, does anyone else remember the Nicholas Flamel series? It’s kinda funny how it’s basically just Fate but Western.

I do. They were pretty good.
Always thought it was weird they built Sophie up for something major, but she didn't contribute much in the end.

The manga, Bouncer, is brutal as fuck. If you're into gang-related manga, then this is for you. It's like Los Zetas the manga dealing with the Yakuza and the Han-gure. It has every kind of violence you can think of and it's still ongoing. The mangaka is also working with an IRL bosozoku delinquent of the 80s, Iguchi Tatsuya, in a manga called Out, and it's just as brutal as this manga.

I think I still have the last book somewhere and is one of 3 YA book series I would read over and over in elementary/middle (the other 2 being 39 clues and rangers apprentice)
Still surprised fate hasn't touched the Flamels since if you compare the series both Nicholas and Perenella are two are maybe four characters total that don't have fate version

tell me more
my beaner blood calls for blood
It starts off with a delinquent 19-year old freeter who gets the chance to work in a private security firm, but sooner or later, he realizes that this is not your typical private security firm as he gets caught up in a shitty situation that will change his life.
I'm not going to spoil you because this manga is a really fun read.

You know, you could almost describe ChainsawMan like that too, funnily enough.
