Been reading Hinamatsuri. Hina deserves all the salmon roe even if she's a complete brat.

Again, I don't want to go into a whole essay about what flaws that I personally think it has, but to me at least, it very often gets so caught up in communicating themes and messages that it forgets to weave them into the story in a way that makes much coherent sense, to the point that Anno will drop potentially interesting character arcs and relationships just to hammer home the point. What do you mean by these?
2.0 is also my favorite, but I Rank them like this: 2.0 > 3.0 > 3.0 + 1.0 > 1.0
I actually really like the whole new world that 3.0 gives us, but sadly not much is explored about it, but they do give pieces and bits about what happened in this world and how things work in shin.
there are lots of elements that most people don't even think about but I really want to know more about it.
What plots did the movie drops? How it was subverted? Because I am quite sure I watched the same movie as you, but I don't remember plots being dropped, the most I can see it was clarifying things with further releases like indicating that the VTOL in 3.0 was indeed the one used by Kaji in the rerelease of 3.333Granted, this is less of a problem in the original series and EoE, because there was proper build-up over the course of 26 episodes. However, for me at least, it all came crashing down (or should I say "tumbling down") in 3.0, where multiple plot threads and the like got thrown out the window purely in the sake of themes and subversion, alongside it insinuating that you were stupid and immature for wanting something like 2.0. The long wait in between the third and last films certainly didn't help matters.
Of course, the folks at EvaGeeks and the like will happily lap that crap up, but for me personally, it was extremely disappointing and also rather infuriating. And no, I don't care if me feeling that way was Anno's intention. It still doesn't make for a very compelling watch.
Really the biggest problem is that 3.0 and 3.0+1.0 are founded on the unquestioned belief that Shinji is at fault for Third Impact when he literally did nothing wrong. Those two movies feel like they’re ACTUALLY supposed to be a sequel not to 1.0 and 2.0, but to End of Evangelion. What plots did the movie drops? How it was subverted? I have my grips with the last movie since I liked 3.0 and the new direction so much that going from that to anno's relationship with his father bit kinda pisses me off since it takes me away from the good stuff.
Fuck off SpyXFamily and Kaguya-sama, the real AOTY is here!
Not to mention that while he does it a joyous song that's deeply connected with graduations is playing in the background, seemingly setting the tone that yes, Shinji is doing something good and advancing in his life. But it turns out that you can (not) advance.Really the biggest problem is that 3.0 and 3.0+1.0 are founded on the unquestioned belief that Shinji is at fault for Third Impact when he literally did nothing wrong. At the end of 2.0, Shinji tries to save his waifu while being cheered on by Misato, in a scenario that only Gendo (and maybe Ritsuko) knows the full implications and consequences of.
Oh yeaaaah, this is of the Pink Noise OVAs like Call Me Tonight, Body Jack, and Maryuu Senki. Honestly forgot about this one, but I must've thought it was alright judging from my MAL score. Should do a rewatch, then, like I did with Body Jack to make sure I remembered it right (how that one isn't considered a hentai is beyond me lol).Anyone ever see this, one of those oddball one-offs from the 80s era OAV boom: Campus Special Investigator Hikaruon. An AIC production, produced as an homage to Toei's "Metal Heroes" series of tokusatsu shows that had started off just a few years earlier with the Space Sheriff (Uchū Keiji) series (Gavan, Sharivan, Shaider) and by '87 followed up with Juspion, Spielban and Metalder. Metal Heroes were usually armor-wearing heroes (like in the later entry Blue SWAT, or down to earth cyborgs or robots who used ray guns, light sabers, motorcycles, Mazda RX-7s, and the occasional super robot or giant dragon spaceship to fight for justice.
The home video boom lead to lots of product being put out there to keep the video store shelves full, and the OAV animation boom in Japan meant that animators were not limited by the constraints of merchandise-driven broadcast television or the dictates of the theatrical film industry and thus were free to produce a wide variety of shows, including odd little entries like Hikaruon (which is also a lot more 'women being menaced sexually' than most toku shows, unless you're counting those sort of low-rent productions, if you get my meaning)

Is it unpopular opinion to say that Mob is better show than OPM? The latter loses it's novelty pretty fast, while Mob and his friends are pretty endearing throughout the two seasons, with Mob's conflict being a lot more complex.
Im unsure but Mob Psycho is definitely better in every way to OPM, hell it even does satire better especially in that one scene where Reigen basically tears apart so many different types of villains that would be in these sort of animeIs it unpopular opinion to say that Mob is better show than OPM? Mob Psycho is just OPM except it actually has a complete story and doesn’t lose focus on the titular character. Only pretentious shonenfags (so… normie anime fans) would unironocally consider OPM to be the better show.Is it unpopular opinion to say that Mob is better show than OPM? Considering OPM's "story" DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAGS on for so long, Saitama only ever does anything important after five years. The novelty of "overpowered badass would be realistically boring" ironically became literal.Mob Psycho is just OPM except it actually has a complete story and doesn’t lose focus on the titular character. No one spoil Season 2 for me. I’m still watching the first one, while reading the manga for it. Though, I do hope it’s good.
Again, you misinterpretes things, Shinji didn't do the third impact in the 2.0, he did the Near Third Impact, which regardless of what other people thinks, still fucks up the life for all those around it. Even more for those who survive it, since all you have is a now fucked up world. People still died in those moments and it is shinji's fault. They never ever shy away from this, but Kaworu believes that what they are doing next is a new thing until he realizes he was duped.Really the biggest problem is that 3.0 and 3.0+1.0 are founded on the unquestioned belief that Shinji is at fault for Third Impact when he literally did nothing wrong. At the end of 2.0, Shinji tries to save his waifu while being cheered on by Misato, in a scenario that only Gendo (and maybe Ritsuko) knows the full implications and consequences of. Then for all intents and purposes he fucking dies, and months later Gendo (who was manipulating Shinji and masterminding the whole plan to begin with) comes back and ACTUALLY destroys the world.
Now, let’s compare this to End of Evangelion, where Shinji infamously faps to Asuka’s comatose body, reaches rock bottom, and then makes the conscious decision completely of his own accord to kick off Third Impact, free from nefarious outside influence.
Compared to his unquestionable culpability in End of Evangelion, in 2.0 he is at worst an accessory to a crime whose every action was the result of Gendo’s active manipulation. This really doesn’t fit with his characterization in the latter movies, which expect us to accept his guilt without question. I think it’s kinda more interesting to gloss over the obvious inconsistencies and pretend that 3.0 happens 14 years after End of Evangelion (pretending that the beach scene never happened).

What you outlined was the story Anno wanted to tell, not the movies I actually watched. I think there’s at least some interesting ideas and concepts there, but authorial intent means jack shit if the movie does a terrible job expressing it. The only thing that matters is that the fucked-up world at the beginning of 3.0 (which is what everyone is blaming him for) literally is not his fault. Hell, the movies are actually less shit if you don’t know any of the barely-shown-in-the-movies background stuff and just assumed that the end of 2.0 actually was just Third Impact.Again, you misinterpretes things, Shinji didn't do the third impact in the 2.0, he did the Near Third Impact, which regardless of what other people thinks, still fucks up the life for all those around it. They never ever shy away from this, but Kaworu believes that what they are doing next is a new thing until he realizes he was duped.
You keep believing a thing that doesn't happen, so I will explain for you:
Near Third Impact (end of 2.0) > lots of people die, it is the end of the world
Third Impact: Happens between 2.0 and 3.0 > people "die" (become coreified), bunch of people survives thanks to Kaji's who stops it and also funds WILLE
Fourth Impact (happend at the climax of 3.0: Shinji's fault, but almost no one is left still "alive", it was stopped by Kaworu and Mari
Additional/Final Impact (3.0 + 1.0) , (caused by Gendo on 13), Shinji ends up bringing everything back and it is took over by Yui and Gendo who erases all evangelions
So what we have: Shinji's decision to save Rei causes the NTI, which is a selfish act and destroys lots of people (Inclusive his friends), then the third impact happens and turns all areas not protected into Core, then Shinji wakes up, sees what happened and wants to fix it with Kaworu, he was bambloozed and gets fucked over.
Then he reconnects with others and wants to help other people, not because of his guilt or because something that he once lost. He is being selfless here, and then his parents save him.
"ah but the Guilt"
There are two characters who are crucial to this: Sakura and Midori, Midori wants to punish him and Sakura wants to save him from going through it in a violent way, both of them lost their families in the near third and had to live in this world.
Shinji was the catalyst of all this trouble, the movies never once take this out him and says that he was a good boy, he was ready to sacrifice himself for others to help them instead of himself in the last movie.
"ah but the third movie everyone was mean to him" Yeah they were, but the first part of the last movie was supposed to be in the end of the third movie, which explains why it is so bloated in time (which was a big trouble, since they had to rewrite and add lots of new scenes
