Is the Riki-Oh manga any good? I need some violent, 80s era seinen.

As the other poster said Riki-Oh isn't as good as Hokuto no Ken or Souten no Ken, but it goes full retarded in the best of ways near the end. It starts off incredibly entertaining, hits a lull in the middle and then the final arc happens and the bizarre explanations don't stop coming until it's over. It's rather fun and not too long.

There's something quaint about an IP that knows exactly what story it wants to tell, tells it in a reasonably succinct fashion, then properly ends. Also, that bonus chapter with the buddy cop story was some good stuff.

After being disappointed by Squid Game with all the hype around it, I feel like checking out Akagi and rewatching/rereading Kaiji. I know every contrarian fag says Kaiji is so much better than Squid Game but...it's fucking true lol
The Kaiji series is fuckin gold. I see it as sorta like the seinen version of Hikaru no Go. Awesome characters and story with a good dash of comedy with the narrator with his funny mannerisms.

I really need to try rereading the kaiji manga again since I tried picking up the first volume up awhile ago thinking it be an easy read I could just flip through since I've rewatched the anime a few times but I was surprised how much added details the anime ended up cutting (at least from restricted RPS)

I literally picked Squid Game up because the promotional images and trailer reminded me so much of Kaiji and I'm pretty sure that experience is common amongst Kaiji fans which is why you hear "Read Kaiji" so much in discussions about it.

Speaking of Korean stuff and anime/manga, has anyone read the Old Boy manga?
The only thing I know about it is unlike the Korean movie there is no incest, which is surprising for Japan. But aside from that I haven't seen too many people talk about it.

AnimeLab shutting down on December 9th

AnimeLab was proudly built from the ground up by a team of Aussie anime fans, who sought to bring a stellar streaming platform to the local community. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your support over the last 8 years. A new era is upon us now as we venture into the global anime community in collaboration with our Funimation teammates – we look forward to bringing you on this journey with us.

A friend of mine who's a big FKMT fan (he's read all of Akagi and Kaiji and convinced me to watch the Kaiji anime) watched Squid Game when it came out, and his reaction was basically the same: Squid Game is okay, but it pales in comparison. I might still check it out myself sometime, but I'd honestly rather just do a Kaiji rewatch. One of the most entertaining and downright tense series I've ever watched, with every arc having its share of incredible moments.

I mean, seriously, if you ever told me before I watched it that I'd be glued to my screen for multiple episodes of playing a pachinko machine, I would have called you crazy. But that's exactly what happened.

And the narrator is the cherry on top of the experience. The KUYASHI scene will never leave my brain.

Really wish we could get a third season sometime. It's been a decade since season 2, c'mon already.

Just blew through the Berserk manga in a couple of weeks and now I'm supper bummed out we're never going to get a resolution. Then again maybe the real treasure was the journey itself. 10/10 would recommend.

I have. It's great but way different from the movie. Also it has gay untertones. In the manga it's suspected that the man who stalks the main character is gay.

Compared to Tomoko's crippling social anxiety in the early part of WataMote, Naoto (Sempai) has it easy. I'm not sure if you can even call it "social anxiety" in Naoto's case, since he's at least somewhat social in his club, it's more like he's an introverted artist who is uncomfortable with people seeing his unfinished work, especially when they're loudmouthed tanned bully girls.

I thought shows like that were supposed to be wish fulfillment for people with social anxiety. I mean you get a cute girl show up at your side who isn't actually a bully but someone who's interested in you. That's why it's popular on 4chan.
