I already have the Mamo DVD. The Blu-Ray is going to be that, but higher quality.
Really, I think we're all waiting for them to release Ninja Robots.

Discotek is not the savior of the American anime industry or anything. It's filled with too many Anime News Network and other industry circlejerking faggots for it to be.DISCOTEK SAVED US
Yeah they said they are still looking for the last part of the dub.I already have the Mamo DVD. The Blu-Ray is going to be that, but higher quality.

DISCOTEK SAVED US
Cutie Honey the Live
Sayuki Reload
Gunbuster
Girls Air Force
Lupin Mystery of Momo
Samurai Troopers
Lupin vs Conan
I believe the world just simultaneously came
Holy shit, I've been wanting this for years and had basically given up hope on owning the OVA and not the movie. Also apparently another series they're releasing Machine Robo has never been full subbed passed some crabsticks so it's nice to see them putting such a niche show out.Gunbuster
Being honest, I don't really care because the work that Discotek puts into bringing out titles that no other company will bother with, especially those that don't even have much in the way of fan-translation, is much more important to me. Just the sheer amount of time and effort they're putting into stuff like Prokect A-ko makes me appreciate their passion for anime, same thing I feel for the guys over at animeigo. Even then, I wouldn't consider Discotek itself "full" of anything because most of the people that work there are through contract/freelance work. When you compare them to most of the other current members of the American anime industry they are by far the best if you care about older anime and half decent releases.Discotek is not the savior of the American anime industry or anything. Why retranslate Teyandee?
Since Teyandee already has an officially-released translation by Discotek, I suppose it would be appropriate to start with explaining why I decided it was worth attempting to retranslate it by showing...digitalshokunin.tumblr.com
This I will agree is bad. Had never heard of it since I think the dub was what got most people to buy so they didn't bother bringing the Japanese sub over onto blu-ray. Not like they had the space since all the episodes were crammed on one disc, which is the biggest complaint I could find. They've censored the subtitles of Samurai Pizza Cats' original Japanese track.
This doesn't matter to me because I don't have to read the linear notes to enjoy the special, it's entirely optional, even then the one you posted isn't even bad since it's just noting some behind the scenes trivia. By doing so they were able to release the special practically untouched (as far as I know) because they made sure to add a disclaimer for the more sensitive audiences. If that upsets you, just literally get up and make some popcorn or something until the actual special starts and it'll have practically zero impact. Then there was them getting their panties in a twist over the Lupin special with a gay nazi villain and wrote linear notes kvetching about anime's supposed rampant homophobia.View attachment 2423684
They went back and retranslated it when the sub appeared on Crunchyroll. Look at the first episode there - the gay jokes are intact. This I will agree is bad. Look at what they did with the Ninja Robots dub, for example; the damn thing only appeared on TV in Australia and Southeast Asia and was practically lost - and now they have all but two minutes of it! Somehow they pulled it off, and the dub's been preserved.Being honest, I don't really care because the work that Discotek puts into bringing out titles that no other company will bother with, especially those that don't even have much in the way of fan-translation, is much more important to me. Dang, no Nightwalker: Midnight Detective or Silent Mobius.Plus they gave us stuff i never thought we'd get like Dear Brother, City Hunter, the 70s Cutie Honey, etc
They're a shit company ran by and staffed by predominently shitheads, but you can't deny they're one of the absolute best in Western anime to pirate from thanks to the titles they put out which are usually obscure shit. Plus you're stealing money/sales from assholes, so it's a win-win.Discotek is not the savior of the American anime industry or anything. Tropes, stereotypes and archetypes exist in every format of fiction, it's just how they're used that's the important part. I'd tell them to get to get over themselves in the same way an anime purist who despises western media for similar reasons needs to.You know, there are still some people that turn up their noses at anime for reasons like this (from a Metroid thread of me asking why they dislike anime aesthetics popping up in games like Samus Returns):

Would you say those sorts of critiques are accurate? How would you respond?
This person I could argue has a very small sample size that they are judging the whole by, which isn't an accurate approach when making wide sweeping statements like that. Sample size sounds like "I watched some shounen anime once" and not much else. You know, there are still some people that turn up their noses at anime for reasons like this (from a Metroid thread of me asking why they dislike anime aesthetics popping up in games like Samus Returns):

You can dilute any character down to such basic archetypes if you stripe them of their substance. Like Samus, if I stripped her down would be something like the "stoic strong one" that they're complaining about anime using, but most likely if you told them that they'd moan about how "that's not true because of x" like the same thing can't be used against them. Their last paragraph is a lame attempt to handwave the rightful criticism they are going to get from people giving numerous examples of when they're wrong is also peak reddit. Archetypes aren't a bad thing as long as a writer properly fleshes it out and takes it beyond that.
lol, imagine taking a Redditard’s shitty opinion seriously instead of laughing at how stupid it is.You know, there are still some people that turn up their noses at anime for reasons like this (from a Metroid thread of me asking why they dislike anime aesthetics popping up in games like Samus Returns):

I'm willing to put up with Netflix as long as it means they keep the Stand names in the subs and also because it's a better alternative to Crunchyroll. (Though wait, the dub's had to change some of the names, too, right? I dunno.)Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean hits Netflix of all places this December

Just remember that if you'd argue about women in western media only being a single category (bitchy better-than-thou lesbian) those people will lose their shit. You know, there are still some people that turn up their noses at anime for reasons like this (from a Metroid thread of me asking why they dislike anime aesthetics popping up in games like Samus Returns):

Alright, now that the site's back up (for now), I can finally give my thoughts (now editing this, this is more a mixture of my thoughts and a summary of the post... so I've spoilered it for anyone who wants to skip it).Chiaki Konaka (of Digimon Tamers fame among others) has posted his thoughts on the... press surrounding the Digimon Tamers 2021 script reading on his personal blog.
Link to the post
(I'm on mobile right now so I'll give my thoughts on it later)
The post is all in English, which means translation isn't necessary.
Basically like us here, nothing wrong with that (people got on his ass for no reason).I was frustrated by the exclusion of alternative journalists from the major platforms, and by the fact that the counter perspective was hidden.
I guess he's trying to say that people were assuming he was "alt-right" without actually looking at anything he's said. (which is true)There were people who accused me of having a particular label.
I've never expressed any particular political beliefs.
There was no anime that brought more diversity to that era than "Digimon Tamers".
So I was sad, but don't worry.
As I mentioned earlier, my plan "2020" has already been cancelled.
You shouldn't need to apologize lol"I will leave the Digimon Tamers 2021 blog to be read in the future by those who liked the original Tamers, and I will delete any comments that accuse me of being a bad person.
A lot of people have defended me and told me not to apologize, but it's very hard to see such a divide among the fans.
Let me just apologize for the fact that I caused it to happen.
