I'm hoping for a 3rd season for Zombieland Saga. Since Kotaro said he wants to take the girls global we might get it and see them go to places like Paris, London, and New York. I also want to see where they take Sakura's and Kotaros relationship. Mostly I want to see
Kotaro reveal he's really Inui
.
We also need a follow up on the ayy lmao's

On an interesting note, this was the April Fools image. How naive we were to call this a joke

I recently finished Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song and I love it. The premise may have been alienating at first and I expected the cringe from Macross F while also expecting the writing to be complete and utter shit since it's written by the same people who worte Re:Zero. In spite of that, they made it work and I was more than pleasantly surprised.

Turns out Cheat Slayer got canceled after one chapter, guess the designs was too similiar to be comfortable about not getting sued or something. Kind of unfortunate, I was interested in knowing what the deal was with the part-time waitress.
Wanted to post about it. Pretty weird since Japanese usually don't give a shit about copyright, but I guess the feelings of rich mangakas are too important...

It's interesting to know which authors had a problem with it. Iirc the only one to mention it was the author of Slime who said he wasn't bothered by it but wished they had asked.

Though, many think it was because it was mean spirited on account of featuring characters that weren't really particularly popular, or isekai'd but sold more than his work. He also tried writing an isekai about a lawyer before that got canceled.

I feel like they're stretching with who some of the designs are meant to represent, you could probably make a solid case for Ainz but the rest just seem coincidental.

What do you guys think?

Some people are bringing up a solid point on why they even bothered to approve of the manga in the first place if they knew it was going to get cancelled after the first chapter.

Subaru's expy is named Honda which gave me a chuckle though.

For what its worth, I was able to clock most of them almost immediately other than the Shin from the Shin/Rudi fusion. Adding their names and powers, its pretty clear who is who.

Are we finally reaching critical mass poor taste? Is this Isekai: Endgame?
It's more of a stagnation than increasingly lower quality. What the industry needs is some big name author making a work about how the genre is shit, intellectually bankrupt and appeals to losers who fucked up their lives and want a redo, except not really since they are just reborn as chads.

Seems like it should be well within the realms of parody. Maybe Japan has stricter intellectual property laws?

I haven't gotten around to watching everything that looked interesting this season, but I figure I'll have time to catch up with this upcoming season since not a lot is grabbing me right away. Out of what I saw and in no particular order:
Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song: Really enjoyed it. You never know what you're gonna get with an anime-original, but the story kept me engaged throughout. Neat designs as well. Some quibbles with the time travel stuff, but I'm willing to let it slide since good time travel is pretty damn hard to write. The piano ED gave me all kinds of emotions.

Zombieland Saga Revenge: Loved it, I'm so glad that they finally got around to a second season. Not only did they move the story forward, they filled in more of the backstory and fleshed out the world some more; the Yugiri episodes were a highlight (as well as proof that she's best girl). Comedy remained top-notch, and there were some fantastic new songs too. There had better be a season 3; you don't get to end on an ayy lmao invasion and not follow up on it!

86: Kind of dragged in the beginning and middle, but it really picked up for me as it progressed towards the end. The weakest part was the very heavy-handed racism metaphor, and I felt like my eyes were glazing over anytime the white-hairs were going on about how 86ers were subhuman and so they can die whatever. However, when the plot moved beyond that and focused on the last remaining survivors, I got emotionally engaged again, with the last episode being quite heavy. Season 2 is coming in the fall, and I'll be checking it out.

SSSS.Dynazenon: I guess I'm going against the grain here, but I liked this one a lot too. I didn't really have the same issues with the plot or characters; it didn't quite reach the heights that Gridman did, but I found it to be entertaining nonetheless. Gauma was a particular delight. Trigger might have a mixed record, but I'm still engaged with these Gridman series, and with a Gridman x Dynazenon series already greenlit, I'm looking forward to it.

Nomad: Megalobox 2: Out of the series I watched, this would be my pick for anime of the season. Megalobox was incredible, and pulling off a good sequel was a tall order, but I think they did great. It's not just a repeat of the first season's story, instead picking up years later after tragedy tears Team Nowhere apart. It gave Joe a new bottom to start from and a new goal to work towards. Not only that, but the other boxers also had their own arcs that they went through, which really added to the overall plot. A very different story with a satisfying ending, backed up by that unique artstyle. I'd be happy to see more, but if they end it there, that's also fine by me.
This season really did have a lot of good stuff to watch, I've got such a backlog left to get through.

The anime with the interesting English title I mentioned when it first aired called Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway just finished this week. Apparently it became quite popular over the course of its run. It ended up being a pretty wholesome story and the end concluded decently. However, I gotta say some parts near the end were a bit ridiculous and made it drag on. Overall, decent romance seinen series and worth a watch. I give it a 7.5/10

Usually when manga gets cancelled this quick, it's probably more likely that it didn't sell well or had been panned by Japanese audiences really hard.

But looking into this probably had to do with intellectual property laws especially since this article cites that the editorial department pulled the manga (which is probably out of fear in being sued)
