Would it be OK if I necromanced this thread?

I still enjoy the Nostalgia Critic, but I wouldn't mind him cutting down on the new skits. And I also see that he's been drifting away from his original "nostalgia" theme to cover more recent fare like Man of Steel. If it's because he's running out of 80's and 90's movies to review, maybe he could review something that wasn't a feature-length film? His recent "Was That Real" series does provide overviews of obscure shows from the Millennial "nostalgia" period, but I'd like to see him review select episodes from shows like those. He could even discuss subjects that were "nostalgic" but not really movies or shows, like maybe toys from that era.

I've gotta ask something - what do you guys think of Will Ryan's Animerica?

Take anime abandon and remove Sage's charm and add in Lewis's story arcs? No thanks.

Glad we agree at least here that Anime Abandon > (* INFINITY) Animerica.

THAT, and Sage ain't as lazy as Will Ryan clearly is to put out new content for the official show.

I personally thought Sage lost all credibility when he pussied out on reviewing Violence Jack. Something that he promised to do for a while.

Violence Jack isn't even that bad. It's no worse than Urotsukidoji.
And that's the problem. He was hyping the review constantly because he heard it was a bad series of OVAs. Then when it came time, he fucking changed his mind like a wuss.

I've seen those OVA (all three of them, thanks YouTube). And they're bad, and yet highly entertaining, like they knew they were making schlock and rolled with it. And to top it all off, they're not that gory. Are they violent? Well yeah, that's in the fucking title. But shit like Jojo and Fist of the North Star were gorier than Violence Jack.

Sage is just a wuss, plain and simple.

I'm going to have to say, I like Doug's new bit where he talks about lesser known shows. Like that recent one he did with Small Wonder. It's nice to see him tackle something that most people wouldn't have any reference too. I'm kinda hoping he'll tackle Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills someday.

He did eventually say that he did not expect it to be well received at all, as he was trying something genuinely different. He did make up for it with the M.D Geist and InuYasha reviews though...

I like it too for the reason that it short simple and there no bullshit like a story line or the other actors in unfunny skits that drag out the video just him talking about what ever weird show for a few minutes with a few quick jokes throw in.

I seem to recall Sage intentionally lying to make some of the series he has reviewed worse than they really are. Usually by omitting parts of said series/ova during the review that negate something he critiques on later. The best example I can remember was his Evangelion stuff.
Nah, that's just how he really thinks. Bennett really isn't very smart. In his "Top Ten Worst Songs (By Otherwise Good Artists)" video, he cites Mark Knopfer's "Mind he's strictly rhythm he doesn't want to make it cry or sing" lyric as a summation of his style. The second after Knopfer sings that lyric, he makes his guitar cry and sing.

I don't hate the guy. I don't find him to be obnoxious or pretentious like Noah or Lewis, but in the words of Weird Al, he's "a few fries short of a happy meal".

I actually enjoyed Jurassic World, TBH, so I'm actually quite glad I didn't click this embarrassing BS.

Saw it today myself, and yeah, I found it fun. I imagine his nitpicks are on the level of 'THEY'RE ALL FUCKIN' STUPID!', 'LOL HIGH HEELS' and 'Y NO PRACTICAL EFFECTS?'

It likely will be that - plus him going "Bring back Jurassic Park!" or some shit like that. Why doesn't he go praise the classics, instead? All this negativity from NC is just... pathetic, deep down IMHO. He could stand to make more positive reviews - and if he dislikes this film so much, he could talk about Jurassic Park and then compare it to Jurassic World. But NC is too dumb to do that if he's doing what he did in that link...
