I also seem to recall one of the original writers being gay, and another being a woman, which is also quite progressive of Roddenberry. They didn't try this though because like Sony they didn't want to get dicked by the audience leaving in rage. Difference being that TOS was 60s, and even TNG, which was where the idea took root, was 80s. It wasn't going to happen because at the time the LGBT groups were ostracized heavily. Tolerance really didn't begin to spring up until the 90's or so, and it still took another decade for it to become far less of a big deal. In short; it would've killed Star Trek to actually go that far.His Old vs New Spiderman version was just bad on the fact that he pretty much got the entire character of Spiderman wrong. It wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't for the fact that he made an entire point between judging the two Spideys and then deciding which is the "true" version of the character. Many Spiderman fans were not impressed with the video (not so much as to which movie he choose but how he got essential things of Spidey wrong).
