I'm surprised Strider is against Fembusters. Seeing how he praises the tumblrina cartoons you'd think he'd be all over the new movie.

Anyway, for those who can't wait...

Does Doug think he looks like somebody respectful when he reviews stuff with that old-ass X Men shirt? I bet you anything he's owned that since the fucking 80s...

How sad that the only positives Strider has that Enter doesn't is "He has a more tolerable voice" and "At least it's not edited on Movie Maker"? Damned by faint praise, indeed.

Oh kaloo kalay, next week is nu-Ghostbusters as told through one of Doug's clipless reviews. The autism will be great:View attachment 119155

You know he's going to bend over backwards to appease SJW faggots. He'll rant and rave and then end the review by trying to appear smart where he'll say: "It's really not that bad, females need more progressive movies, I'm a cuck, I stole a hundred grand from my retarded autistic fans, manchildren who hate it are wrong, etc."

Fist bump my nigga!

Why is Angry Joe even relevant to begin with???
I'm not sure, but he's made a name for himself. With two and a half million subscribers, he trumps the actual angry nerd, James Rolfe, in subscriber count. Doesn't really matter since James actually produces good content.

Please do when you can. I only recall a throwaway line from a commentary. Some elaboration would be interesting.

Okay, so it's basically all about:

Who you know
Not having an ego/but having enough confidence to make people have confidence in you
Experience
Being ready to compromise
Not living in a praise bubble
Critiquing yourself

Most of which Doug doesn't have/do. (Knowing Mara Wilson and Don Bluth could open some doors, but the fact that Don Bluth resorted to a kickstarter to fund his most recent adaptation shows that he's been out of the business for years).

Now, as for the whole studio control myth, it's kind of true and kind of false. If you're going to be a screenwriter, and only a screenwriter (I'm talking films only, tv you have way more control), once you sell your script, you're going to have no control over it unless the director wants you involved. The studios can make changes, completely alter the storyline, hire a ghost writer, make changes to the characters, and change the tone/message. Sometimes this can be a good thing, but other times it can ruin what could of been a good movie.

But if you're going to make a movie as a writer and director, you'd have to work your way up, and prove you're competent before a studio puts their trust and you and gives you that kind of power. And, even if the project is your project, the producers/studio execs can make changes and tell you how to do things a certain way. They do this because they want the movie to make money, and also be a good film. But sometimes they might have the wrong idea, or be so out of touch with the audience.

If Doug showed someone at Warner Bros "Kickassia" and said "let me make a movie" he'd get a "thank you, we'll let you know" and when he was gone they'd trash it. I wouldn't be surprised if Doug attempted to do that and that's why he's so bitter about Hollywood and about studios.

Doug's Ghostbusters 2016 review is out and it's pretty bad.

And it ends with this.

Called it. He was going to play both sides, he has a particularly cringy bit "Maninisms", and he has this big emotional end with him trying to appear smart and it's like that forced bit of emotional pornography like in an Adam Sandler movie.

At one point this moron say's the remake had a better use of the proton packs when the ladies fight the ghosts at the end. He whines that the original had shoddy fight choreography for the ghostbusting scenes. It reminds me of his argument against the Lightsaber fight between Darth and Obi in Star Wars 1 and how Red Letter Media pointed out that the fight wasn't about impressive fight choreography, it was about the characters.

Damn, those Chicago Ghostbusters are some fat motherfuckers...

Tried watching the review, but the fucking video player lags on me.

From what I did see, it's just Doug trying to (poorly) regurgitate the moral of "Respect other peoples opinion". Which I can't take seriously when he is the foremost expert of making other people take his word as legit.

That seems to be a thing with Doug, where praises a new version of a series over the original for technical reasons that go without saying. I remember an Old vs. New episode between the 2000s Spider-Man series and The Amazing Spider-Man movies, he came up with an "effects" category just to push TASM over the edge.

He truly is exceptional isn"t he? How the fuck do you compare effects 72 years apart?
I think he wanted to give the new one a chance to score points. Tbf, he made some fair points about how the effects from the original King Kong still hold up and how they were able to work quite a lot of emotion into the stop-motion sequences, even if it was ultimately no contest which film would win in that category.

There's still the fact that's a completely unfair comparison. It's essentially like giving the first film a handicap, besides there's no point to it. Anyone with half a brain would know before he started that effects from the thirties would not hold up to effects from the 2000. Unless the 2005 one did everything with cheep action figures.

You'd be surprised by how well some scenes still manage to hold up these days (especially some of the Skull Island shots), and have people defend them left, right and center. Unfair comparison as it may be, but when the 05 movie has things like the Bronto Stampede and the rather cheap-looking in parts New York City digi backdrop. I think it's fair to compare to some extent.

But the fact he pulled it out of his ass doesn't give him much credibility.

His Old vs New Spiderman version was just bad on the fact that he pretty much got the entire character of Spiderman wrong. It wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't for the fact that he made an entire point between judging the two Spideys and then deciding which is the "true" version of the character. Many Spiderman fans were not impressed with the video (not so much as to which movie he choose but how he got essential things of Spidey wrong).

Anyway
