I'm still utterly confused as to why watching a stranger play video games on the internet is even remotely entertaining (unless it's a review or guide of some sort). It doesn't help when all they do is screech and yell profanities into their microphones or giggle annoyingly every second for no apparent reason.

A lot of the LPs I watch are of games that I already beat, in which case the appeal is the commentary. I will admit that most of the appeal of Chip and Ironicus for me is their style of commentary: funny, but not loud or abrasive, and both of them do post-commentary and are willing to do more than one take of a video so they're not stumbling over all their words or getting too sidetracked. And they make some damn good jokes during it.

Also, some of their videos are of a game that I'm interested in seeing play out, but not actually interested in buying and playing for myself. Again for Chip and Ironicus, this would be Metal Gear Rising: I'd love to see how the whole game plays out, but I'm not interested enough in the game or the genre to actually get it.

Is it wrong if I find this video painful to watch?

I'm ashamed to admit I used to like this video about 5 years ago, now not so much (Silent Rob really overdid it with the F-bombs)

I prefer NorthernLion's "Let's Hate Action 52"

Elton John kills you.
Money kills you.
And now going up kills you?

I once tried making a "angry" review on Cave Man Games (because that game is so stupid with its impossible to figure out controls) but it was shit.

Funnily enough, I once had aspirations to become a filmmaker and James Rolfe sure pushed me in that direction, I was already into that sort of stuff though, but I just figured I wanted to run away and join the circus.

That was 2010 though. Now its 2014 and I'm happy where I am. Maybe I'll revisit it and maybe there I'll make video game documentaries on Myths such as SMB and LoZ in Animal Crossing, Pokemon Cursed Black, Bigfoot in San Andreas, the list could go on.

It's too bad he's not actually silent, he'd be a lot more palatable.

Silent Rob really was a jerk though. He had this sort of rampage because the Irate Gamer was given Youtube partnership and Rob seemed to think he deserved similar accolades.

So he made a website where you needed to paypal him $5 to even get into it. What a dick.

He eventually reversed this after discovering nobody was gonna pay, but man...

Other douches include Spax3. He created a freaking World War on Youtube once. I sat there and listened to it all. :?

I used to be a fan of the Nostalgia Critic back when he first started. I stopped watching the videos around late 2010 as they were becoming a bit hit-and-miss for me. Out of curiosity I watched one of his later videos recently and I don't know what happened, but suddenly I found him much more annoying and abrasive than I did before. I soon realised that most of his videos, even the ones I enjoyed back in his "golden age" had a load of those overly long gags, obnoxious shouting and mugging to the camera that I now can't stand. As somebody else mentioned on this topic, I quite like his reviews when he's not in Critic mode like the Disneycember videos, but I find his screamy-shouty voice to be really irritating and forced.

The Nostalgia Critic and TGWTG on the whole really became a mess when they decided that: Constantly doing crossovers in between videos, and then acting like screaming children during them = being funny.

The whole act really isn't good for your brain. Your audience perceives this is how you always act and it becomes apart of you. There was a huge thing with Spoony that's evidence of this, and even though he left TGWTG for the much better Retroware TV, look what happened to Jew Wario.

The only reason I'd have to watch any TGWTG video is if the subject is a film or a cartoon I am interested in.

Okay, two things:

1. Mike Matei should never review things without James.

2. Asa's always been a bit of an asshole. I just didn't realize how much of an insane one he was.

I kinda feel sorry for Mike. I didn't watch that video (I don't want to from the sound of it) but it sounds like he was just trying to appeal to James' subscribers, but sort of had no idea what his subscribers like or what humor is. I know he learned his lesson, his later solo videos are a lot better because he actually just straight-up reviews things while making a few witty remarks as opposed to screaming obscenities for absolutely no reason. I know his type, poor guy just wants to be liked.

Eh, in my opinion, Mike Matei did get better in recent videos especially the ones he played games with James.

Anyway, any new news about Asa?

Gonna leave this right here.

Mike really has found his stride doing the new Monday game review/play throughs. Solo he just doesn't have the 'it' factor that makes youtubers popular and that sucks because he seems like a cool guy who really likes what he does.

I really can't see how these can be considered lolcows.
I guess some of these "angry" gamers/critics try to get notice but only end up getting trolls as subscribers. It wouldn't help that some of said critics could have a big ego and think their work is great when it shows to actually be rather mediocre or bad.
