Game Grumps and Jon Tron huh. Well I've seen one Game Grump video that did mock the "angry" gamer but I never seen Jon Tron. I honestly do not care if they are popular, overrated, or annoying as long as they aren't like Game Dude in spamming and lack of originality or DSP in terms of a lack of skill and constantly dying.

Game Grumps got 100% more watchable when JonTron left. Nothing personal against him, I just don't think his brand of "humor" is enjoyable.

I actually sorta agree with this.

I mean they actually managed to complete the entirety of Punch Out! (sans beating Mike Tyson but even then he's more or less a bonus final boss) and it was actually entertaining to watch someone who could actually play the game without bitching about it's inferiority to something else. (If you watch their A Link to the Past videos all Jontron does is talk about how much he prefers Ocarina, and Egoraptor points out good design elements with it)

For JonTron, I remembered watching his "Space Ace SNES" video, and eh, it's okay for me:

What do you all think of Spoony? I somehow ended up at his site, and I was really into his Ultima videos. I also like his FF stuff.

I liked Spoony's videos such as his early videos (DnD NES games) and of course his Ultima videos as well. Even liked some of the FMV videos he done.

Spoony's not really an angry critic, most of the time he is pure analysis or just pointing out flaws in a storyline or characterization. It helps the games he picks (Such as Ultima 9 or Final Fantasy 13) have nonsensical storylines as it is.

Sure he started out as one but he's long since evolved from it. Just like how he doesn't do reviews of Atari or NES games anymore.

Not to mention the guy periodically goes through dry spells where he only puts out like a single review every 6 months or so. To his detriment since he's a lazy shit.

Anyone else like Doug Walker more when he's not in character? I really enjoyed his Avatar: TLA vlogs, but as the Nostalgia Critic he's very hit and miss (usually more miss).

There's a lot of really good Nostalgia Critic moments where he isn't angry but more just really analytical like he is in his vlogs, I feel he should completely adopt this format for the future as it would greatly mature his fanbase from 12 year olds that just wanna hear "fuck" and "poopie"

Unfortunately I think the people who tolerate his immature humor for his analysis are outnumbered by said 12 year olds. It's especially odd because I've heard Doug make some really great comments about how to write crafted jokes and what makes funny comedy in his Nostalgia Critic videos, yet the "jokes" written by him usually fall flat for me. That's not to say he hasn't gotten a good laugh out of me, though.

As for the Game Grumps, I actually never realized how little Jon brought to the table until Danny took over. Not that Jon was awful. Danny is just much more consistently funny and has more insightful things to say. Plus he doesn't complain all the time. I love the Game Grumps but I feel like I can't say this in front of their fanbase because Jon is the second coming of Christ or something.

Well yeah, make no mistake about it ever since Demo Reel flopped hard I doubt he's ever going to try and take much more risks with his content.

I don't like him. My impression of him is someone who whines about "da good ol' days". Saw a few videos, don't care to watch any more.

I thought the Nostalgia Critic had an annoying voice, but this guy makes Doug Walker sound like Cecil Baldwin.

That guy (if you couldn't tell by him sperging out about Charlie fucking Brown) definitely has autism. The way his voice goes up and down in pitch is a symptom of autism or whatever. Something about how a lot of them can't control their voices. You can actually see it in a lot of Chris's videos, especially when he's excited or angry.

There is this guy I remember watching a few months back; he reviewed all the Rugrats movies, I think. But his style of reviewing is exactly like the NC, well before the NC became unfunny.

The thing I can't stand with the way AVGN and the NC make their reviews now is that they include story arcs or whatever. I especially hate that with the NC. It's not funny and they drag on for far too long, I find myself skipping through the videos a lot which makes it frustrating, so why bother.

But beside that, I just lost interest in 'em. I do like the NC's editorials, though.

Yes.

I don't mind the character too much. What just bugs me is when, in character, he gets so worked up that he juts spends a minute or so throwing an incoherent shit-fit.

Also the TLA vlogs were pretty great.

I can't stand the "I AM ANGRY AT ALL" personality. Screaming is abrasive.

My preferred LP team is ChipCheezum and General Ironicus. They get a little loud and excited sometimes, but always in a relatively subdued manner; Chip screamed in the MGS3 LP specifically, but just for a few videos. Not to mention the LPs are just done well: post-commentary over a recorded video, editing out boring parts like traveling across the map or repeating grinding actions, editing in extra footage to show off stuff that got missed in the main playthrough (as well as playing a section multiple times to edit together the best video possible), and optionally cutting out their commentary during cutscenes for the benefit of those who want them. Chip shows what's close to a 100% run of whatever game he's playing as well. It's all done about as professionally and informatively as a comedy LP can be.

Agreed. Personally I enjoy his Disneycember videos quite a bit. What I find more irritating are the fanboys who think everything he does is hilarious and can do no wrong. They are much worse than any angry movie reviewer.

Ignore the fact that I apparently didn't get that Asalieri was making fun of Angry Joe in that vid I linked. I've since watched a bunch of his vids. When I posted that link months ago, I think I didn't get the joke. Like I thought it was just some guy pretending to be a Hispanic reviewer, but now I get the things that he was mocking, like the bit about the game awards interview, because I watched Asalieris vids about Angry Joe.

The only one I still follow is AVGN/James Rolfe. I'd only watch JonTron once and I regret it. Seriously after I watch it, I got one of the biggest headache ever. All he did was yelled at top of his lungs and act like fucking 5 year old at Walmart. How the hell did he ever get "famous" is beyond me.
