Christ, what is this, middle school?

This sort of drama is pretty much the norm with Team Snob nowadays:

a) The whole situation with Jerrid, where everyone on Team Snob refused to work with him until Brad gave up on damage control on Jerrid's behavior and fired him.

b) The situation between Sara and her ex-husband (Brian I think?)

c) The whole situation between Brad and Jillian, where supposedly there was a lot of fucked up shit going on behind the scenes of the divorce then they were letting on.

It's too bad that Jake turned out to be that way; I thought he was pretty funny. Although finding out about this kind of makes sense for a lot of things he's said. Jake would always say that he was the talent in his midnight reviews, and I always thought it was a joke, but I guess his ego was that big. There was also that one video where he said that this girl who was playing a joke on him (going on a date with him to some crappy kids movie) looked at least 17 when others asked if she was legal. I thought it was a joke, but now that this has come out it's all kind of creepy. I feel bad for Brad. Whether he's a "good" person or not, I hope he takes care of himself and doesn't go over the edge. I don't want another Spoony meltdown to happen...

I'll give Brad this: As much of a dick as he apparently is, he's very good at keeping his reactions to himself when shit like this happens (and in the rare instances where it *does* become public, he usually just issues brief statements about things and doesn't dwell on it).

I used to watch Brad's videos back before these angry reviewers really got old to me and fast. It's a shame because I think he has a better sense of humor than pretty much everyone else at that shithole TGWTG/CA. But the angry reviewer setup is played out and terrible.

Also, I'm gonna give a major sperg alert for this next part, but I think his approach to movies seems really stupid. He's satirical of the kind of "cinema snob" who loves canonical movies but hates anything campy or genre-based. Which is fine, I too hate those types, but he's the exact same in the opposite direction where he meets anything unconventional with FUCK UR PRETENTIOUS INDIE ART SCHOOL BULLSHIT LOL. I'm not a fan of the film (even if I generally enjoy Terrence Malick), but his and Jake's Tree of Life review was painful. "OMG SOOOOO BORING" unlike two hours of us sitting in one place rambling like idiots about a movie.

Even then though, I always thought his friends seemed like really awful people. I got a bad vibe from Jake immediately. He was an obnoxious cunt and really seemed like he had some screws loose.

An entire medium cannot innately be shit, it's merely being embraced by shit practitioners.

99% of everything is shit.

Yeah, thanks for pushing back against my hyperbole because you raise a good point. But I will admit it's a medium/style I'm not a big fan of. I've just always very much preferred laughing at bad movies themselves than someone else laughing at a bad movie for me. But to each their own.

Similarly, the Walker brothers are the same way only I don't think this was actually made for television; Doug has gone on to say multiple times that he specifically wants his state to be the alt-Hollywood and that he wants to establish the internet as a legitimate front for content for the people of Chicago.

He further elaborated that the reason why is because whenever people ask him about his occupation and he explains that he does movie reviews on the internet, they blank out on what he said, grasp at straws of what they just heard and ask "Porn?" According to him, it takes him a minimum of three tries to get the average Chicago citizen to grasp that the internet is good for more than porn. I take it that most Chicago citizens still live in the early 2000's.

Chicagoan here, and I don't buy it for a second. If you tell a Chicagoan you do movie reviews on the Internet, they will hear exactly what you said. They might not be interested or impressed, though, which may have been what caused Doug Walker's confusion. Can you imagine being at a party with him trying to explain his job to you? Like being nibbled to death by ducks.

Also, Doug's nuts if he thinks he can turn Illinois into some kind of Internet Hollywood. The movie industry ended up in California partially because of the year-round nice weather, after all--and even if you're going to do a review show, you're going to end up filming outside at some point (especially if you have a storyline or skits in your reviews). Picture Doug, Linkara, Brad, and Spoony clambering over six-foot-high dirty snow piles with their toy pistols. Ain't gonna happen.

Could Florida work for 'Internet Hollywood'?

I don't know how relevant or legit this is, but I thought I'd post this. According to another user connected to both Jake, Rayn, and Brad, Brad fired Jake out of jealousy. Rayn didn't have feelings for Brad anymore, dumped him, and went to Jake (causing Brad to fire Jake). If you want to read the post it's here http://m.officialfan.proboards.com/thread/520084/jake-norvell-leaves-team-cinema?page=3 (scroll down). This was originally on the CA forums but was soon deleted.

Like I said, I don't know how legitimate this is; I'm honestly having a hard time believing it. However, it puts in a different perspective from Brad's side of the story, and because of that I thought this should be posted.

Brad generally seems to avoid drama, though. I'm pretty sure that's why Allison and Phelan are such good friends with him; he's never the one trying to spread the rumors or go in insane twitter ramblings like nearly every other CA reviewer. The Rayn woman (or Mamakat, whatever) spammed Brad's thread when he was explaining how the text leak was true and had all her posts deleted (but you can see sections when people quoted her), and Brad was simply avoiding her, not trying to argue back, since he has been consistent in avoiding her.

The accusations of Jake chasing 17 year olds and bouncing around with women can be seen in midnight reviews. Brad has consistently been the guy who does not try to start a fight with anyone and he's not even the one who let the news spill until people wanted confirmation from the leak. He's not the one harassing other people about it, unlike Rayn/Mamakat, so I tend to agree with the people who are handling a situation far more calmly than the snarky butthurt poster. I'm not seeing how Brad can be the one starting a 'war' when he didn't leak the text, he said repeatedly the issue is done and over with, and he's cutting himself away from Rayn. That's typically not the reaction you get from an immature person who is attempting to start drama.

I also personally don't see why the rest of the gang, if they know about it too, would just go back to business with their reviews if they thought Brad was the one being a creep. I don't know any of them personally so I don't know what they think about it or said to Brad, but everyone seems to still be doing fine with their midnight screenings, and again, they're the ones keeping the drama out of their business.

TL;DR at the end of the day, I'm going to side with the quiet person avoiding the drama than the catty "I have all the facts because I totally know this person" poster. But I also don't care enough to look more into it because it's not my business. Thank you for the thread, though! I didn't see Mamakat's stuff on the CA forum.

I remember months ago when Doug made the casting call for that game show thing. Considering I used to live in the Chicago-land area, I was like "cool, he's looking for people who are knowledgeable about 80s and 90s pop culture to be in a game show. That sounds like fun. I love trivia, and I'm pretty savvy about pop culture." But at the same time, I was like "actually, I just got my MFA in dramatic writing. Maybe I should move out to LA at the end of the summer." LA won. But then, I found out Brad was hosting the show, and I was like "should I have stayed? Brad's awesome!" But judging by the finished product, I made the right choice.

Regarding Doug's whole "Hollywood of the Internet Thing" about Chicago, a lot of films are shot in Chicago. Like Nolan's Batman movies, because Chicago had the Gotham City look he was going for. I think the scene in Spiderman 2 when he's saving the train and takes off his mask was shot in Chicago as well. And plus, isn't the internet, you know, the internet? You just need some wi-fi, and you can upload your pathetic reviews all you want!

I thought that Nolan's Gotham was Philly? Except in Dark Knight Rises where it was clearly New York and LA.

Nope, parts of it were clearly Chicago. I remember lower Wacker Drive being closed off while they filmed that eighteen-wheeler chase. And yes, @darkhorse816 , part of Spider-Man 2 was shot in Chicago as well.

Chicago will probably never be a major center of filmmaking, though. It's not just the weather--the politics and crime rates are prohibitive, and the city itself is heavily built-up with no room for the spacious studios and lots that movie-making needs. Yes, you can make indie films and Internet videos there, but you can make those anywhere. Filming yourself in a Chicago bedroom is no different than filming yourself in an LA bedroom.

TL;DR, I think Doug is overreaching. In other news, the sky is blue.

Sometime in 2013 or 2014, I stopped visiting TGWTG out of boredom/forgetfulness. It looks like I made the right choice.

I can safely say that after hearing all of this shit about Brad (Cinema Snob) and his shitty "friends"... I don't think I can ever watch another video from this guy ever again - not even from his past, where he was at his best, IMHO. It's just that painful for me.

Honestly, the whole situation with Team Snob is kind of a sad/pathetic tale. Apparently, they've all been friends for quite sometime, and were all willing to jump in and help Brad out when it came to making movies and reviews, but once things stopped being fun and became a bit more "real", it just got to a point where it became "who refuses to work with who, who hates who, etc".

Let me ask some questions:

What is the backstory about Bhargav fucking Lindsey and the other talent?

Why did Jerrid leave Team Snob?

What happened with Brad and Jillian that caused the divorce?
