Why in the living fuck did they want to make a gameshow again? Gameshows are the last resort for entertainment, just a half-step above soap operas and a half-step down from reality television.

Your second sentence answers your question.

Kind of bad to fail even at a quiz show. They do things like that at old folks' homes with amateurs on social nights and it works fine.

Kinda reminds me of something Danny Sexbang says which I think can sum up a majority of these critics, to paraphrase it 'The minute you stop just doing what you're doing for the love of it and become an asshole you've already lost'

Although I disagree with that sentiment, isn't this something that Doug Walker himself has said?

I think I phrased that wrong ^_^;;; he was talking about people getting an ego, acting like a dick to their fans and seeing their content as just a job rather than something they put time and effort into, which he claimed was an instant lose for both the fans and for the person themselves. But yeah I'm pretty sure Doug echoed that mentality too a while back, it's why while his content might be getting sillier and more skit based he does in general still seem to be one of the more reasonable ones on the site...then again I haven't followed for a long time so I'm sure someone can prove me wrong there

No, actually, he's been ramping up in regard to shitting on his fans. I recall there was an episode he did with the Shyamalam arch [I can't even] where they end up at a book store and What's-his-face punches him out of the Youtube video and crashing through the comments section. Nostalgia Critic gets up and starts chucking Youtube comments at what's-his-face saying "These have to be good for something." or some shit like that.

Eh, I don't know. Looking at a lot of the people who comment on his stuff on YouTube (and on his actual site, the forums not so much, they tend to shit on him if he deserves it) they deserve to be called out and mocked.

So far, I only watched a minute of that gameshow, and boy does it look pathetic. They have no skills at camera work, their audio quality's a joke, and the opening act is something that lacks any character and fails to get interest. Since Doug has seen a variety of gameshows allegedly (he did talk about them at one point), that's just amazing how you can miss so many important things.

God damn the audio treatment is terrible; you can just tell that when Linkara is yelling in German in the background that he's being picked up on Brad's microphone. Why in the living fuck did they want to make a gameshow again? Gameshows are the last resort for entertainment, just a half-step above soap operas and a half-step down from reality television. Not only that but gameshows are complicated as Hell to manage. Did they seriously not plan or even invest the tiniest amount of forethought into this before jumping in head first?

I would say that it'd be clever of them to broadcast this show on Twitch before uploading it to Youtube and/or Blip but that'd be giving them too much credit; even if it wasn't already confirmed, this shit is obviously scripted up the ass.

Gameshows live and die by their host's charisma and the spontaneity of the contestants in my opinion. From the beginning, I knew this was going to be shit. This was done 17 times over and used the same "contestants". That removes most of, if not all of the interesting elements in a gameshow, since this tells you right there that this shit is scripted. This is absolutely stupid on so many levels, as the only people who even remotely should have scripts are the staff members on the show, the characters if you will. Even then those staff members involved need to be able to play off script or adlib if you will, since they're dealing with the unpredictable in their contestants. On top of that, let's look into the introduction for this show, the title card if you will.

The intro to this show clearly shows that Doug and Rob Walker have no fucking idea on how these events work. Let me show you an introduction to a few gameshows to give you an idea on how big people do that, so you can compare and contrast.

Note how the clips mostly just were done to quickly get the viewer's attention and was just there to signpost that the show was on. It then quickly got to the host, who would then front for the event and well, draw crowds in. Compare to the intro of the show the Walker Bros made, where they felt the need to explain why the host felt the need to do this stuff, and it in itself only comes after an opening stinger that reveals the shitness of what you're getting. On top of that, the music score for this series is amazingly bland and doesn't properly capture a tone for the show. Now these are conventions and they can be broken, but it's very telling when they clearly saw this as more of a skit or a plot driven special than what it was: getting rubes on a quiz show to either succeed (which gameshows tend to want to be stingy on unless it's competition based) or fail.

Now I will say that Brad could work well as a gameshow host. He does have enough charisma to do it and the product could've possibly been good or even okay if you handed it to someone who had a little bit of competence. But, as you can clearly tell... not so much of anything here. I wouldn't be shocked if some of the retakes were done because the contestants "flubbed lines".

He's definitely got the voice and the smarmy charm that a lot of game show hosts need to have. Whether or not that can translate into an actual vocation is another story.

It's embarassing.
I bet They spend those money to fix some debt or in cocaine and whores.

That was one of the rumors going round at the time, that a good portion of the money they raised went to:
a) Brad's drag habit
b) The Walker's paying off their debts.

Is this true? I have no idea, all I know is this was the rumor that was spread.

Angry Joe treads the line between "extremely passionate" and "extremely incompetent" for me. I get the feeling that he really does enjoy what he does and part of me doesn't believe he's entirely in his field just for the money, but at the same time he likes running things his way and he'd rather be "unique" than he would be professional, which bites him in the ass more often than not.

That being said, I still find him entertaining.

His stunt was shitty as he didn't even have the facts right about the shit he was complaining, but the reactions of many Nintendo Fans were also pretty shitty as their standard response was "NO U".

I dunno, I prefer people calling out Nintendo for their mistakes than random YT, but Joe fucked up with his attitude and not knowing the facts about the program.

>ITT angry nintoddlers
In my opinion, Joe is on the right here. Sony and Microsoft no longer have any problem with their footage being shown and monetized, it's basically free advertisement. Nintendo Japan is just a bit behind the times.

I agree with the basic idea. But is kind of difficult to point it out when many people still drinks the kool aid of Nidtendo of Japan like when they say that they waited to do DLC "right" and then sell two different versions of Fire Emblem campaign (that you can buy online later) and the "true campaign" realesed later as DLC. So Joe usual angry persona would not ground well with most of Nintendo Fandom, specially when it seems that he had some omisions or didn't investigate about how Nintendo shitty whitelist actually works.

It's no secret that Nintendo is far less friendly to the "Internet" social media than Microsoft or Sony.

That being said, voicing his complaints in such a... public and brusque manner is a good way to burn bridges. I sympathize with him to some extent, but it's hard to take Joe seriously when he makes his "AngryJoe" persona bleed into real life interviews and other such ventures.

Heard about that game show in the LordKat video, and I think it was wise to stop being a fan of TGWTG when I did. Because boy howdy does that thing blow.

I would say that it'd be clever of them to broadcast this show on Twitch before uploading it to Youtube and/or Blip but that'd be giving them too much credit; even if it wasn't already confirmed, this shit is obviously scripted up the ass.
Honestly, I think it wouldn't past muster even in the live stream it premiered in. Hell, they should have asked themselves "Why are we doing this?" after filming the pilot for the millionth time. They clearly knew it wasn't going to go anywhere I'm an idiot, of course they wouldn't be asking that given their "Pie-In-The-Sky" attitudes and all. But enough rambling, here's my opinion on the pilot:

1. The logo. I know that logos have to be big and eye-catching, but for fuck sakes. That looks like something I'd whip up in five, maybe ten minutes tops. The silver looks garish against the black and the "Hotshot" was clearly added in at the last minute. Which is saying something since the rest of the logo also looks like an afterthought.

2. The questions, how the fuck would anyone think these were good? No, I mean it, why would something like "What toyline featured worms and grubs that glowed in the dark?" I know the answer, that being Gloworms and all. But how would they think their audience would get that?

3. The fact that this needed a plotline. Last I checked, the only plots game shows had were "People win prizes or lose spectacularly". Not "Internet personality decides to follow his dreams as a quiz show host". In fact, I expand this to everything TGWTG did, why the fuck does a review about a film like The Cat In The Hat need a plot surrounding it?

4. The overall unenthusiastic behavior of everyone invovled. The guy playing the gunman looks like he's about to fall asleep at any time now. And I can just see the last bit of Brad's dignity slowly killing itself. To say nothing about how clueless the players are in all this, or that Doug just wants to get his appearance over with.

5. The audio. You really have to see the episode to get an idea of how bad it really is. Everyone has a audible echo to their voices (a side effect of the studio, it seems). And I can barely hear any of them even with said echo, because of the improper use of a shotgun boom mic (it serves as Brad's mic). Was there really not enough money to invest in either soundproofing or another mic for the "actors" to use? Or hell, both?

6. The rest of the production values weren't so hot either. The graphics (what few there were, at any rate) look cheaper than usual for the site. The sound effects are poorly applied over the actual audio, those screens that keep the player's score look like they would fall off and break any minute. And the challenges don't look like challenges.

And this cost $45-90 thousand and two years to make huh? Tell me, did they just waste the money on Demo Reel and only realized when it was too late?

Dafuq? I thought it was just something they did impromptu, and it was cringeworthy at that. They actually planned before doing this?
