While it's BS because, like I said, Tintin is completely asexual, I'll still admit that this has some aesthetic+artistic value IMO.

She knew about his inflation fetish but I'm not sure about Dobbie's secret identity of Catty-N. He even wrote on a forum that his girlfriend was creeped out and when a certain scene in Harry Potter happened, she mocked him asking him if that's what he's into.

I'm 100% willing to bet he watches The Big Bang Theory and bases all of his 'geek culture' off of it.
Or he just saw the very popular Tintin movie, which was a really neat combination of CGI and live actors that made every animation enthusiast geek out.
Shockingly low self esteem and youth innocence I guess. They were in their early 20s when they dated, I think? That she allowed him to draw her as a dead faced blob while he drew himself as skinny and well hairred speaks to her probable insecurity. Her reaction to him crying about Christmas only lends to my assumptions about her.

I looked a bunch of stuff about him up a while back (as a result of getting into this thread). Coincidentally enough, the two places I lived in my childhood were a) three towns away from where Dobbers went to high school, and b) three towns away from where his parents live now, so I have that perspective, too, for what it's worth.
As others have said, it's really easy to find Dobbles's details with just his name, name of college, and hometown. All of which he stated at various times on his deviantArt journal.

After thinking about it a bit more, I came to realize that the entire 13 year old does not get a reference thing is actually pretty close to a statement I made a couple of days ago, where I compared Dobson to some angry old, very unstable man, yelling at kids outside of his yard. Mostly because the way how Dobson now "deals" with it is reminiscent of that. He is "pissed" at the kid for not getting a reference he of an older generation (at least 20 years of age difference are there) does get and as such is more or less whinning that the new generation does not understand anything about th glory of the old days. Which is kinda funny, cause any other old person could just be an asshole towards him or other people and say the same thing.
As "sad" as it is, time goes on. Our generation, that had some pretty good entertainment in form of Married with Children, ALF, Animaniacs, the Disney Renaissance, some of the good Bay movies etc. has more or less "passed" and kids born AFTER 9/11 are the main consumers of popculture. And as such they will consume mostly the culture of their time and not what we did. It is "sad" in so far that yes, they will not "experience" first hand or directly some of the good stuff we had, as there are not even reruns on tv of them, but come on. We did the same. We did certainly not consume some of the good stuff our grandparents experienced first hand (how many ever watched "I love Lucy" as a kid first hand on a tv in form of a rerun, or knew who Roger Dangerfield was?) and we would still one day at least hear about it and find it funny. So instead of being a smug ass who thinks the kid is dumb for not getting references towards an oh so (in)glorious scifi series that gave birth to generations of conspiracy nuts, why not actually do a "cooler" thing and tell the kid about x-files, making it perhaps interested in the stuff?
In a nutshell: Dobson is not going to be a "cool" old guy anyday.
