I mentioned this before, but Peter Monn is notorious for cramming a shit load of ads into a 20-30 minute video. YouTube is also notorious for letting him do it because he has a very consistent and loyal audience. He’s a gay, non threatening, middle aged man who does gossip videos. He loves to be on camera and he’s sassy, so wine moms and middle aged women who had one gay friend in college eat his content up.
If the theory about youtube taking Adsense from people who put in too many ads was true, he’d be one of the people who would lose them, at least I would think he would be. He uploaded a half hour video today and including the beginning and ending ad, there are 11 yellow ticks on his video, and the banner ad.
I got:
-an advertisement for UGG, skippable
-Snapchat, skippable
-some app called Nourish, skippable
-third tick didn’t load
-vitamins
-senate leadership fund, skippable
-no ad
-another vitamin ad
-no ad
-no ending ads
the video was 37 minutes and 55 seconds long. I’d say this is less than what used to pop up, but it hasn’t been cut in half considering he got 6/11 ads. I will say though, this is par for the course since the beginning of this year. Last year, every single ad came up and I quite watching him because I couldn’t handle an ad literally every 2 minutes. Now it’s more like an ad every 4 minutes, which is still pretty bad IMO. But yeah, I’d say people are losing Adsense, but it’s definitely not specific to the fatties and it’s nothing new since March. I think that’s when it really happened.
I stand by my theory that people thought Amber got demonetized because they kept going back to the same video over and over to read comments and they got a different amount of ads every time. I don’t think anything special has happened recently. She still has 7 ads on her last video and they all came up for me. Looking at it on my boyfriend’s phone, she had 6. On par with Peter Monn, despite exploiting an eating disorder and clickbaiting. I truly don’t think youtube gives a fuck and the whole less ads issue really came down to corona. People have been complaining about it for months.
edit: can’t speak English apparentl
Just for the heck of it, I tried a few Peter Monn videos.
Trisha Paytas comes for James Charles, he claps back, yesterday, 26 mins.
Double skippable opening ads, (Etoro pfft like I've 2 cents to my name, never mind invest).
4 yellow markers, not one triggered an ad.
No ads the whole video.
Are Shane and Tati ever coming back, 1 week ago, 26 mins.
Double skippable opening ads, holy fuck, 10 yellow markers. I see what you're talking about.
Second yellow marker triggered another double, skippable ad.
No other ads triggered, the whole video.
Maybe this is a geographical anomaly? I'm in Europe, possibly there isn't the same market for advertisers here, not as lucrative, or popular to advertise on YouTube?
The last two weeks is the first time I've ever seen yellow markers not trigger an ad.
I know advertisers have paused or halted campaigns during covid, so no bidding wars for ad space, driving the price per ad down, and with it youtubers CPM.
I'm convinced Amber got slapped with a warning for trying to take too much out of the pot, ad wise, as another poster said.
Even at reduced paycheck, surely she will actually have start uploading again? Thumby wouldn't work in a fit, and those shite Wommart hauls don't pay for themselves.
