This is mostly correct and we had a kiwi (sorry kiwi I forget your post) explain Amber's ER ramblings that with a diagnostic test you can at least get a pretty good sense if the ligaments are partially or completely torn. A "sprain" is just a partially torn ligament and one that the body will heal quite well (probably not a deathfat's tho) on its own.Spraining is absolutely something that happens to a lot of people, but she’s claiming the ligaments are torn.
There is no way to know this without an MRI.
It is true that partially torn ligaments can heal themselves (again can’t know they’re partially torn without MRI) but this process can take literal months, especially if this ankle has to share the load of 500lbs.
The person in one of the screenshots about is right that the pressure she exerts daily on her ligaments is so high and the same on her cartilage. Osteoarthritis is a matter of when not if.
A rupture or complete tear, where it's literally ripped into two pieces usually requires imaging to confirm (although a diagnostic test will usually diagnose it as well) and will not usually heal on its own without a surgical intervention.
It doesn't really matter however if it's a partial or complete tear. Amber is fucked. She's been fucked she just didn't know it or pretended she wasn't prior. The housebound era, although terribly boring, led to this and now it will exacerbate and cement it. Amber has long ago lost the ability to safely be mobile.
