Let's hope they actually go to court over this and we get to read the Discord logs.
To fire 34 people over "gross misconduct" citing behavior on Discord, I fully expect a furry porn channel with people gooning on company time or something similarly retarded.

If the people fired are the people I think this hit, then good riddance and hope to never see them work on a game again.
 
So GTA6 is out?? If not I don't understand the point of this article. Keep in mind I didn't read it nor do I plan on it I just really want to play GTA6 and I don't care how many transexuals on the dev team got slightly uncomfortable. Rockstar jews if you're reading this release the damn game!!
It could release now, it just would be unfinished and likely buggy.

Wouldn't even have to be that. A bunch of retarded employees on a discord server getting caught posting shit, sharing emails, etc. between departments nevermind posting them to discord where their EULA basically grants them rights to do whatever they want with your posts, plus uncontrolled access due to a lack of administration from IT and HR to even verify that the people on the server seeing anything internal that may have been posted... would all be appropriate grounds for firing people.

Basically data exfiltration, sharing of trade secrets, breaking NDA, potential confidentiality issues with HR, etc. Employees willingly/freely sharing furry porn with eachother on their own time/system/network isn't something most companies would give a shit about(since it wouldn't involve anything where an acceptable use policy would be in place) unless it wound up being illegal shit and even then if it wasn't done on their equipment still no reason for them to really care other than to hand shit over to the authorities after firing them(which doesn't appear to be the case here).

You just summarized why I stay neutral on unions, both side will fuck you over if you are of European descent.
I think they serve a purpose when its to enforce fair wages, working hours and job security.
They serve no purpose when its about enabling employees to dictate hiring policy and forcing through moronic contract structures that try to settle companies with legacy employees and destroy hiring flexibility.

Creating a game is not a long term project like for example creating a steel mill is. From start to finish games can take from anywhere 2 to 10 years, and legacy support barely needs anyone working on it afterwards. What the unions are trying is to enforce an employment structure that is completely unfit for the business and unrealistic in every way, combined with employee rights that have nothing to do with job security and are all about political agendas.

(And even during the game creation people will be hired on short term contracts to finish certain parts of the game. Nobody needs a fully staffed art department from start to finish, its all basically contract work)

i remember a point in time where Rockstar was one of the very few companies that were extremely tight-lipped and never discussed development till after the game got released. Seeing the tone of the message and the content within, i am convinced GTA 6 will be a $100 hot pile of garbage

They refused their right to Union representation in the disciplinary meeting (which is against UK employment law) and were frogmarched out of the studio with the meeting lasting less than 5 minutes.
Something else must be going on here. Don't get me wrong I fucking hate corpos but a company would have to be exceptionally dumb to do this without a proper reason, as employment solicitors would be all over this. UK employment rights are much stronger than in the United States, so Rockstar's HR team must have evidence of something really bad to be able to eject them out the window on the spot.
