It's definitely CG, the credited group MAGI/synthavision, under Mathematics Application Group was founded to develop computer graphics in 1972. Here's an archive.org upload linked from the description. It's mad to think that this was possible in 74, it really doesn't seem like CG advanced as much as is acted like until the mid 80s and then the 90s, the scenery part was quite a lot to render. Now, it probably took forever to render even the simpler frames of this video, but it still blows me away.I know this isn't the 90s. This is from 1974, and I'm not even sure if this is CGI.
