7/23/2016 DNC Email Leaks - Confirming what we already knew

20,000 emails were leaked from the Democratic National Committee.
The emails show that the DNC has been shilling for Hillary from the very start, including collusion between several media outlets (what a fucking surprise).
The current DNC chair is refusing to speak at the national convention after this.
Twitter has reportedly made attempts to censure the #DNCLeaks hashtag.
I thought this was a big enough thing to make a separate thread on, merge this with the general politic thread if it's not enough.

The DNC has always been a fragile alliance in my opinion, especially in the last fifteen years. The leadership has always tried to appease different groups to guarantee their vote, even if these groups don't necessarily get along.

I agree with you man, that's what I'm getting at. The GOP can shamble through a loss and make it out the other side, the Dems on the other hand have nothing going for them but patting each other on the back and telling them selves that they are better than the GOP and could never loose to Donald.

Nah, only people who give a shit about this email thing in the Dems are Berniebros, but they already hated Clinton. At the end of the day the party elite and all their major figures and donors are falling into line behind Clinton. Including Bernie Sanders. If the GOP has Clinton hate going for it than the Dems have hate of the entire republican party and genuine fear of Donald Trump.

People are talking about these emails like they're symbolic of some bigger shake up in the party. They aren't. The RNC did all this shit and way worse in its attempts to stop Trump. At one point they were openly conspiring to engineer a contested convention so they could force the guac merchant down their voters throats. Hell, some of them even tried it at the convention. They played the media to a far greater extent than the democrats did as well, I might add. National Review had an entire issue devoted to prominent conservatives badmouthing Trump. That wasn't some coincidence.
Many of the GOP elders still won't endorse Trump. The convention was absent many of the most important people in that party. None of the Bushes went there, Kasich didn't go, not Romney, etc etc. The entire old guard of the republican party with rare exceptions basically said "fuck this guy" and as a result the speakers list was like, 90% D list celebrities and people nobody cares about.

The DNC is facing a moment like the GOP did with the tea party, just from the left. Thing is they were unfortunate enough to have this happen to them during an election year and for the Russians to hack their shit. Other than that they're all falling into line, however.

In other news, something very, very interesting happened today. I noticed it at work, but almost every local paper was covering the leaks. This included right-wing outlets (the NY Post, for example) and a number of left-leaning ones. Even Newsday covered it, though it was relegated to deeper in.

I think that we may have hit a point where this little shitstorm might have not gone the way the DNC wanted.
