It's not just a huge advantage, it's a potentially
insurmountable advantage.
Track & field often comes up in these conversations for two reasons: 1) troons are trying to invade it and 2) it's the least ambiguous sport out there.
If, say, a "decent enough" but not championship-level Division I male middle distance runner (with 1:49/3:45 PRs for example) decided to troon out he would win
every race against women, every single time, barring a fall or pulled muscle or something. He would also, instantly, become the "world's fastest woman ever." In other words, you don't have to be an elite male to beat elite females. You can be a mediocre male. Sex is segregated in sport for that reason, among others.
