There's zero chance Paradox is going to essentially fund an entirely new game, so whoever they brought in will likely just be there to try to salvage and stitch together whatever Hardsuit Labs managed to make, in an attempt to recoup their initial investment.

I'm incredibly curious as to how genuinely bad Hardsuit Labs had to fuck up in order for Paradox to not only completely get rid of them but also publicly announce that they were gone. At this point leaked e-mails giving us a glimpse into the inner workings of this mess would probably be more entertaining than this game will be.

There was a lot of emphasis on "inclusivity" and "diversity" in the marketing materials and early trailers so I have a pretty good guess what went wrong.

Paradox are a fucking joke. They should have stuck with reskinning Europa and overcharging for mediocre DLC and not tried to be a mega publisher.

Wasn’t this game pretty far along? is this going to be a woke version of Aliens Colonial Marines? What a fucking shame.
We have no idea. The game was supposed to ship this year... yet despite that they had actually shown off incredibly little. I don't think they ever even revealed the character stat screen or inventory screen. The only gameplay they ever showed off was a short demo a year or so back that was obviously extremely rough and unfinished.

In fairness though, they did have the good sense to nuke this project from orbit. How many times does that happen? Every other time an impending disaster launch is incoming the publisher just shits it out. I wonder what's going to happen to all those people stupid enough to preorder this shit heap.

Do you lot reckon they’re opting to nuke the project to avoid further PR disaster a la CDPR?
Well, I can imagine that the utter disaster that was Cyberpunk 2077 is still weighing heavily on everyone's minds. That situation showed what happens when an overhyped game launches as an utter mess. Canning the project now tempers expectations and prevents an utter PR implosion. This game has a lot to live up to, and its clear that it won't live up to it.

The funny thing is that Paradox actually owns a portion of Hardsuit Labs, so they in essence fired themselves from the project.

This is all also happening after a ton of staff changes, so whatever rot in HSL that caused them to fail this bad is likely in the core of the company.

Well who didn't see that one coming? I mean it's been what two years since they put out that demo where the characters were so flat it could have been a Call of Juarez game. Also checked GOG and it's still there but you can't buy a pre-order, oh well fuck em you wanna know where it went wrong? I got two words for ya: APPENDIX III.

Usually only Nintendo will pull something like that. But Nintendo also makes good games.

On that subject we're going on year 4 since they announced Prime 4, I'd add Bayonetta 3 on there but the creators gone on record saying "fuck it it'll be done when I feel like it".

They were supposed to release it last year too.

Isn't the game done, though, if they have all these set release dates? Why set a release date in the first place if you're just going to fire writers and designers and push the game back? They make it sound like very little of the game was developed this whole time.

I don't think so because what will happen with epic money? Do you think paradox want to upset a litigation happy company that is epic? My bet is a shitty game release.
They did release a statement around December saying don't get your hopes up about a 2021 release their excuse was that that had to tool the game for play on the PS5 and Series X.

I mean, the first selling point I heard was you could select a nonbinary gender instead of something like "fun", "adventure", or "deep". Ignoring their own lore that vampires human characteristics are merely leftovers from their human days and most vampires are effectively asexual (because biology doesn't matter to the dead). It's really too bad. White wolf may be a woke mess, but there's enough good in there that a discerning creator could pull something enjoyable out.

I hope they pull the werewolf game as well, because it looks like tryhard 2edgy4u teen-commie rebellion the game.

Good to know I'm not the only one that thinks this. After the shitshow that is Cyberpunk 2077 and how utterly reputation destroying it would be, a botched launch of an unplayable mess that doesn't live up to hype would be a disaster. Better hold off on it and launch it when there are no eyes on the product and get whatever scraps they can.

My expectation? They're going to can the whole thing, restart from scratch. Paradox certainly wants to publish Vampire products. They know there's a market. They know people want more World of Darkness RPG games for the PC. They also I think are moving on announcing a new edition of VtM. It might be this is getting canned because the game is going to be completely divorced from the mechanics of the new edition.

Honestly, the development of VtM:B 2 is pretty similar to the original, except this time the publisher is not going to shove it out the door.

It's almost like they should stop being retarded with picking game companies that either were about to die, were just started, or both.

Either way, it could go either way depending on how much is available. I'm leaning towards canned because I don't think that there's much available in terms of making the game. I don't think it's due to any new edition reasons or anything like that, because that wouldn't be enough to cause it to be canned.

SEE: Total War: Warhammer back when it just began to exist.

I am sure canning the writers and trying to retool the entire story to reflect current year politics didnt help anything. Instead of working on gameplay and technical issues they had to redo completed shit so it could be more woke. And when Paradox finally showed up for an update nothing was done. Just a mess of half finished crap. After a year of time extensions. The glass door review that said managers seemed to care more about their social media feeds then production says everything you need to know about why this project failed.
