They'd have preferred Dumbledore told Harry every chance he had that he was gay. Nothing suspicious about a teacher telling a prize student from the age of 11 his sexuality when it never is relevant to the conversation, but just shoehorning it in whenever he could.

All of the teacher's sex lives are never discussed. Who Snape loves is mentioned, and Lupin has a kid off-page, but that stuff is kept out of the story because there's no need for it. Doesn't stop the usual whiners, especially ones who now hate JK Rowling for believing biological sex is real, from complaining though.

That some fictional characters are more well-rounded and don't define themselves in as shallow a fashion as these complainers is just an added bonus, and that's true even if you dislike Harry Potter.
basically what troons want is for everything to turn into a TV soap opera with a bigger budget because actual character development, ambiguity in characters, and character arcs are above their mental level.

Wasn't that always the case? I never played Celeste, and never had any interest in it, because what little I saw of it made it look like Tumblr: The Game. Praised by troons and woke people almost exclusively for vague reasons.
The narrative of Celeste is about overcoming depression and anxiety, which the game's lead dev Matt Thorson suffers from. This was widely acknowledged and served as a significant component to the game's high acclaim. Over on 4chan's /v/, however, the running joke was to question whether the game is about getting an abortion.

The talk of trannies in Celeste didn't come around until over a year after the game's release when it got an update that, among other features, expanded the story a little. In the update's new ending, the main character Madeline is shown having a small trans flag on her computer desk:

Celeste-Chapter-9-Ending.jpg

Most people just took this to mean that the Celeste devs were virtue-signaling their allegiance to trannies, similar to how the game A Hat in Time also placed a trans flag within one of its DLC expansion zones at around the same time. A few, however, would insist that this was to mean that Madeline herself is trans, further pointing to the pill bottle on her nightstand (suggesting those are hormone pills, not antidepressants) as well as a framed photo that shows her younger self with short hair.

But ultimately, Thorson, who declared himself to be "non-binary" about a year ago, admits right in the opening paragraph of this new blog post that Madeline being trans is indeed a Rowling-esque retcon no matter how much he denies emulating Rowling. He and his co-workers didn't consider Madeline to be trans at all at the time the base game was released, and at the time they released the update with the tranny stuff, they were ambivalent at best about her being trans.

The only reason why it's acceptable is because Maddy herself came out as trans. Had Rowling came out as a lesbian all those years ago everyone then on the left would have said "OH MY GOD YASSS QUEEN" and hardcore Christian haters would have shat themselves into oblivion which would only make the wokers treat her like a goddess (until of course she said the most lukewarm trans take ever).

It was nice of the author to say "anyone can relate to anyone" though. There's some wokesters who go insane with it and say you must be X to relate to Y character. The article is pretty accepting, which is nice.

Kinda sorta very worried that "struggles with depression/anxiety = trans struggle" is being touted: that might be a sign that Maddy is using transitioning as an escape from her actual mental health issues, or to fill a void that won't be filled by anything but self love and assurance. Its even more worrying that stating if the viewer is also feeling similar to the main character, then shit YOU might be trans and giving the wrong fucking idea of transitioning. Accidentally selling someone a fake bill of goods you bought yourself, in a sense.

Honestly my main concern now is that will the studio/Maddy's games still be decent? Once you trans out, sometimes quality just.... plummets. Like some people stay the same then others become shittier because theyre focusing too hard on other things or get obnoxious about their pet causes because they hang around in new obnoxious social circles. I guess we'll see.

It's hard to tell from Moira's posts so far because of his heavy denial that Sony America is actually responsible of the censorship going on within games published to Sony systems since late 2018 and that it doesn't matter if the japanese games and visual novels are never released outside of the native country, the devs all get to do the same procedures regardless. Even if the end treatment may differ on a title by title basis, but DoaX3 Scarlet, several IdeaFactory games, Omega Labyrinth Life, LoveR re-release, and several VNs in top of my head got censored on PS4 while the Switch was exempt of the censorship in comparison.

It's funny to see Moira trying to mirror the blame on the japs and saying everything about Sony's censorship strike has been nothing more than engineered clickbait lies.

It is going to be an unpopular take but there were problems on the Vita as well after Sony dropped First Party Support for it. VNs and panty quests kept the handheld alive but the first party library was barebones and abandoned early on, an embarrassment on Sony's end on the result of the hardware incompetence.

Depends on how hard they maintain their PR, although Billy may be vindicated that he was right long after his site was taken over by suits in fear of being sued and charged by the feds as a pedophile

They don't want good writing or actual "representation", they just need quick and short quips they can share on Twitter.

funny enough, there is a fantasy RPG being made by a transwoman with a trangender protagonist which had been stuck in a development hell for years because none of the woke journos promoted her kickstarter.
Apparently, the lady who's developing it has controversial political opinions (she's not anti-sjw but she hates democrats and Biden and apparently has a history with gamergate, idc...) that don't match with the rest of the hivemind. It's not an argument for supporting her, just an example of how clique-based the industry is because they only care about virtue-signaling, not actual "diversity".

The game does have a nice art style, much better than Celeste's "retro" pixel garbage.

No, being a tranny is not enough you need to be a politically active aproved tranny. In general I have a big criticism about the bugman concept of diversity.
They just want consumerist reddit tier drones like themselves, just with a different skin. I never see appeals to actually write different perspective or cultures.
Got a muslim? sure it's just a strong female character with a headscarf. Having a religion, ethnicity and minority status never comes up beside the hollywood trope white bullly who gets owned bigly because making strawmen and beating them is powerful.

That's hashtag activism for you. Cloaking yourself in insubstantial good deeds that ultimately change nothing ob substance, but at least you get that shot in the arm of saccharine moral superiority over the evil cishet rapist Nazis.

Japanese (niche) games are haram for the californian overlords at Sony.
Nothing will come of this just like the last 3 times they said Xbox would get japanese games. The article already states what a long shot a situation like that is. The western market outspends the Japanese in Japanese games by a lot.

Any suggestion that Sony is shifting its focus away from Japan is incorrect and doesn’t reflect the company’s strategy, spokeswoman Natsumi Atarashi said. She noted that the PlayStation 5 is launching first in Japan and said “our home market remains of utmost importance.”

Lost Odyssey and Panzer Dragoon orta seem to be the peaks and if there's nothing on the horizon now, there won't be for another 3 years.

like did you read the whole article when it says things like this

Global sales of the PS4 rose to more than 113 million from the PS3’s 87 million, according to Sony data. But the console sold fewer than 10 million units in Japan, less than its predecessor, according to Famitsu, a Japanese video-game magazine. The U.S., meanwhile, accounts for 35% of the video-game unit’s revenue, compared with 10% for Japan, according to Macquarie Group Ltd. analyst Damian Thong.

and

TV ownership among Japanese households has been falling for years, according to government data. That makes the market less attractive, according to Ace’s Yasuda. In order to play games on the PlayStation, a user must have a TV or monitor, though some titles are also available to play on PCs.

The most that microsoft will push is it's subscription service to play digital games on mobile devices.

You mean several first-world countries (USA, Canada, France, UK, Germany, Spain, etc) generally manage all-together to outspend Japan in japanese-made games? Shocking.

I know you miss the mark a lot of time, but the article reveals once again the sad reality that Sony California HQ wants japanese game developers to cater for gaijins firstmost (including their "sensibilities"), not their own countrymen, because muh global sales figures.

It's been this way since the mid to late 90's on all fronts.

It's literally why Pokemon is a global thing. You cater certain Japanese stuff to the west, it's why animal crossing has taken off but why Xenoblade and Dragon Quest remains in the ditches.

Specific shit will work well like Dance Dance Revolution, other musical games and other genres, but none of these are affected by Sony's policy since it's targeting mostly visual novels.

The japanese don't even like Visual novels. I mean you want to talk sales figures they're in triple digits. In comparison you also have shit that's changed to suit western tastes and wound up taking off in Japan like Monster Hunter World and Ghosts of tsushima.

We live in an age where Final Fantasy is a real time brawler and Yakuza is a turn based RPG.
The best thing of Yakuza 7 is taking inspiration to Persona franchise.
And i'm sure is a case of pure simbolism since a new protagonist making his own playstyle is a recurrent plot in past Yakuza games.

great so now we'll have 3 main symbolic protagonists in future games, Dragon vs Tiger vs Waifu.

I just wish they would trim down the minigame shit, you spend the most time completing those than the main campaign.

Source: dude trust me

VNs are low-budget titles meant for a particular audience and do not sell in huge numbers save for a few particular cases. Why the notion of "niche" is so absolutely alien to you and why do you keep doing full damage-control in favor for Sony every single time the company gets criticized in screwing the japs up?

Niche also doesnt stop at visual novels either. It's also the ecchi games, the train simulator games, etc.
