That's the combo of things that causes the most LE assholish behaviour, in my experience. It's nearly always somewhere between people who live to have power to abuse, and people who get exposed to so much of the worst side of humanity and/or dangerous and unpredictable situations that they end up treating people as default threats and problems.

It's why I think it's so short-sighted and stupid of the people who spit out how they don't give a fuck how the cops feel, they think providing the police with much more and much improved mental health services is a waste of money. It indicates they don't regard cops as human, they have no empathy for the effects of how much bad shit cops have to deal with (though they of course threaten suicide at the slightest setback), and they just assume all cops are 100% power-mad demons.

So instead of providing conditions to both help with burnout and also with identifying and hopefully removing the cops who are only in LE for power, violence and/or corruption, they would rather abolish the police completely, or make them go to mandatory sensitivity seminars which don't do anything to help with either of those problems.

There's so many reforms that it would be good to try and implement with LEOs of all stripes. It's impressive, if unsurprising, that people like these SA posters have managed to avoid advocating for a single one of them.

With cops, it's the same deal where you only notice that someone is paying with food stamps when they're buying a cartload of soda and candy and have gone over their balance and the charge won't go through. Unless you personally know some cops, you only notice them when they're being massive shitlords

I don't really like this dude's blog because I think he's too whiny but yeah we should have resources for burnout available for everyone.

Even if the sale does go through there needs to be a reminder that they'd rather give money to a violently abusive woman-hating misogynist than to just abandon their post history and migrate to a new forum.
