Only a regime terrified of those they rule would act in this way. Actions like this demonstrate that the present CCP government of China is illegitimate. China is a house of cards in the face of the coronavirus, and Emperor Xi has no clothes.
The CCP is a fucking joke and I wouldn't be surprised if the coronavirus weren't the final push that starts a revolution in China. If it's not, then I don't know what could be.

I'm curious given how out of control this seems to be going. How was it that SARS was basically put on lock-down relatively quickly while this one has just boomed. What's the difference? Why wouldn't China do the same thing they did when SARS popped up?

SARS was only contagious when people started to show symptoms. Corona-chan is contagious the instant you contract it, meaning there's a 3+ day window where you're actively infecting other people before you even notice something's wrong.

edit: Here's a video by a bong doctor, directly comparing this to SARS and MERS. I was a little off, the median time before you start showing symptoms is 5 days but there have been reports of up to 14. Imagine how many different people the average person comes into contact with during that timeframe.

So by this logic. The idea that they're going to door to door to check the temperature and families for possible infection could arguably expose more people to the virus and therefore infect more people, if the people checking became exposed through the process- or already were and not yet developed symptoms.

This thread and everything to be gleaned about China from it really takes depressing to a whole new level.

Add onto this, lts at least three times more contagious meaning more people to intercept after symptoms start showing

If true, this showcases the absolute autism of the CCP. They are so hard-set about their image and looking like they're actively rooting out the disease, that they're barging into people's homes to drag the sick out onto the streets. All the while exposing valuable manpower to mulitple chances of infection. If they can self-medicate at home, leave them the fuck alone. What if you just busted some poor sap who might just have a cold? Hope he likes dying in a plague "hospital."

This is the sort of absolute dipshittery that makes me worry about my in-laws. Right now me and the missus have instructed them to stay home if they get sick. But with the way the glorious CCP is acting, there is a real possibility they would force them into a half-priced container filled with the sick, and smelling of piss and shit, so they can die drowning in their own fluids or from some secondary infection that I'm SURE is common in those "hospitals."

The cities of Chongqing and Huangshi ordered a few hundred boxfuls of masks from a "Sister City" for emergency relief purposes. While the convoy passed through the town of Dali near the southwestern border the masks were seized by order of the town government, pic related.

The town in question has been distributing masks to the local real estate association for free, though it is unknown whether any of the requisitioned masks were so handed out.

the chinese version of 1984 is looking spooky like one of those halloween houses.

anyways

Here is my prediction on the actual numbers:

Infection: Probably a million just in China alone pretty soon. According to experts, the spread and the severity of the virus is less than measles but worse than the flu (r0 around 2.6-3 is a common number for nCoV 2019).

When I was talking to my friends a couple weeks ago, I said that the infection was like 100k when the number infection was like 1000-2000 people. It's 28,280 now.

Death: Like 50,000 or more in China honestly. They have a really old population and distrust western medicine. Expect a higher fatality rate in China than anywhere else. And with the peak expected in April, it's going to be a lot worse in China.

Internationally:
Japan is going to become the second largest hotspot for this. Public transport in Tokyo = super big.
Canada is going to be super infected. I get their point with "don't be racist" but it's gay.
US will probably get semi infected but okayish for the most part. Expect hotspots to be in California, New York, and Florida. Aka: don't go to these areas until April lol.
3rd world countries = rip infrastructure. bye bye.

Hmmm...ordered masks on Amazon for a family member. Paid a good bit for shipping. Learned they were to be shipped via DHL - from Shenzhen, China. Were supposed to have been here yesterday. Wouldn't be surprised if someone in power there hijacked the masks.
