Hot take; Black Widow is boring, ScarJo is exactly as bad as everyone says Brie Larson is, and every other female version of the MCU would make for a better solo movie than her.

I get that the whole idea is she is an original member and is the only one besides Hawkeye with one, but it would suck.
I would argue that ScarJo is serviceable to decent when she’s given an actual character with material to work with, but the problem is she tends to stick to generic stoic action girls that simply come off as wooden.

Though frankly I can’t say I’d be excited for any solo movie for any of the female characters the MCU has on roster. Gamora might be the most interesting, but considering her most interesting development tends to revolve around her relationship with Thanos it would likely be either stakeless or redundant. People arent wrong when they say most of Marvel’s best female characters are X-Men.

Tumblrinas are loving the crap out of this movie. It seems Disney doesn't even need to go to their houses to pay them to say "I felt represented by seeing Captain Marvel, It was the first time I saw a girl being a superhero, showed me I could be one too and I felt powerful."

I wonder how much fucking bad media they watched as kids to say things like this, I mean, not every female character back then was a damsel in distress either. so that, they didn't feel represented by Mulan or Xena or Eowyn or the fucking Powerpuff Girls?
All you have to do for a Tumblrina to love your female character is have her be a vaguely butch looking woman they can cream themselves over (I say vaguely butch because a lot of the 'fandom lesbians' I see fall along the lines of seeing themselves as delicate femme flowers who need big strong women to take care of them).

Yeah, Marvel Studios always kind of had to rely on "literally who's" when it came to making a movie about a female character. Before the MCU stuff, if you asked someone about female Marvel characters they'd probably bring up all X-Men.

I don't think any of the ladies of the MCU could carry a solo movie, but they'd do fine in teamup films.

Gamora/Nebula
Black Widow/Daredevil
Scarlet Witch/Vision
Captain Marvel/Drax

I'm no comic-ologist, but hasn't The Avengers often been "one or two A-listers at most and a bunch of guys who couldn't carry a book by themselves"?
Of all the Avengers, only Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor had ongoing titles of their own. The rest were secondary characters that appeared in other titles like Black Panther from Fantastic Four, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver from X-Men, and Black Widow and Hawkeye were opponents of Iron Man in their first appearances.

To be fair, Justice League of America was the same way. with six of the "Big Seven" holding their own titles ( both Green Lantern and Aquaman were cancelled at one point.) Some like Atom and Hawkman had their own titles cancelled. Green Arrow used have his own feature in Adventure Comics and co-featured with GL, but the rest of the satellite era were supporting players. Curiously, Firestorm had his own title throughout much of his tenure with the team.

Ultimately team books are where to put beloved characters not popular enough for their own titles.

Well no, Hulk has his own comics. Or was that changed when the dangerhair brigade got ahold of Marvel comics, too.

I think he's referring to the original lineup. In which case, you're right, both the Hulk and Ant-Man had their own comics when The Avengers was formed. Avengers #16 is when they started bringing in scrubs like Quicksilver and Hawkeye who were introduced in other characters' books.

As for the dangerhair brigade, they killed off all of the movie Avengers around 2015-16, so, no, none of them had their own books until mid-2018 when they started bringing them back. And Black Widow and The Wasp are still dead in the comics continuity.

Pretty much. I get some people may be excited, but most of the MCU heroines are just meh. They're either manic pixie girlfriends or stone cold badass action bimbos. Neither of them are particularly interesting to me. No stakes, no drama, no flaws...Just fanservice.

I dunno, I just don't feel the MCU will ever give us somebody as amazing as Rogue or Storm (from the comics).

Captain Marvel is going to defeat Thanos by digging up sexist jokes he made on Twitter a decade ago and getting him de-platformed.

Since we're talking about MCU heroines, the most memorable ones to me are actually from Black Panther. Okoye has an inner conflict on whether to defend Wakanda no matter who the leader is or to help T'Challa, while Shuri has an interesting personality as she's an SJW-bent geek.

Oh, no no no no no...
You'll see it'll completely bomb on the opening !
...
Well it did OK but it's gonna drop this weekend !
...
Wait no but next week for sure !
...
Probably a terrible second weekend !
...
They'll never sell a bluray !
...
Nobody's gonna watch it on Netflix !
...
In 300 years everybody will have forgotten about it !

I have to say the whole drama around it has been way more entertaining than the actual movie

I remember my comic reading friends in High School telling me Avengers was "Captain America and a bunch of people no one's ever heard of".

Well it sucks the MCU will decline because they have been given the go ahead to "We don't care, shit out mediocre crap we will go see it".

That's why people were hoping it was gonna underperform. And no offense but that weird shill strawman of a anti-sjw /tv/ user is fucking obnoxious as hell and makes you look more pathetic than the people attacking the movie. And at worst makes you look like a corporate stooge.

Also nice to see that box office meme, do you frequent /tv/ by any chance? I mean, I get why you are making fun of those who hate the movie because you find anti-sjws annoying, but are you actually glad the movie succeeded just to...spite people with actual taste in movies? You basically saying we are stupid for wanting a terrible mediocre hateful movie to bomb?

Lolwut.

Aren't you glad we can fight capitalist heteropatriarchy by giving tons of money to the Mouse-zaibatsu to see a mediocre, formulaic film?

That'll show them!

The dumb SJW/anti SJW infighting has made forgettable filler movies profitable.

Yes I'm a terrible spiteful person who enjoys seeing people who have VERY STRONG OPINIONS about trivial things ridicule themselves on the internet, I thought that was the idea behind KF but I stand corrected.

Please tell me more about those "people with actual taste in movies" whose most precious and sacred treasure is the MCU they sound great.
