Where would you put The Incredible Hulk even though that is MCU movie that is never talked about?

Trash I'll never watch I guess. I don't think even think it's canon given that it's been Ruffalo in the role ever since.
I wouldn't mind a Hulk stand-alone provided they knew what they were doing with it and I'd love to see a Planet or World War Hulk movie if they were actually good because those would be fun to see on the big screen but I dunno if I have enough faith in them that they could actually pull either off without fucking it up (I dunno if they can even still bring The Inhumans into the mix after their attempt to introduce them by way of one of the worst tv shows ever created failed miserably).

It's still canon and has little references in the rest of the MCU. The Hulk is the only major case of an actor being replaced in the MCU but it has happened to other characters.

Part of the reason that there hasn't been any Hulk sequels is because of Universal still having the movie rights and the Hulk is in the same boat that Spider-Man's in. The closest they'll do is something like Ragnarok taking parts of Planet Hulk.

I kinda lost interest in seeing Ruffalo in a stand-alone movie ever since he developed TDS hard. Like how hateful he got about it made me actively dislike the guy.

Anyone knows why they decide to rename the cat "Goose"? Is it to evoke another film about a cocky fighter pilot? But the problem is, Top Gun has character development and a redemption arc (not very effective ones to be sure, but they're there), and a love interest. Carol is already perfect from the get-go so she doesn't need character development, and only JERK MALES cause accidental deaths of a colleague so Carol has no fault to require redemption. As for love interest, I'm sure it is objectifying or something.

Wow, this thread moves FAST.

While hardcore Marvel fans might clamber for movies about Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and the Thunderbolts, most of the general public are only going to be interested in the big showcase characters like Spider-Man, Captain America, and Iron Man. Yes, there are exceptions to the rule such as Guardians of the Galaxy, but I can just about guarantee you, people are going to stopping caring when marvel is stuck with trying to hype up C and D-listers like the New Warriors, Darkhawk, and Slapstick. They're going to tard cum this cash cow to death and I fear Captain Marvel is just the beginning of the downward spiral.

Iron Man pretty much proved that as long as you cast well and make a good movie, people will raise any comic book character to A-list status or at least to a rung that's definitely higher than where the character originally started popularity-wise. RDJ really brought the character real gravitas with his acting. Same with Captain America and the rest of the Avengers (sans CM). Before Iron Man, if you made a poll and asked casual people which superheroes they can quickly name, the list would probably have these five in some order:

  • Superman
  • Batman
  • Spider-man
  • Wolverine
  • Wonder Woman
If you told me 10 years ago with a straight face that Star-Lord will legitimately challenge Aquaman for popularity, I would've asked what you're on because I want it, too.

If this happens it will be the biggest slap in the face audiences will ever get. They spent like 22 movies and 11 years with this and they want a satisfying conclusion.

I'm mentally prepared to accept Infinity War as my own conclusion to the MCU if they forced Danvers in Endgame and it ended feeling cheap.

Trash I'll never watch I guess. I don't think even think it's canon given that it's been Ruffalo in the role ever since.

It's canon. William Hurt played General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross in that film, and by the time Civil War rolled around in the MCU timeline, he was already promoted to Secretary of State (he's the one who gave the Sokovia Accords to Rogers and crew, also same actor).

When people ask me what my "Top 5 MCU Movies" are, I say without any hesitation:

  1. Avengers: Infinity War
  2. Iron Man
  3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  4. Captain America: Civil War
  5. Guardians of the Galaxy
The Russos have flat-out dominated my list. I'll never forget my reaction to when I saw The Winter Soldier in theaters: I was SO into the movie, that I was just silent the entire time. And when the credits started rolling, I was still silent, needing to take a few minutes to let the awesomeness of that movie sink in. It's the most badass superhero movie ever made, IMO. The Russos deserve so much better than this.

Also, Lord and Miller now have an Oscar, and dominated awards season with their masterpiece, Into the Spider-Verse. They mopped the floor over Disney's lame efforts of 2018 (Incredibles 2 and Wreck-It-Ralph 2 were garbage movies). Not only that, but they made a better Spider-Man movie than Marvel Studios did. I liked Spider-Man: Homecoming and all, but Spider-Verse kicks its ass. Lord and Miller are doing pretty great right now, I'd say (even if I hated the Lego Movie 2).

Mine are:

  1. Iron Man
  2. The Avengers
  3. Captain America: The First Avenger
  4. Iron Man 3
  5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Even though The Avengers is tied in with Cuck Whedon and was predictable, I don't consider it to be a bad film. Captain America: TFA is not a very exciting - or even memorable - film, but it was a solid film and I have to give it credit for maintaining its integrity. Iron Man is simple enough to understand why I still consider it the best MCU film.

Every other MCU film has - in one way or another - done something illogical or irrevocably stupid that I simply don't regard them as outstanding. Iron Man 3 was great throughout the first act and had well-executed action, but the Mandarin twist felt like such a copout to the character as well as Potts saving the day. Has nothing to do with wamminz or Gwyneth Paltrow; I'd just also be annoyed if the final blow was delivered by Alfred instead of Batman in spite of Alfred having military experience. Not to mention the fake closure of Tony's arc by blowing up all the suits for the purpose of that action to be undone whenever they felt like it (i,e: Civil War). Not going to plumb much further into it, but the way they presented him in 3 meant there were moments in Civil War where the "genius" in him should have pulled through over conveniently missing the opportunity in order to push the plot in a specific direction.

The Winter Soldier ...is not that great a film in my opinion. Props to the Russos for using live-action choreography over CGI, giving Cap himself a decent story arc, and having the very plot that shows why the Captain Marvel side of CW2 is such a shit side to agree with - that much I am satisfied with. I think the most egregious aspect of the film (which has continued to this day really) is that Cap had to share pretty much all the film with Black Widow; they might as well have shoved her name into the title with how long she's around. This was likely because Black Widow was probably being considered for a standalone film at the time after her enduring popularity (which I think has always been a poor idea), and Captain America: TFA scored the lowest in box office amongst the original three standalone character films. However, I feel like Evans could have carried the film on his own if given the right script, and that his acting and popularity was second guessed. It gets No. 5 on my list because of the earlier-stated pros and most of the others making bigger, more numerous, and more obvious blunders.

I could go into every other MCU film and why they're too shit for me to have placed them, but that's a lotta movies and apparently some people have feelings as brittle as glass (see: My GotG post in Unpopular Opinions). My only other mention is that I considered Doctor Strange in my Top 5, only much more evidently than Evans I think that Cumberbatch was severely underutilised. No doubt he was put on a leash by Disney to act within certain parameters without pushing the envelope, and while this stranglehold was loosened in later films this felt like a case of missed opportunity.

My reaction to the Russo Captain America movies has been pretty "meh." I grew up on Schwarzenegger and Stallone. Diehard and Robocop. Bronson and Van Damme (Sudden Death was good dammit!). PG-13 action films are just too weak in comparison

It's true for me too. MCU (and most capeshit) films don't even hold a candle to the first two Alien and Terminator movies, or the original Die Hard. Even the first Rambo film had a very heartfelt ending that outstrips the majority of them in its purpose.

Same with Chris Evans. He's just had the worst takes on Twitter.

Sometimes you just gotta try and separate the person from the actor. Kevin Spacey is a sick fuck but he was a really good actor who played key roles in some of my all-time favorite movies (Se7en, The Usual Suspects (which also had a sick fuck director)). Same with Tom Cruise. Man is a nutjob who believes in volcano aliens and is the public face of his shitty cult but you're missing out if you boycott his old movies or the newer stuff like Edge of Tomorrow and the Mission Impossible franchise.

The good thing about Evans and Ruff is that thus far they've mostly been confined to the Marvel movies, there's only 4 movies between them outside the MCU that I've seen them in major roles (Zodiac, Shutter Island, Snowpiercer & Sunshine). Obviously that could change with Evans (not sure about Ruff) reported to be departing after EG but I don't think he has the acting range necessary to be in much else outside of action movies from what I've seen of him.

I'm still curious how they got the idea that "it's a typical man thing" to "pit two unrelated women against each other for their own personal gain"

This would be a stretch but it may stem from the concept of men being attracted to women fighting against each other i.e. cat fights, which is a bullshit reason behind the whole Alita vs Captain Marvel debacle (I'm more inclined to believe it's not only because Alita isn't forcing feminism but also because she and Captain Marvel have very similar premises).

This is Shane (the guy who made a total ass of himself debating a Lawyer with google and wiki links), glad to see he's exceptional in other fields:

Bill Maher wanted the economy to fail to spite Trump. Perhaps he's just an asshole.

Yeah, using Stan isn't exactly endearing. I don't know why they keep doing this kind of stuff with him.

Gotta force the feminist movie on everybody.

So I've been catching up on the comics especially considering they altered Carol's origin and goddamn, I hope the movie or any future adaptation never uses this.

Original: Carol Danvers was an Air Force pilot and love interest of a guy named Walt Lawson, actually Captain Mar-Vell of the Kree who was sent to infiltrate human society to prepare an invasion. Mar-Vell eventually ends up disobeying orders for the sake of mankind. During a later adventure, one of Marv's enemies kidnaps Carol and threatens him with some superweapon. The resulting explosion from destroying the superweapon had the unintentional effect of Carol gaining Mar-Vell's powers too.

Current: Mar-Vell had little to do with Carol's powers. Her mother was an earlier Kree soldier sent to Earth named Mari-Ell. Her father found this woman while out on his boat who he ends up romancing and having a kid with. The incident with Mar-Vell only awakened the abilities she didn't realize she had the whole time. The best part? Carol isn't even her birth name anymore and you won't believe me when I tell you what it really is now.

It's Car-Ell. I'm not bullshitting you.
