Like I said, this is going to be another Teen Titans Go.

It definitely isn't going to be as popular as that was - lightning doesn't strike twice too often.

I thought the guy thought He-Man was stupid?
I think one of the underlings went on a whole Twitter tirade basically saying that the He-Man and Thundercats were stupid and that if you thought the reboot looked terrible you were just a stupid fanboy, and a few industry professionals joined in on that self-congratulatory crowing, but the actual show runner (the one with the stupid top-knot hair, Victor-something I think) said that he was a big fan of the show growing up, and drew a lot of inspiration from Thundercat(‘s intro, nothing in the show) and that the reboot about to come out is basically everything he ever wanted to see in a Thundercats series.

Granted, it’s possible that he’s exaggerating, but based on some of his apparent hipster-isms I kinda get the impression that he’s one of those people currently plaguing animation & comics who thinks everything’s gotta be super ironic and self-aware.

I don’t think this is CN trying to re-capture TTG so much as Adventure Time. That show was a massive hit for them because, at the time at least, there wasn’t anything really like it on kids television. It’s also partly responsible for a lot of the style quirks that have become rampant in CN shows like off-modelness and the bean head/mouth look when a lot of the artists who got their start on AT went off to make their own shows. Thundercats has all these markers, so I get the impression that it’s another instance of someone who worked on AT or for someone who worked on AT and it’s another instance of CN figuring that if they worked on this one show that was a huge hit for them then surely at least one of these guys has another million dollar idea rattling around in there somewhere.

TTG was a hit, sure, but it was kinda for completely different reasons - namely the TT show was fresher in the public consciousness, the style was crisper, and the jokes are pretty straightforward where they rely more of crude but effective slapstick rather that being weird/surreal; ideal background radiation basically. If they were trying to ape TTG, they’d probably going the direction of that Uni-kitty show nobody watches.

I love how it's only 4 seconds and you can just see the whole scope of how much they didn't give a shit.
For all the people who claim, "the original show was silly", let's just say there is a difference between silly and stupid.

When I was a kid watching ThunderCats, I took it seriously ... Because it was an action-adventure series made for children ... But it followed a plotline, and I cared about what happened to the characters.

Now that I'm grown up, I understand how silly and fantastical the show got sometimes. But even as an adult, I still have characters that I really like, and there are still some COOL things about the series. There was an attempt to tell a story and build a universe that the kids watching could get immersed in. The show got freaking scary at times as well with Mumm-Ra.

From the looks of this current abomination, this seems to be the equivalent to shaking keys in front of a toddler.

Idk why they can’t have a humorous take on the show without it looking like garbage

Cartoon-Network needs a good action/adventure cartoon that isn't made by a soyboy/SJW. Not this kind of crap.

Unfortunately, Cartoon Network has a long history of screwing over action shows, no matter how good or critically acclaimed they are. See Samurai Jack, SWAT Cats, Sym-Bionic Titan, Megas XLR, Beware the Batman, Young Justice, the original Thundercats reboot, The Big O....

Quite a lot. I just give up in despair at the things I'll never see.

They had one with the 2011 ThunderCats (which was poised to become better than the original, IMO).

I will never forgive Cartoon Network for cancelling it. It got cancelled on a cliffhanger, too ...

I think a lot of the newer examples in your list all had something to do with YouTube. Young adults will watch it on YouTube and skip ads, kids in grade school will plant their asses in front of the TV and watch the ads.

This is like what you would see if you looked into some autistic kid with ADHD’s mind while he was watching thunder cats.
I think this sums up my feeling well enough

Same reason teams like the Detroit Lions keep hiring ex-New England Patriots assistant coaches.... they don't know how to build a winning team, but, if they just take this guy who was part of a winning team and rub him around on all their stuff....... something happens, and they win now!

Creativity is so lacking in modern entertainment media, that when something "hits", the execs at the top treat it as some kind of magic potion and instantly pour it on everything else by the 55 gallon drum, not getting that the initial success was unique and came from just the raw probabilities that anyone can get something to "stick" if they're throwing shit at a wall all day.

But they quickly wear that uniqueness into the ground by trying to link it to everyting else.

God this looks horrible.

I'll ask the same question I ask whenever this happens.

Why can't you just make a new show? Do you HAVE to hijack something I liked as a kid and just fuck it to death?

I mean say what you will about Steven Universe. At least it is its own goddamn thing.

The got what they wanted, free publicity and our attention, some people are gonna watch this at least one time

Because its cheaper to just crap out terrible and lazy animation thats far easier for their cheap and replaceable graduates to replicate, and this whole thing stinks of the most cynical shekel ploy imaginable.

The execs are banking on an immediate audience of...

a) sperg fans of the old show
b) children whose parents were fans when they were kids
c) manchildren who fap to cartoons

...or to put it simply, retards.

Even if the show is an absolute flop and gets canceled after a single season the execs can still be reasonably sure that a fair few retards will throw money at the show in some way (i.e. merchandise) and that a network will pay them to run the show, and thus to make sure the profit margin is decent even in a worst case scenario, they make sure everything is as cheap as possible but has a "marketable" aesthetic so that other execs feel happier taking a slight risk with the show
