I love how it's only 4 seconds and you can just see the whole scope of how much they didn't give a shit.

Yatzee said it best about unfaithful remakes of old games-you may as well make something new. The new fans won't give a shit either way if it's good and you'll just upset the older fans.

Thats' why Xcom-enemy unknown was a big hit wereas no one, no where gives a single fuck about the bereau.

Then again this whole thing reeks of not trying your best and not really caring.

This is why KOTOR style "part of the same universe but completely remote and independent with little to no reference to the original" reboots of franchises is generally* a good move. You get access to familiar and popular settings, concepts, narratives and such but are also able to tell completely new stories and not be railroaded by an existing story or existing expectations for how that story should be continued/retold. Can think of quite a few disastrous reboots that would have fared far better had this been done instead of full on "original doesn't count" remakes or "originals are now retroactively fucked up" sequels...

I think the most curious thing about this particular reboot is that, unlike other recent reboots such as She-Ra, the show runner is supposedly a guy who was and still a huge fan of the original show. So you’d think that someone like that would get what the appeal was, and make anything other than... whatever the hell this is.

Of course, fantards are often some of the worst people to be put in charge of a franchise, since the things you want as a fan aren’t always a great idea to actually see executed.
