So the BR mode ("Firestorm") isn't launching until March 2019, and there won't be MTX on release (November 20) but there will be "post-launch".

The game's release schedule is so incoherent that EA had to publish a spreadsheet to explain how/when it can be played: There's basically three different launch dates depending on how much you've paid in advance.

I think it's pretty clear they're just hoping people will be tired of Blackout by the time Firestorm launches, because the base game's prospects aren't looking any better than they were a month ago.

My question is whether March 2019 is just too late; the battle royale mania is wearing off fast.

I think the game needed more development time. For fuck's sake, the Rush mode isn't even in the base game.

Putting the controversy surrounding the game aside, the game doesn't seem to be as well put together as Battlefield 1 was. There's less content than that at launch, and the post-launch support is going to be dubious thanks to the way Battlefront II has been treated.

Needless to say, I think this is going to be an "off" game for the series, in terms of both reception and sales.

At this point I wouldn't buy it for the sheer fact its an EA game. Let alone all the pozzed side stuff, and all the baggage that will come with it. Even if it had non of the current year shit in it, its still EA. Why would you trust EA to not utterly fuck you over?

If you want a large scale open military FPS try WW3 maybe, if you want a large scale ww2 fps that has a lot of depth n autism try Post Scriptum.

EDIT: I am editing this to also mention that Hell Let Loose is also pretty good looking and would be better then BF 5. That and Battalion 1944. But if you must get BF 5, just get a G2A key.

Remember everyone pirating and buying gray market keys hurt the game industry. Thus you should always do it to fuck over companies like EA.

If Twitch is any sort of bellwether of popular interest, consider that on a holiday, 2 days after wide release, BFV currently has less viewers than Farming Simulator '19. :story:

Stop shaming the Farming Simulator/Bus Driver Simulator/Train Conductor Simulator streamers, they have a lot of substance and charisma to accrue that many viewers on such low-key games.

I've yet to see any major streamer play Battlefield V for more than a few hours, if at all. Since the top 5% of streamers comprise most of Twitch's influence and every recent online success (namely PUBG and Fortnite) has been a hit with them, it's a poor sign. All of them are more interested in the upcoming BR mode than the base game.

Small but dedicated fanbases maintaining higher Twitch viewership than AAA titles is more common than most people think. Battlefield V is even worse off in that respect because it didn't even have a hype wave.

Having less viewers than a Thief Simulator is pretty sad.
Maybe the console sales and DLCs is going to save their ass, but they should think about it (for example don't pander SJW and attack /pol/tard , for those 2 demographics , probably a /pol/tard is more likely to buy the game).

The social justice/feminism crap and cyborg niggers running around with katanas is pretty bad but what's really going to kill this thing is not having battle royale at launch. Nobody is going to want to wait a year for a mediocre at best game to patch it in when they can play Fortnite now.

I have a theory that they're targeting the COD audience and didn't feel confident rushing their own BR out to compete with Blackout. Delaying it gives them time to polish it and let BO4's hype burn out.

There's no point going after Fortnite anyway unless they make it free, and this being EA that's not happening.

Play Battlefield 5 free for a week if you message the EA support team today
The customer service support line has seven-day trials of Origin Access
Electronic Art’s customer service Twitter account is offering free seven-day trials of the Origin Access Basic PC game service for those interested in Battlefield 5. In a tweet, the company said that all you need to do to enter is send them a Twitter DM that includes a hashtag: #TRYBFV.

Note that Origin Access is a subscription service, and you’ll likely need to cancel it after the seven days if you’re not interested in continuing to use it. The offer is only good on Windows PC.

“If you’re on PC,” the tweet states, “direct message us with the hashtag #TRYBFV in the next 24 hours and we’ll get you in the game for a limited time with a 7-day trial for Origin Access Basic.”

Battlefield 5 had a long, rolling launchthat was so complicated, EA wrote its own guide to help sort it out. Now that the game is available to everyone, EA is offering weeklong trials as a sort of demo.

Critics, including myself and others here at Polygon, have noted that the game feels a little incomplete. Our own Russ Frushtick found the single-player offering fairly anemic, but DICE promises more content — in the form of additional single-player missions, multiplayer modes, and levels — is on the way.

The offer is only available until 9:48 a.m. EST on Dec. 1. If you do decide to take EA up on its offer, know that, for all its shortcomings, Battlefield 5 has one of the most beautiful playable introduction montages I’ve ever seen.

They are really desperate

Well, what do you expect?

"DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T BUY IT FAGGOT. ITS THE CURRENT YEAR AND US WRITING OUT AN ENTIRE TEAM OF NORWEGIAN COMMANDOS FOR TWO POWERFUL WOMEN IS PROGRESSIVE. FUCK YOU MISOGYNISTS"

*Nobody buys shit game*

"Oh God, please buy it. Please. EA's contract has them stripping out my left kidney if we don't make $500 million by end of year. PLEASE GOD, BUY IT"

Fucking pathetic desperation. Nobody likes desperation. Not women. Not people who interview for jobs, nobody. Eat shit and rot EA. The last and final game I've ever bought from you was Mass Effect 3 and its going to fucking stay that way. Because at the end of the day, all you're going to put out is pozzed Battlefield Games and Sports.

Im going to catch a lot of shit for this, but even if we leave all the poz-politics, I genuinely believe Battlefield started going down after they moved to their frostbite engine. It was pretty and blowing up buildings was fun, but it always felt arcade like.

Theres something about the way Battlefield 2 and 2142 felt that I really miss.

Notice the "WHITE MEN WHITE MEN WHITE MEN" quote that is spun as more of the ebil mushogynurd bigotry the stunning and brave team faced in their quest to put the first wammen in a game in history....but was actually a reference to the fact that "white man" was a censored term in battlefield V chat

Ah yes, because tripling down on being passive aggressive towards your fanbase will not push them away further.
